hi!

thanks for the guide, but it leaves several questions. @ least for me:

how do i know if i have an old or new battery?

does this work too?

http://www.psp-hacks.com/2007/10/22/one-...tware-required/

seems easyer with just a wire that can be removed afterwards...

and how can i open the batt safely?

thanks!!!!!

Oh my god.
So I come here to learn how to correctly cut pin 5,and so I proceed. But when I open up my battery, I already see a problem.
My battery is encased in some sort of metal, and I do not see any type of pin to cut.I got it with my PSP about a year ago, so I really dont know what to do, and I dont want to put this battery to waste. Sorry for sounding like a noob.

How many mAh is your battery (found at the front...) cause the 1800 mAh has a different PCB than the 2200 mAh and therefore have thepin located at different positions...

No - only 2GB and lower.
I suggest a 128MB.

EDIT:

I don't know - you should buy 2nd hand batteries - it's a better chance than getting a 1st hand one.

Since I have some positive feedback to this guide, I advise you to use all files included in this guide.

- I don't know, but I think you should go into a quiet place and give 100% concentration onto the battery.

Okay,

Great guide, looked really easy lol, not sure where I am with the guide though.

I have installed files on mem stick, this all seemed to work fine, I have also cut the 5th pin without frying my battery, this all seemed to go fine.

However, when i put the battery in my psp fat it boots up normally??

Is this supposed to happen?

If I go to games on mem stick i can see Pandora's battery creator, a corrupt file, and Despertar del Cementerio, when i try open these i get a message This game could not be started (8002014c)

Have i done everything correct?

Any help appriciated

Thanks

It shouldn't matter which battery it is, as long as you have installed the correct files into your MagicMS for your Slim, then you can use teh FAT TOOL Battery too... But if I were you, I'd get the Slim TOOL Battery - it's got a better chance for that to work than the FAT TOOL Battery.

Yes, mine is 1800 mAh. Theres a small board at the top, and I think I see the chip where pin 5 is, but I dunno which pin it is. If I can I'll post some pics later today. Im now thinking of buying one of Datels battery's if this one cant be helped.

Aquateens...
I think you may have the same battery as me hence my problems, is it the one with the circuit board on the top with a large chip on one side then several smaller ones on the underside??

If so I have already cut pin 5 on the chip that is clearest to the ones in the picture but my battery is still working like a normal battery.

I cut the chip directly underneath the big chip on the other side, I think these may be newer batteries (although i have had my psp for well over a year). It didn't work anyway so if yours is same I wouldn't bother unless somebody on here has already been succesful with one.

Think i'm gonna opt for the datatool one as well ;)

Everything you just described about your battery is exactly the same situation I was in. Cut the 5th pin, nothing happened, still worked like normal. However, instead of ripping my hair out about it, I bought a datel tool from amazon for £20. Trust me, its the best investment you will ever make.

Thanks for the guide! It worked out pretty well, but I still have a problem. After following the guide closely, I managed to get the CFW with my Pandora's battery. However, my PSP only seems to turn on when I put in the battery after I put in the MS. Also, when I do that, my PSP only boots up the upgrade/nand dump thingy when you first try to get CFW. After that, a decided to format my 25 mb MS. Now, my PSP won't even turn on. The Green light flashes, but I still have a black screen.

Did I do something wrong?

Just score the sides of the battery with a sharp implement, i used a standard kitchen knife. You have to do every side, just score the gap a few times and you will see it start to open, don't rush it because if you haven't broke the glue you may split the case, just be patient with it and its easy, if when its open you find a different battery from the pics then you may have the new style one, I have tried to mod mine in every way but to no avail, its the one with a circuit board on top with a large chip on one side and several smaller ones on the underside. My advice, keep it as a good battery and buy the data tool one off amazon for £12.99.

I'm not sure if you can backup eeprom with a hardmodded battery...
But to backup eeprom you:
Run Pandora's Battery Creator.
Press the triangle button.
Wait until it exits to XMB(PSP menu)

And 4GB will not work. Anything higher than 2GB will not work. I think that you should use 128MB - remember, magic memory sticks can be used normally without it being formatted.
