Discussing downloaded games is against forum rules but I am assuming you own the games. The site http://www.saveware.com/ps2_Swap_Magic.htm says that it has a "TOC refresh mechanism which allows your PS2 to play large size game disks or games." I think that means that it can play rips but I am sorry I can't be sure.

Version 4 is a very good version to have of the PlayStation 2 because the 7 and later does a double TOC check. $ony keeps adding in copy protection features as they go along. In fact http://www.fliptopcover.com (A redirection link to Saveware Cyberspace Store) sells the PlayStation 2 refurbished version 4 ($249) instead of a new 7/8/9 because it does not have as much copy protection so it is better. You can sells yours and get that pre-modded one and you don't have to do any swapping or installing of the chip as it has already been put in professionally.

But if you want to install a Flip Top Cover and get the combo with the Swap Magic Discs they are only $30.95, the cheapest I have seen on the net. Shipping goes out fast USPS Priority, takes about 2-3 days, mostly 2 days unless you are in California then 3 days but still fast and cheap too, about $5.85. They have been selling computers also for 16 years so they are good at what they do. On ther mailing list they send out it states they will have piectures up soon of different colors that thay have painted with a sepcial proccess so they paint won't chip or peal off. Metallic Blue, Metallic Red, Fluorescent Red and Aluminum Gloss (Looks more like Silver) I will put one of the examples in the next message.

I cut and past the information I got from http://www.saveware.com/ps2_Swap_Magic.htm on the Swap Magic 3.0 set when it comes out. What you are referring to RiP's is that you need the CD 3.0 not the DVD. RiP's are ripped from the DVD and put onto CDR's so that they don't take up so much room. So they use the larger CDR's then the 650 Megabyte discs. That is why you need the 3.0 version that will over come that. I think they have up to 90 minute ones now days, even larger. They got this from the official Swap Magic 3.0 Site. It does not mention it but the CD will now do over 650 Meg. games for RiP's. The 3.0 CD works with the new Version 9 PlayStation 2 as the 2.0 CD does not but the old 2.0 Swap Magic DVD disc will work with Version 9.

New Swap Magic version 3.0 features:

* Provide Multi-Language menu including: English, Chinese, Spanish, German, Italian, Korea.
* Swap Magic 3 can change the color system (NTSC, PAL) output of the PS2 so that you can play all the NTSC and PAL games.
* TOC refresh mechanism which allows your PS2 to play large size game disks or games.
* Enables playing of import games on PS2 (Including support for the latest V9 boards).
* Plays all CD & DVD games. (PS2 Software only, not PS1)
* This item requires the use of a no-solder mod-chip.
* More user friendly and Powerful than Action Replay or GameShark 2.
* Works with ALL Models of PS2
* Will not Void your PS2 Warranty
* No Mod-Chip For Games to Detect
* No internal modifications or Mod-Chips required to boot you backup copies and imports
* No extra stress on the laser lens
* Absolutely No soldering required - plug and play!
* Play CDR & PS2 DVDR backups of PS2 games on your PS2 console
* For PS2 CD-R backups
* For PS2 DVD-R backups
* Games start with the single swap method

sweet, its a total liftsave with a dvd burner.

#1 if u have a large mp3 list like me, don't use up 30 CD-Rs for all ur mp3s, when u can just use 5 DVD+rs :D
#2 Let Guys rent ur games so u can rent theirs and copy theirs, maybe more ideas... CD-RW Drives are good for audio cds, some what data, and more commonly to CD-Rom Drive Play

well you were doing fine till the rental statement. thats piracy dude, and it is not allowed to be discussed here at aD. edit your post before a mod sees it or you will most likely be banned. I've seen many people get banned for saying nearly those exact words.

Hi,is the flip top really that much bette than the slide card?Because i bought a 1yr extended warr. on my ps2 and have the slide card and was thinking about the flip top but wondered if i had to take it back for some reason within the year shouldn't i try and put the little warr. sticker back on it after putting on the original cover or should i say the hell with it and just get the flip top.I have read that the slide card can damage your ps2 tray motor after awhile is this entirely true?

dude, it doesn't matter that you REALLY need to open it, this site can REALLY be shut down alltogether for any discussion of piracy. do a search on opening rar files, or bin/cue.

Somewhere in this thread I read that the older ps2's wouldn't play +R disks. I waited in line back when they first came out and bought it on the first day ps2's were available here. Mine runs -R, +R, and hold on +RW movies AND games.

tom swap magic 2 cd version wont load on a v9 ps2 but the dvd version works.if you have a PAL ps2 you could go for the swap magic 3 cd/2 dvd combo otherwise you will have to wait till swap magic 3 is fully released.also you have to modify the filp top to fit a v9 ps2.
grywolf also there's always an exception to the rule but generaly ps2 version 1-3 have problems with +r discs so they are better using -r

http://www.fliptopcover.com has v9 Flip Top Cover already modified, in Black or Blue for the same $30.95 with Swap Magic Discs.

Also just heard that the they are still having trouble with the Swap Magic USA 3.0 CD working for the SCPH5000X V9 Playstation 2. The PAL one works though but the DVD is still 2.0 for both USA and PAL but does work with the v9 console.

greedy ratchet and clank 2 requires cd loader 5.1 as well as swap magic to boot
