yes flip top and swap discs allow u to play ur back ups.. u insert swap disc, close lid, let it load till u see the insert disc screen, insert ur copy disc, press "X" and it will load up.. thats it.. much easier than soldering if u have no experience..

You know how theres 3 version of the swap magic 3 discs(pal, jap, usa) does it matter what version you have. can a PAL version work on a usa ps2. You know how it says on the Product features on ps2cover.com:Includes built-in PAL/NTSC region selector and Multi-Language menu: English, Chinese, Spanish, German, Italian, Korea so does it matter. Does anyone know the answer to my perplexing question?

thursday - he's right man, yeah this thread goes off topic a bit, but it's been running for so long now and survived one closing, we dont care. but you would get more info by posting your question in the right forum. i'm not sure if many dvd people will be cruising the fliptop thread, but you might get lucky. I would suggest getting DVDdecrypter or smartripper and DVD2One (all available here) for your DVD backups. those 3 appz and nero are all i use and i've never had a problem doing any DVD's.

i new to this whole flip top stuff so can someone clear up one thing
when installing the flip top the power/rest ribbon can no longer be taped to the top of the dvd drive because the top has to be removed, my question is how do you mount the ribbon so it doesn't get caught on anything and snag, be specific thanks.

That's about the only tricky part about installing the fliptp. Just get a peice of tape and tape it to the side of the fliptop. Just make sure not to pinch it when puting the fliptop on! That's about it.
