FIRST: make sure you disk is clean and free from scratches..If you can backup any other wii game with your set up as it is, then this should work for you. Also make sure that you have amply drive space on your computer. If you don't this will give you an error.

This is from the SSBB thread. You should also look there for more info.

Friidump v 0.4.0.0 to dump the ISO (Find it on the "How to use friidump" thread on AD)
&
IMG BURN

Save the friidump folder on you C: in program files.
Insert your SSBB original into your "LG" drive.
Click on "START" for windows
Click on run
Type: cmd
Then click: OK
Type: cd..
Hit enter
Keep typing cd.. until you only see c:\> in dos
Now type: cd program files
Hit enter
Type: cd friidump
Hit enter
Type: friidump -d f: -a
(NOTE: f: is for my "LG" drive. Go to my computer and find out where you drive is located and put the corresponding letter there. For example, if your LG drive is the e drive then type -d e: -a, g drive would be friidump -d g:-a)
hit enter and the dump should start.

Once it is complete (about 6hrs or more) go to my computers. Click c: and click on program files. Find your friidump file, open it and you will find you BRAWL iso. Check it to make sure the Bytes are the correct size. Right click the file, then click properties. It should be 8,511,160,320
Now open IMG BURN and click on mode, write, select the Brawl file from the C: in the program file called friidump. Put in a DL disk a burner that will burn DL disk. Click Burn..

On my first try I used Verbatim DVD+R DL at 1x and it did not load properly. I reburned with a MEMOREX DVD+R DL at 2.4X and it worked perfect. I also updated ONLINE before loading the game but I don't think that really makes a difference.

To make a layer break in the iso: go to TOOLS, SETTINGS, WRITE. On options LAYER BREAK for DL media (top right) select USER SPECIFIED and enter 2084960. Click ok and then burn. (THIS SHOULD WORK FOR THOSE THAT HAVE download THE GAME and want to break the layers OR FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO DO THE 15% SWAP TRICK. It is not necessary to break the layers for USA WII with WIIKEY - DVD9 works fine.)

the problem is that I start out fine, good speed, around 1200 but within 15 mins I am down to nothing and get a unhandled exception error. I am using rawdump as fridump looks a little complicated to me.I am basicly out of options. I tried the poi mode also. I know that may not be the correct spelling. I cant remeber what it was called exactly but I changed to that mode and no different. Can someone help with this issue?
It is one of the working 8082 drives....
OLO3 is the IBM firmware....

Are you saying rawdump dies after 15 min's... ?
Do you get the name of the iso coming up.....?

How are you connecting the drive to your pc via a USB device or is it a laptop?

all the reviews that I seen show this 0L03 works fine.
I had it hooked through usb/was told that hooked to a laptop it will overload the motherboard so I then realized it fit my laptop drive so I istalled it directly.I tried all versions of wiidump, safemode,no other drives hooked up,poi mode, about out of things to try.I did notice though that my son had stuck something in my wii a while back and the two disc that I am trying to back up have a single deep scratch all the way around them in the same exact same place. I am going to try a different one tonight and hope that is the issue

also I failed to mention above that it runs fine untill it is about 3/4 of the way finished and this is when I start having this issue. I can restart but it will not actually dump any more than it already has. It just looks like it is dumping for 15 mins but file never gets any larger.

This can happen when the game you downloaded... oh I mean "backed up all by yourself"... is of a different region.
Please hang up and try your call again, this is a recording

He said he dumped the game himself with the 8162B. Don't be so quick to criticize, sheesh!

This is a region issue, and I seriously dout he/she went to his/her local "wal-mart/gamestore" and bought an out of region game.

@ps2tester - try using wiigionfree and brick blocker on the iso

Does this require a ISO firmware hack ?

Sorry if I am repeating what may be already in here somewhere. I am new here and yes there is a lot of info to absorbe. Have the LG 8161 installed getting ISO, all looks good. Now I do need a chip! The model # of the system is model # RVL - 001 (USA)
serial # LU55948630. What chip do I need to get and where can I pick one up? Located in the Toronto area.

Thank you

No. All you had to do was read a couple pages back. Be sure to read carefully and my comments on that page:

FYI for those of you wanting to buy a LG or Sony drive to backup the wii ISO's. It's NOT NECESSARY!

Do it via your Wii, wireless router and PC. It's easy to do so via your wireless internet. I tried it last night and it worked like a charm. It took 2.5 hours like it would with a LG drive. Only issue is the package for the HTTP server is incorrect. You place it in your apps folder but eliminate the extra level. Otherwise the HTTP server will not show up in your homebrew channel:

http://www.lupiloop.com/index.php?cat=2&full=1&id=6

Only issue I had was firewall and IE related. They are right it's better to use firefox and your firewall will probably give you problems. So either disable it temporarily or creat an exception for it. If you don't know what I'm talking about and don't understand the backup package instructions don't ask. If you do understand and are having small issues I'll be happy to help. Enjoy.

YES you still need a mod chip to play these backed up games.

And what you didn't mention is:
1. gbatemp swallows for leaking this information to the public when it was in beta testing.
2. The developer has abandoned the project because of it (I would have too because of scags like you not doing what you are asked to do).
3. The loader is therefore not complete and works for some games.

So in a liberal sense yes it works, but keep in mind what I mentioned above.

I have just installed the LG drive and ripped 3 of my games. They are all 4,589,824 kb. in size
Can someone verify this size is right or what is wrong as it doesn't match what it says it should be in the forum

That is the size you see on the next to the icon but if you right click on it, then go to properties you'll see that the right size comes up (4,699,979,776 bytes)

Actually it isn't abandoned.
Wiigator took it over and then Waninkoko started helping.
And now Requiem is making a new one.

P.S. Only a few games don't work + they may read at 3X but it is coded so good that there is nearly no difference. And ALL that for FREE
