@ jumpman34 Yes. There's really no need for the swearing. That info is posted all over the forums, in the stickies at the top, everywhere.
@ GregInnes I'm not touching that one. I've had enough flame wars of late. Go with what works for you. Cheers!

@Tokijin
come on now, i thought i taught you better then to bite your tongue. I'll give you another chance, maybe tomorrow will be a better day and you'll find just the right words to tell him just how stupid that post really was and how Sony disks are only better then TY's in the particular poor burner/firmware/user combination used by the poster in question.

Lol. Very well KC. @Greg Innes. Just so you know if those Sony DVD+R's are made in Japan, guess who made em... Taiyo Yuden. What's the Media ID on them? Run them thru DVD Identifier and post the results. I was a little gun shy, because my internet connection was down most of the night. I doubt there's anything wrong with the TY's you ordered, maybe your firmware isn't up to date, or something else is awry. I'm not going to have a flame war with you, but KC is right. Most times people have issues with quality media, it's user error. That's far more likely than a bad batch. That's my two cents. Cheers!

i have all updated firmware etc and have a really good burner (freecom) and the accucore discs are the best.Taiyo yuden work but when you press load program it stalls for like 2 seconds and then comes on but with sony once i press load program it comes right up with no stalls what so ever and the discs were made in taiwan not japan(as tokijin said to me when i gave him the sony disc id) cause my asda doesnt stock any made in japan discs.

Well then this is one of those rare circumstances. The MIT Sony's are decent, but they're not on par with TY and Verb's. That comes from many burning guru's who have burned more discs than both of us combined. That also comes from my personal experiences using the MIT Sony's vs. TY. The MIT Sony's are good, but TY is near flawless. Again it's a matter of opinion. If the MIT Sony's work for you, then use them. I'm not going to sit hear and say they're shite media, they're not. But empirically, from everyone I've known and personal experience, Taiyo Yuden has produced the most successful burns over the longest period of time, end of story.

93. Q. How can I tell if my burned disc is of good quality?
A. Well besides you using quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's, you can use a program called Nero CD/DVD Speed to measure the quality of your discs. It measures POF, PIF and gives your disc a quality score based largely on it's precoreded Media ID. In my experience that's the key component to getting a good quality score. A crap manufacturer like CMC Mag won't maintain a great quality score over time, even if you follow all the advice given on AD for successful burning. You don't need to know exactly what PIF's and POF's are, just know the more of them, the more likely your disc will skip, lag, freeze, or not boot at all. When people say CMC Mag or Memorex media is crap, that info is based largely on many Nero CD/DVD Speed scans by burn enthusiaists on CMC Mag media that have yielded terrible quality scores. Try it yourself and see. You can find Nero CD/DVD Speed here: http://www.cdspeed2000.com/go.php3?link=download.html Plextor DVD Burners aren't compatible with Nero CD/DVD Speed. For their DVD Burners you need to use a program called Plextools, which does about the same thing as Nero CD/DVD Speed minus the quality score. You can find Plextools here: http://www.plextools.com/download/download.asp
DVDInfoPro: http://www.speedlabs.org/downloads/Tools/DVDInfoPro/winxp_standar...

Nope it's buyer beware with unknown sites. You've been provided a list of reputable vendors. If you order out side of that, you get what you get.
86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/buyerguides/buymedia.htm
106. Q. Where I can find top notch Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media locally?
A. This is somewhat of a crap shoot. Big manufacturer's like Fuji, Sony, and Maxell have at one point past or present payed Taiyo Yuden to manufacture media for them. The big companies slap their name on the label even though the discs were manufactured in Japan by Taiyo Yuden. These discs will always be made in Japan. Authentic TY media isn't made anywhere else. Even if it says Made in Japan on the label, there is no gauruntee of getting authentic Taiyo Yuden media. You could still end up with Sony or Fuji media codes. Hence why I said this is a crap shoot. Places like Comp USA, Office Depot, Sam's Club, and Staples will carry Made In Japan branded discs. Again there is no way to know for sure from the package whether these are authentic Taiyo Yuden's. If you don't want to risk getting non TY discs, you can find 50 packs of Verbatim in the afore mentioned chain stores. One other alternative is the Made in Japan High Grade Maxell DVD+R's. They will say Made in Japan on the label and "High Grade" as well. These are excellent media. Remember when using DVD+R's, it's best you have a burner that supports booktyping/bitsetting, and a v.4 PS2 or later. Much thanks goes to kivory666 aka "docTY" for this information. He is indeed the Taiyo Yuden master. The best place to get authentic Taiyo Yuden media is from reputable online vendors like http://www.supermediastore.com http://www.rima.com http://www.meritline.com or http://www.newegg.com

I can't guaruntee 100% they are since I'm in the U.S., but if they're on that list you should be fine. A lot of people in the U.K. order from http://svp.co.uk/products-list.php?cid=115&PHPSESSID=02052203f5f0...
They're supposed to be excellent, kinda like the supermediastore.com of the U.K. I'm not sure they deliver all throughout Europe, you'll have to check their site and see.
@ biboyaka Check to see if any of those I mentioned are available locally. If all else fails get some Sony DVD-R's. Try to find ones that're Made in Japan. If you can't find those, settle for the Made in Taiwan. Check the label to see where they're made.

Well then you got screwed or screwed yourself by not looking around more. You can get good quality media online. I don't care who the manufacturer is, I would never buy media made in India.

I'm not aware of the SONY0xD being made in India. It's possible, but it's rare. Some of the worst media in the world seems to come from India. If they are real Sony's, then they should be okay. I have my doubts. Post some scans or there's no real proof they're legit one way or the other.
