They're CloneCD files, so use CloneCD to burn to disc.

Hey everyone, this has got to be the most productive post about ps2 disc burning on the web so heres my problem;
I just got the new Swap Magic Coder for my Slim ps2. I use Maxell DVD-R's. I have DVD Decrypter, Alcohol 120%, Nero Ultra Edition (that has everything Nero made) IsoBuster, EVERYTHING lol. I just got Final Fantasy XII, and i want to back it up because its my favorite game in the universe and i would die if it got lost or damaged. I have a TEAC-Lite on 16x burner. Heres how i made the copy;
1.I used DVD Decrypter to rip the ISO.
2.Then i used DVD Decrypter to burn at 2x onto a Maxell DVD-R.
3.I try booting up the disc using swap magic, and it looks like its going to read it, but then that horrible screen with flying boxes and red fog comes up saying "Please put in a Playstation or a Playstation 2 disc."
I've tried burning at slower speeds, and ive tried clicking on the .MDS files instead of the .ISO of the game (which i read in another thread here is what you should do)and i even tried patching the dummy file, but i checked the files and FFXII doesnt have any dummy files...
please, PLEASE help me this is killing me! what am i doing wrong? is it my burner? discs? do i need some ELF files? patches mods hoobajoobas???
thanks
Spencer

Try zoneloader, it's like an upgrade or update for swap magic. I needed it for Scarface. I tried backing Scarface up 5 times and none of them worked. I found zoneloader, downloaded the one for the DVD games and all my none working Scarface games work. It might be something else but it sounds like what what happening with me. Anyway, give it a try, you will find zoneloader on here somewhere but I can't remember where. When you have put it on a DVD you need to load swap magig, then zoneloader and then your game. Good luck with it.

Try burning it at a higher speed. I burnt my game at the lowest speed and my computer didn't even recignize the disc. Try about 4x or full speed. Everyone says 4x works fine, but full speed works good for me.
The break of day is but beyond a cry of hidden sorrow.

I used the tesco cheap omes 4 for a pound and the ones in poundland same price for 4. They work great. Not sure why RW ones don't work but everyone seems to try them. I'm sure the ones you mensioned will work,

maaaaaaan
ok, I got ZoneLoader, burned it to a dvd, put in swap magic, put in zoneloader, swap magic said it was loading, screen went dark, then Ps2 browser showing the two memory cards came up, and it faded back into that same ol' screen, "PLEASE INSERT A PLAYSTATION OR PLAYSTATION 2 DISC". ?!?!?!??!
So... i mean that should have worked. I burned zoneloader on a maxell 8x DVD-R, at 4x, using DVD Decrypter. It went smoothly. I mean, im thinking it has to be something tangible. Or is it my ps2? COULD it be my ps2? its a slim v700012. but it plays games fine, no problem no skips or nothing.
can someone just like... give me examples of your burning experiance? what type of ps2 you have, how much your burner was, but specifically if you ever used Swap Magic v3.3+ to do it with. Is there somewhere i can go, someone i can call to who just KNOWS what theyre doing, and they can help me? because ive allready invested $100.00 into burning these games... help me!!!
thanks

@ZMurasame
Where do you live? If you live in the states, you have 0 reason for using such crap media like that. You can get 100 Taiyo Yudens, the best of the best, for around 25 bucks.....the dvd's you are using are highly unreliable and when they do work, wait a year....i gurantee you will start having problems. The dye used on those disks are crap, and anybody who whines and argues that media doesnt matter doesnt know squat.
If by chance you dont live in the US, still check out "the best media thread" here on aD and see what you can find locally...cmon Im 99.9% your getting games for free, so why not spend a few bucks on media that is worthy of putting the game on?

you know i had a feeling that i was using crap dvd-r's but my brother said that the dvd's i was using would work so your saying that i can get 100 Taiyo Yudens for around $25? sweet wait(sorry if this is a stupid question) do they work with a v7 PS2 with a dvd version of swap magic(2.0)?

Yes, media has nothing to do with the method you use to load a game, it has to do with the ps2 laser. Crap media is not only unreadable at times, but can strain the laser and in turn cause it to die out far before it should. Those DVD's should work, but the rate of successful burns is highly deduced and the longevity of the disks is also reduced.
Here is an awesome place to buy you media http://www.supermediastore.com Just search Taiyo Yuden or go under DVD-R and find them, they always have a special of some sort for them, and they are the best media you can use (Verbatim are also awesome) :)

Yeah Verbatim is 1st class media also, and wont let you down. I prefer Taiyo Yuden though, 100+ backups with no coasters is fine by me :D

If you can booktype, that is the best scenario, since booktype to DVD-ROM = compatibility as if it were a pressed disk. If you cant booktype DVD+R, get some -Rs, as they are by far most compatible media on the ps2.
