Makes sense and all, except it won't help me here. There aren't any problems with the computer as far as that goes. I'm assuming it might be a wrong setting or a difference in the bios causing the problem. A resource cd won't help.

I'm trying to upgrade the hard disk in my softmodded xbox.

I copied the eeprom.bin from my UDATA folder, and locked the hard disk (western digital WD800 80GB hard disk) successfully, and copied all the data to it, but when I put it in the xbox i get error code 13.

I'm very confused! I've tried many times, with different softmod configurations on the xbox.

Regards,
Ben

I fixed my problem, if anyone is getting the same error I cloned my softmodded stock xbox hard disk to the new hard disk, and used Autoinstaller Deluxe to format the F: partition.

ostoroth and cheynems:

I know this may not help a whole lot buy when I was upgrading my HD, the process did not work on my HP computer, so I tried my second computer which is like 8 yrs old and it worked. There was another person on this thread that said it took them like 4 computers to finally get it working so you may have to try your friends computer.

Other idea...The boot cd should load no matter what (if it burned correctly) as long as the bios is set to boot from the specific cd drive. FOr the computer i used to upgrade the hard drive, it had two cd drives: a cd burner and a cd rom. I had to unplug one of the drives to get the cd to work. So try different computers and that might solve your problems.

guys you have to softmod the xbox first then u will beable to get the backup file. after that u can unmod it as long as u have the right tools for the job. i mean i already mod a ton of xbox's for some money from the time consumption. i just want to get a program that can partition all of the areas instead of just the E: area i need a soft mod that also partitions the f area. i dont want a old program either i got the newest version xbox version 1.6 but, it's not for my xbox cause i have a mod chip n all. its for my friend he has a standard xbox and i have the game mech to softmod it with.

I used Auto Installer Deluxe to do mine, although i've seen the option in UnleashX.

@Th3Gam3

If you had read my previous post, you would have realized that my xbox is softmodded. I already obtained a copy of my c and e drives, as well as a backup (the eeprom file). It was a problem with booting up, and I have been unable to fix it. My only solution is to hardmod my xbox, which I am doing. Thanks anyway.

I've seen loads of similar probs caused by XboxHDM

the prob was the eeprom.bin was searched for in the wrong location, to fix place eeprom.bin in the root fo the XISO directory as well as in eeprom

(not sure if this may be related at all mind)

Also as for the problem with different computers not working, you need to use a computer with enough internal memory to run the program, and with the correct HD connector. It also helps to use the same computer that you burned the CD/DVD to. For instance a HP computer might not be able to read a CD/DVD burned by a Dell.

ASUS A7V333 mother board
256 megs ram

nate1490:

I did the mod for my cousin and don't have an xbox with me, but i know there is a menu under Settings (in UleashX) that will allow you to format the F: drive if you installed a larger HD. It will ask for a password which by default is "Xbox" with a capitol X...try it and see if it works.

Here is a link you should check out:

I have a softmodded xbox and im tring to upgrade to a bigger HD. i followed the xboxhdm until i get to option 1 load vga with xbox utilites(default). it looks like it loads two things, my cdrom spins up then the computer restart. Does any body know what the problem might be or some kind of fix.

Im know that the eeprom is on my on my xboxhmd cd twices because when i softmodded i had to back up the eeprom to E:\Udata\2158..ect and when i backed up from the dashboard it put the eeprom in e:\backup\eeprom also
so is this a problem.

Yeah your right my grandad has three computers and the cd works on all three but i followed the steps and i got a error 6. in the tutorial it said use eeprom from e\backup_linux, there was no backup linux just e:\backup. im going to try to ulock it with the eeprom form e:\backup that evox generated and lock with the eeprom back up from the udata when i first softmodded it. i compared the two eeprom and they are different.
