vlad, first I wanted to thank you for researching before asking. Second I wanted to say that I appreciate your sig. Am I the only one that remembers that one? It's like the story of my life! But I'm insane. Anyways, about your Swap Magic. If you can boot up a retail PS2 game, but not a backup, there is a problem with the discs. I read that you use memorex, and there is a very serious problem. I wouldn't buy memorex to save my life. They used to be good, now they are crap. Invest in some Verbatim or other awesome quality DVD's, and only use DVD-R's at least until you have some experience. DVD+R may work but...Research that one;)

Zignoff, you gave almost no information about your problem. Do retail PS2 games load in your PS2? How about just a DVD movie? Either one will give me the info I need. Now...Please reply with that answer.
If the answer is YES: You probably have a defective SM set. Usually only one disc is defective, but maybe if you got a one in a million or something like that...If a retail game loads but SM doesn't it is the discs.
If the anwser is NO: You may need to mess with the cog, or it could be your laser, among many other things. First, blow out the console with compressed air. If that doesn't fix it, go to the cog method. I am not sure of the specifics, but the information should be readily available, a simple search should show this information in no time. I have not heard much about cog adjustments in V9/V10, but I have not dealt with either model, personally.
Hope this helps!

EDIT: In fear of getting a response that 'I couldn't find the info', I have searched for it, and found it in a matter of about 8 seconds. I have not tried this, and I'm not sure if it works or is even accurate, but here is the link: http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/laserV9.htm Now don't assume it doesn't work, I'm just saying that I can't verify it, as I have not tried it.

I have not personally used Phillips discs. I would, however, reccomend buying 8x media. I'm not sure why, but all (DVD) media above 8x speed that I have purchased absolutely sucked. Many people will agree, especially when it comes to verbatims. You can order Verbatims online at http://www.supermediastore.com . I have bought from there and it worked out fine. Also, you should be able to find Verbatim media at Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, or some other large store, provided you live in a decent sized city. I'll try and research the Phillips 16x...How many did you buy? I find that PS2's are kinda picky about media. Some disagree, but I am positive that good media is a must.

Well I have 99% success rate on copies from games...As for the downloaded games, I have a little less success, but if the copy is done correctly, I get a 99% success rate on those too. I don't think all Wal-Mart's sell Verbatim...I'm pretty sure mine doesn't, but good luck there anyways.

Name of Game - CODER 3.8
Game Region - NTSC
Media Make - Verbatim DVD-R
Media ID - Not sure, sorry
Disc Max Speed - 16x
Speed of Burning - 4x
PS2 Modification - Swap Magic Version 3.6, slide tool pro
PS2 Version - V5/V6 SCPH-30003 R
Game acquired - NTSC ISO
Rebuilded - No
Rebuilding Software - None
Burning Software - Toast Titanium 7.0.2
Hey guys, I've been looking around and can't seem to find an answer to this one: I have swap magic 3.6 and slide tool pro. it works great, but recently I've wanted to use coder or some other method to add cheats to my games. I've read about a lot of methods and none of them seem to work. so I recently downloaded and burned a copy of coder DVD (SMD 3.8) which I can boot using my original 3.6 DVD.
The problem is that even though the coder dvd will boot, it wil not boot any games. Instead it goes back to the browser and brings up the menacing red "please insert a playstaion 2 disk" screen.
I've tried putting in an original high TOC game like Xenosaga thinking it may be an issue with the TOC just not being high enough, but to no avail. the game I'm trying to boot is final fantasy XII (toc 4.3gb). Any help would be greatly appriciated.
P.S. This is the first time I've had something not work using these disks and this setup with the software mentioned, so I highly doubt those have anything to do with it.

Nilok, I don't quite understand...If you are using a copied cheat disc and a copied game with SM it should be easy. Boot up the cheat disc with SM like you would any other game and pick your cheats. Then when it tells you to put a game in, put SM back in and boot the game. The cheats are saved in the RAM and will carry over.

I'd think so too, but when I boot back into swap magic, swap magic tells me the game I try to boot is not a valid PS2 disk. though if I boot it with swap magic sans cheats, everything is fine. I've checked all the code and tried it with multiple games. something isn't working quite right. That much is certain.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Just got my swap magic discs today and got the slide tool too. Problem was no instructions came with it. I tried to work it out and what I found so far is you slide the tool under the disc holder into the machine to pull it out. But I can?t get the slide tool under it; do I need to take the front of the disc cover off to do this? How do I do this if I need to?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I don't understand what the problem is Nilok...I have done this many times. Can you boot the game straight with SM without putting in cheats? If you can but you can't boot the way I described....There is something extremely strange going on. It doesn't make sense to me, unless you are making some error. There is no reason this shouldn't work. The SM for slim PS2's should work with the new silver PS2 unless they added some part for it to not work. If it won't work, there will be new SM tools released in the near future ;).

yeah, it boots everything just fine. in fact the ony game I haven't been able to boot using Sm is DBZ Budokai tenkaichi2 and as it tuned out it was due to a faulty ISo which has since been repaied. so no problems at all. I've tried many methods when it comes to applying cheats to my backups and not one has worked.
As I said I even tried updating the TOC thinking that may work, but using DVDloader, using swap magic again after using the cheat device. combining the two methods and now using a backup of coder...none of it has worked. I looked for the method you mentioned before, but couldn't find it. would it be possible to get you to post it again? Thanks in advance

Hi,im new to the site and all the swap magic stuff,i kind of know some stuff but not much, i have a swap magic and i decided to make some backups,i done pro evo 6 fine, then tried smackdown vs raw and superman and they didnt work,it just said not a valid ps2 disc. I used Alcohol 120% and it worked first time, tried with the next two and nothing, burnt them on the slowest speed, so i tried using cheetah burner, but still nothing. Can anyone help?
Any prog suggestions or methods that i could try would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Nilok, here is my method:
1. Insert Swap Magic, as usual.
2. Boot the cheat cd with swap magic.
Note: I just thought about this...It won't work if your cheat cd is a CD and your game is a DVD. Burn the cheat disc to a DVD.
3. Pick your cheats and hit start game. I'm not sure how your cheat cd works, but mine is Gameshark. It goes to a screen where it tells you to put in the cd and press a button.
4. Insert Swap Magic again.
5. Boot the game you want to play. The cheats stay in the PS2's RAM and will carry over.
I have tested this method personally and it works fine. If it doesn't work for you, try a different cheat disc. I'm not sure what could go wrong...
poohjar, do more research before posting. I have attacked burning at the slowest speed several times! I'm not saying it won't work, I'm saying it is less likely to work, and it takes longer!

I have a slim ps2 and use the swap magic 3.3 with the slimkit installed. for the last few months it has been taking several tries (as many as 30 tries) to get it to the loading page.
Most of the time it just loads to the screen where it shows the memory card and ps2 disc. When I select the disc option, it does not load (so I have to reset the ps2).
The CD swap magic doesn't work either, and I have never used it. My PS2 can still play originals and DVDs, so I'm not sure whether it's a laser problem.
Any suggestions on what the problem is would be greatly appreciated! T_T
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
