It really shouldn't take more than 1 or 2 tries to get it to load...I find it hard to believe that it is a laser problem because if it reads originals fine, the laser is working fine. In fact, if originals boot flawlessly, the problem is probably with your discs. I would reccomend asking for a replacement from the company you purchased from.
If you are so inclined, you may try this...It won't help you as much, but it will give valuable information to me. I've been trying to become the SM expert of this thread hehe Anyways, here's what you do. Download a SM disc image off the internet (Search for a torrent) and then compare the two files. Check to see if your computer can read the disc entirely and make sure none of the SM disc is corrupted/unreadable. Are the discs in decent condition? Perfect condition?

after i put the swap disc in when i open the flip top cover it says"insert a bigger TOC disc"

If it says insert bigger TOC disc, it is detecting that you opened the console. Make sure all the components are installed properly. Are you using a slim PS2? Sounds like one or more of the tools have come out of place.

O.k. i have searched and searched untill i am now seeing blurry. Simple question..I have been reading a myth about being able to boot a new ver (and Copied) of swap magic with an older (an original) version of Swap magic.
I have an original swap magic 2.0 and i downloaded a 3.6 version. Tried booting with my original, then swaping it to the 3.6 and hitting X and i got the pink boarder. Is this myth busted or is there more to this trick that i have missed? Thanks for your replies.

After much deliberation, I have reached a decision that it SHOULD be possible. I have not attempted it, and have never heard of such a thing. For the very first time, I will now ask a question about SM, why do you want the more recent version? Does the old version lack the video formatting or something like that? I'm not sure what is wrong with what you are doing.....Have you tried again? Also, try on a diff PS2 if possible. I've never heard of booting newer SM with older SM. Strange...

Welp, reasion i am tring to run the new ver is that my very out dated ver 2.0 will not boot some newer games like Metal Gear 3 substance or urban chaos riot squad among some others. I would rather not dish out $30.00 on the new ver to play only a handfull of games. and i am deffenatly not upgrading/trading in my old ver for the new ver since they want a copy of my drivers licence or passport (screw that).
So i tried booting it a few times but get the same outcome (pink boarder). I have a slim ps2, My brother has a 1st gen ps2 that i guess i can try it on, but then i have to mod it to use the old slide card and i know he's going to bitch about that. So i guess this was just a myth. Damn, the idea seemed feasible.

Hi!
I am new to all this kinda stuff so bare with me. I have just bought 'PS2 Swap Magic 3.3'. It should arrive in the mail in about 2-3 days. How do I use it with a Slimline Console? Is it even compatible with a slimline console??? If someone could please give me a clear set of instructions on how to do it, what is the best disc brand (media) to be using etc, that'd be great thanks. What is this 'breaker pro' thing? Do I need it to use Swap Magic? Do I need to have an old bulky PS2 to be using Swap Magic? Also, if someone could please let me know a good program to use to burn ps2 games on my computer, that would be much appreciated.

Hey,i bought swap magic a week ago and it was working fine, today i tried to load up Gran Turismo and when i hit load program it started making this clicking noise, and the disc wasnt loading up then it said it wasnt a valid disc, so i thought maybe its just that disc. Then i tried 4 more backups i had that worked earlier and they didnt load up either, it did the same thing as gran turismo, but it loads originals just fine. Can someone help me with this?I have a V14 ps2 SCPH-75001

Yeh, you know why there's ten pages? Becuase of repeated questions. If people would take the trouble of reading the 2 or 3 pages there used to be instead of reposting the same questions everyone else has asked, this thread wouldn't be so ridiculously long.

Hi Guys,
I am sorry for posting the same question in multiple threads but it seems like there are multiple active threads for it. Since I have not yet got a response in any other thread yet I am trying my luck in this thread looking at the quick responses from some of you people here.
I got myself a PS2 SCPH - 77001 Black one. I am looking to buy a software mod - Swap Magic Disks 3.6 and Magic Keys 2, but I am not sure about the compatibility issues, none of the sites talks about my version of PS2 compatibility part nor does the start of this thread.
Could any of you who has the same version or who knows for sure what kind of software mods work with my version of PS2 please let me know so that I can go ahead and order one. I am looking to buy it from revolution-store link that I found from one of the other useful thread on this forums.
Thanks,
Angie

It looks like Slimline to me meaning it does not have anything written saying slimline but the model is quite slim :-)
Sorry this is my first PS2, but I have got lot of info about it from this forums which I found via Googling.
Thanks Razor for quick response. I am awaiting a further reply.
Thanks,
Angie

Get the swap magic with a key set. The key set is for slim ps2's specifically. the slide card is for original ps2's. There should be very easy instructions located on the site you buy from on how to install them.

Yes, they are little pieces that go in your slim ps2 to fool sensors. This is the hardware part of SM...

Yay thanks Razor.
I just placed an order for SWAP Magic Disks 3.6 and Magic Keys 2. I beleive it will arrive early next week as i selected express option.
I will update you how it goes. One suggestion to the owner of the thread to update the first post itself for the latest version, in order to avoid multiple threads for newer versions :-).
Thanks Razor once again.
Angie.
