Seems more and more like multiple encryptions on 1 title, from easy to difficult, and varies by local geography. Just the luck of the draw if you get an easy one or not to back up

The BPI Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, EMI.
The RIAA Soundexchange Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, EMI.
The IFPI Are: The same anti consumer lot as listed above!
The MPAA Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, DISNEY, PARAMOUNT, FOX.

Sounds like a waiste of money if you ask me. They really need to just give up and spend more money on Production. I would spend 20$ at a theatre if a movie were Expected to be GREAT! I.e Lord of the rings.

I know this is a little late, been out of town. I used DVDFab 5, full disc and Nero to burn.

When I picked up Leatherheads from the mail and opened the dvd, there was a very light colored ring on the disk, about 1/8" from center. It ripped easily enough with dvdfab 5.0.9.8, and I'm processing it thru fixvts right now. Will report more later on.

*Update*

Ran the video_ts folder thru fixvts and ran those results thru dvd shrink. Success on all accounts. I started up the movie, and it played just fine. I ran it on fast forward thru over half the film....no glitches, stutters, or freezes.

On a side note, I purchase my disks from overstock.com, and on the shrink wrapping was printed the words 'Made In Mexico'. Don't know if that has anything to do with the ease I had doing this movie.

first off, i had the backup i discuss here made before they released it, but has anybody tried the dvdfab 5.0.9.8 Beta? sorry if you've already posted, i didn't see anything about it as i skimmed through the thread.

i hate these dvds with structure problems - a lot of times you think you have a good backup and you go to play it, and it doesn't play right! break out your -rw discs and remember, if you can rip it, no matter what it looks like, something can be done. i always make full disc copies. here's my experience with this one:

1-ripped with dvdfab 5.0.2.8 (i don't upgrade until i need to and i saw on here that dvdfab hadn't cracked this one yet)
2-opened with shrink and noticed the main movie in "unreference material"
3-compressed with shrink anyway and burned to an -rw disc. actually, everyhting was fine with this copy except that there were no credits at the end. it was good enough for me, but i felt like playing with it.

4-so, i ran the files through vobblanker. it fixed the structure in shrink except the credits were all out of whack. they played at the end and also repeated a few times at the beginning before the main movie started.
5-i made a re-authored main movie only copy using title 33 and the cut/crop feature within shrink to remove all of the credits at the beginning. DO NOT COMPRESS IF YOU DO THIS. My file size was 1 MB larger than the original main movie file size.
6-re-ran through vobblanker, processing only the main movie title set. i blanked title 34 (the credits and other junk) and replaced title 33 with my re-authored version that had credits included.
7-opened with shrink, did away with extra audio streams and what have you, and shrank to fit on a SL disc.
8-burned to -rw, verified in 2 different dvd players. both started and stopped where they should and played the credits at the end. and i watched one of these all they way through - played perfect, no skipping.
i didn't see anybody talk about using the replace feature in vobblanker to make this backup, so i hope my experience helps!

Look up 5 postings and you will see mine stating that I used dvdfab 5.0.9.8.

Not to rub it in for anyone that hasn't managed to rip Leatherhards yet (even though they should be able to by now, what with all the detailed success stories throughout this thread), but i recently tried my hand at my first DVD to AVI conversion. Leatherheads just happened to be the first movie to hand on the hard drive at the time -

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/705903/4295188

Am very impressed at the quality of the conversion, especially as the movie had already been thru a conversion via DVD Rebuilder..

I'm not sure if anyone is still having a problem with this movie but after trying various different methods I found a way to get a functional full disc copy with dvdfab

This is for those who don't have anydvd or clone dvd and have already used up their free trial:

1. Rip the full disc with dvdfab 5.0.9.8 beta

2. Open with vobblanker and then open the main movie cell list, blank cells 1, 3, and 4. (Optional: blank any extra's/trailers you don't want) process.

3. Compress with rebuilder or shrink and then burn with the app of your choosing.

You should now have a fully functional menu and a main movie that starts at the universal logo and ends at the very last seen looping back to the menu.

(Credit goes to 1bonehead for being the first to use the method of blanking cells 3 and 4). http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/702574/4277638
Blanking cell 1 cuts out the credits yet still retains the dvd structure necessary for the menu loop.

EDIT: credit given where credit was due, I skimmed through the posts and failed to find who had the idea first, thanks for the link iluvendo.

Finally, I started a new thread on forums a couple of weeks ago when Leatherheads first came out asking anybody having trouble with Leatherheads, never got an answer till I got the the newsletter today, finally some answers.

A friend of mine who is a big Clonney fan bought it and asked me to make him a copy cause his wife handles movies worse than a badger, I said sure no problem clone and anydvd can do anything.

Well to my embarrassment kinda made a fool out of myself, will think before I speak next time, as I stated many times before on threads I never use others besides clone and anydvd cause the others are just to complicated for me, I waited for an update to no avail and several days later he came back to pick up his movie and of course I apologized.

I remember a while back when anydvd had a problem with one of the Saw movies, it did take them almost two weeks for a proper update and wa la success, not complaining it was just a small inconviance, clone and anydvd to me are well worth the bucks but I did want to help and impress my friend.

Anyhow, I have not read every page on this thread yet, I will as soon as I check for an update, and normally I get an auto notification on anydvd updates but so far none, just that I wont be seeing my buddy for another month at least cause he goes away a lot with work.

Either way can't wait to find out if anydvd has solved the problem.

Hey Zo how' it hanging, I just read on the previous pages you mentioned about a problem with sex city and leatherheads using dl, I tried using a dl disc on iron man even though clone said success its all blank, I've only used my dl's twice before with no problem, I copied the whole disc, wonder if I had stayed with just the movie what would have happined, just puzzled why it said success when it wont load up any any player or even on my computer.

Fred if you are using DVD+R DL media make sure you use Verbatim burning at 2.4 to 4x max and booktype to DVD-ROM. Yes you can do movie only and put on a DVD+R DL i have been using DVD Rebuilder instead of buy DVD+R DL media much less expensive plus DVD Rebuilder gives you perfect quality playback to a DVD-5 SL disc

I never use anything besides ty's ot verbs, even though I tried Maxell's some months ago with some problems which thought me to stay with ty or verb's no matter what something you and the guys on the ty thread thought me a long time ago.

I used a verb dl, I burned it on 8x, as far as booktyping, not only do I not know how to do it I don't even know what it means, you know my incapability's lol, and I only use clone and anydvd, I did have success with it before with dl's, maybe the 8x did it, I will try one more time with 4x

I don't know if you remember a while back you sent me several websites on freebies, I think dvd rebuilder was one of them, last year when my HD crashed I didnt have a backup (yes I learned my lesson) if you can do that for me one more time I highly thank you.
