DVD+R's don't wear down your PS2 any faster than DVD-R's. That's a popular misconception. It's far more likely your PS2 wore down because you were using cheap media like CMC Mag. What kind of media did you use for PS2 backups? Do you still have any on hand? I use DVD+R's all the time with my PS2 and have never had any issues. I use quality Taiyo Yuden DVD+R's.

What version PS2 did you have? It could have been laser burnout if you had a v.12. There's no telling who manufactured those TDK DVD+R's. It could've been anybody from Taiyo Yuden to CMC Mag, probably the latter. Why do you think it was DVD+R's that destroyed it?

da dude that fixed my ps2 said that my "LAZER" almost burned out because i used DVD + media.
So he changes some transistors, but he said that maybe my "LAZER" may burn out if i would use + media.
So maybe he s right, he owns a ps2 club...

I have a couple friends that're modders, and that just doesn't hold water. I am 99.9% certain that quality DVD+R media doens't wear down your PS2 any faster than DVD-R's. V.1-3 PS2's don't handle DVD+R's well. V.4 PS2's handle DVD+R's booktyped to DVD-ROM fine. Again I believe my original suggestion is the cause, more than likely that TDK media was garbage. Maybe you had a bad laser. The fact that guy would even mention DVD+R media wears down your PS2 laser faster than DVD-R, makes me question his knowledge of the PS2, media, and modding.

I don't know what brand per se, only that they are pressed DVD-ROM's, that can only be burned with a press burner, a very expensive piece of equipment.

For burning PS1 games can I just use any brand of CD? Or is it just as complicated as this has turned out to be?

It's better to use quality CD Media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, or Sony.

you need to do more reading, especially in the rules of posting. you can't openly admit to piracy in the forums and that is exactly what your doing.

Quote: between u n me......this iz a legal purpose im doin this for so can u help me with it?
hate to bust your bubble but:
Quote: i downloaded UTorrent n im downloading the "godfather ps2 [PAL]" in ..........what exactly does PAL mean
is blatantly obvious to me that you do NOT own the disk your trying to backup. you don't even know what the format means, PAL is European 50 Hz, NTSC would be US or Jap 60 Hz.........
if you READ the forum rules, (being a newbie is no excuse for not doing that already, you agreed to them when you signed up) then word your question in a way as to not blatantly ask for help pirating and I/we would be more then happy to help answer your question. also ask the question in the appropriate forum (new thread). you question is off topic for this thread.
kc
EDIT:
Quote: and actually downloaded Alcohol 120%,............ all r just trial versions except alcohol cuz i got the key for that
is yet another openly admitted piracy issue.

Hey wait a minute people, If I bought my own DVD Movie and want to copy it, there is nobody in this world that has specificly noted that it is illegal, thats still up in the air, I mean isn't this getting a little crazy, everybody and there mother talkes all about decrypters and how to use them, when people have troubles making certain copies of some movies all kinds of people chip in to help, than all of a sudden some kind so called words it incorecctly and now he's told to clean up or get off, there are so many inconcentencies here, some treats say nothing and some come down on you with a sledge hammer, and don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a wise ass, but this is really starting to smell bad, like big brother syndrome.

all that is asked out of anyone posting is that you NOT post outright that your pirating. all the user had to do is start a thread saying "i have XXX and i want to back it up but i know next to nothing about it, can anyone make a suggestion?" and they'd of got all the help they'd ever needed. also if they'd of bothered to read Tokijin's FAQs they would of had all the answers and NEVER had to make a single post.
saying 'Hey i rented (or downloaded) XXX and i wanna copy it before i have to take it back to blockbuster, can you help me?" will get you no where.
as uncommon as it is you still have to use common sense in how you word what you ask. this was pointed out to this user but they just posted the same question by copy/paste it into many threads. 'The Man' can use posts like that to shut down AD, i don't think any of us want that...........well there are a few folks of a late but not the majority.

Most likely. The DVD+R Sony 8x MIJ's are guaranteed to be Taiyo Yudens. There's a good chance the MIJ 8x Sony DVD-R's will code out as TYG02. You can always return them if they don't.

So, after reading the first post here, I went to the store to buy me some DVD's. Futureshop (Canada) has these DVD's called Comstar. I bought a 200 pack for $40. I have to say, I got a good deal, I think. I used DVD Identifier, and the media code is MCC003. So according to the first post, these should be first class media. Has anyone else ever heard of Comstar? Also, I had the same problem as Rockk. I had a v9 that lasted a year, then suddenly died. I do think it was media related, so I'm going to give one of these comstar's a shot.

You lucked out getting some (Comstar?) MCC's. Those are made by Mitsubishi Chemicals, and are top notch media. The 16x Verb's have cause people some issues with PS2 backups, I always recommend getting quality 4x or 8x media.
