NXE does not ban the console for one it would make no mistake to ban the console before the update only to ban on the update for two the update did not ban me

however keep this in mind
if you dont update you dont get to go onlive (thats the same as being banned so i see little point)
as yet no one truely knows whats causing the bans we all have are theorys but no proof and to behonest it will proberly stay that way for ages 9though atleast on this forum we can openly debate what it might be (unlike other more stuck up forums) so theres a chance of getting to the bottom of it eventualy )

The modded thing is an interesting idea though... I'm not sure a flashed dvd drive would make a difference if the nxe update was just reading a string which had the game's id/name or something simple like that.

Do you think there will be an Update avaiable for non Live users, Like some of the games have updates in them, if you can rip the game to the HDD it should make the machine abit quieter.

I'm guessing it has to be... all the previous updates were mandatory to be playing on Live, this probably isn't any different.

Yes I do.And I got the leaked version used that for a few weeks ,then this mourning I updated to the off one.

Yes you can either do a google and get the leaked version which i did a few weeks ago. Or I see that the Offical update is on Newsgroups already,But you will not get the avatar, that is it.

So referring back to my post on preparing for the NXE update, I know that I have had some "bad/nuked" discs that were played on my box. (i.e. COD5 with jitter issue reported by that ABX(sp?) program, while using ixtreme1.1rev2. (I KNOW, I should've updated long ago but forgot what ver i'm using...anyway) If I erase the game profiles and save data, and remove the HD prior to logging on...can M$ still see that disc has been run on the 360? FYI: I have NOT connected to live (cable detached) since having any "bad" discs. Just trying to see if I can disarm the landmine I stepped on, or is it just all over for me. :-P Without the HD, can the update still be "installed" somehow?

If you have modded your Xbox at all, there is a chance you will get banned. No method is 100% foolproof.
It is all a risk-reward deal with modding any console. Is the risk of being caught and banned offset by the benefits of having a modded console? No one can answer that but you. At $199 for an arcade 360 a strong arguement can be made for the Mod.
I have two 360's one modded, one not modded...(Lite-On drive so my options are a little limited) If Xbox live play is that important to me or the game is that good I buy the game and go online to play.
I just can't see the reasoning in paying $60 for Kung Fu Panda, Bee Movie and similiar games for the kids that get ruined rather quickly.
Gears 2? Totally worth the purchase, others not so much.

Instead of waiting for someone else to try NXE, download it and try it yourself. It's not going to ban you--your previous actions on a modded console will.
As for me, I just installed it and it works fine.
Live in fear underground, or grow a pair and see what NXE is all about.

That isn't necessarily true. With each dashboard update, it is possible that MS has created a new method of detecting copied games. If that were to happen, then you could expect a new version of ixtreme to address it. But that's why we have some different versions of ixtreme, to account for detection methods that were released with the dashboards. So you could get banned from doing that, not something that has happened before (although in this current case, we don't know yet. C4eva will analyze it, and see if it is detecting anything new).
