Hey, just got a question. Whnen you connect to online gaming on a ps2, it uses DNAS to check hardware and software. if they found a modchip, what would they do? and is there a way to get onto online gaming with a matrix infinity an then disabling it while ur online?

sorry to break the flow of discussion...
theres a lot of talk about Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden media. i bought a modded ps2 off someone, and i tried everything to get it to play modded games. DVD-R didnt work and a lot of other stuff didnt work.
what i did was actually use SONY DVD+R!! and it worked! i was surprised that DVD+R was the right choice. has anyone ever used SONY? what do you think? keep using it or buy taiyo yuden? (i cant really find it here in canada-- well, not at major stores ne way).
please dont say anything you wouldnt say to someone if they were physically in your face.

if you downloaded it as a torrent,
no doubt you get lots .rar files and an nfo
extract the rar files
burn the iso to a disk a 2x
play the game
thats all there is to it

@JOSH
josh, this is pretty weird. why do some PS2's reject DVD-R media while others take it. youre recommending DVD-R, as do so many other threads and forums... i tried that at first and i musta used like 10 discs (fed them to the garbage). i then tried SONY DVD+R for the hell of it, and they worked. ne ideas why this happens?
to be honest, my DVD-R media was no name stuff. but i have used it to burn DVD movies without a single stutter or glitch and they worked like a dream. let me kn0w what u (or anyone) think(s) please.

Josh......thanking Cory for sharing....informative
@WabbaJ
The ps2 laser is a sh!t load pickier than any DVD player laser....Memorex will work fine with a DVD player, and you should know by now what that will do to the ps2 laser.
You admitted yourself that it was garbage media, so there ya have it. Also, older ps2's, up to version 5 i believe, actually likes +R the best, newer ps2 lasers like more media types, -R the most dominant.

@ svtstang
thanks for replying. ya, it was garbage media relative to what the ps2 would play i guess. it'd work in dvd players, but not in ps2, thereby making it crap in the eyes of a ps2.
i think that i must have an older ps2-- i bought it off someone. but thats good to know. i guess now when anyone gets advised, they should mention how old their ps2 is, just so they dont spend a lot on good DVD-R media, only to find that it doesnt work and they need DVD+R. well, i'll keep looking.
by the way svtstang, what do you think of sony media? should i look elsewhere? the discs "look" to be a good make... but i'm no expert for sure-- and i dont want to use stuff like memorex ;)
please dont say anything you wouldnt say to someone if they were physically in your face.

Whats the disk id on those Sony's? If your not sure, you can use Nero or DVD Decrypter, stick in a blank, and it will tell you the code. Im not a fan of Sony though, i stick to TYG02 8x DVD-R......they work awesome, only bad burn happened because i was transcoding a movie at the same lmao!

Is there a point to that? Always burn the mds if you have one...period. If you did and it didnt work, either your media is sh!t or you didnt burn correctly.

I have a quick question...
I downloaded a copy of a game i own (just to experiment some things) and before i tred to extract the rar files, i first did the QuickSFV file verification thinggy...
the problem is, most of these files get a "Failed. CRC Mismatch" message.
has anyone ever experienced this for games that they have downloaded? should i go ahead and burn the game? is there something i need to fix up first? maybe the WinRAR repair function? any tips please! thanks!!!
please dont say anything you wouldnt say to someone if they were physically in your face.

@josking
to be honest i dont think it matters that they are different sizes just right click the first 1 and select extract here and it should work.
@WabbaJ
if you actually get the iso when extracting it you should go ahead and burn the game, becuase at least then you would know if it works.
@Detrooit
when i use Nero or alcohol to burn it only lets me burn up to 2x, try burning your game at 2x thats the speed i use and i havnt had one coaster.

@josh,
thanks josh. i can get the iso if i want, even if it means allowing "keep broken files" with inwrar. i'm just a bit short on media so i didnt want to try before someone else shared their experience. looks like i gotta take a chance! but thanks for replying! :)

I only burn THE BEST AND THE LATEST ps2 games around. But, by accident i got 5 JVC DVD+R'S And 3 TDK DVD-R'S. But the first three games i burned were good ones, and they were on the -R's. i have a v12 slim ps2 PAL with matrix infinity green dot. will they work? i have not installed matrix yet.

No one really cares what games you burn and whatnot. Check the media code and if they are good, then yeah, it will be good on any modchip.

True that psp....
I only burn the oldest and sh!tiest games.....who cares? lmao! V12 lasers are less picky than older fat ps2's, +R should be fine.
