Ok, Sony wouldn't be that stupid to sell it for 600 or 700 bucks. Not that many ( if anybody ) would buy it. I think they'd rather sell it for 400 or 500 bucks and lose money on it. At least it would sell that way.

who knows. i know that here in the UK, sony charge extra on products like TV's b/c of their name. which is stupid.
in many shops and online, ive seen TV's that are far superior to certain sony models, yet the sony model costs more.
thats an factual observation ive made many times. and with many other products of theirs aswell.

they can sell the ps3 for 400$ and lose the money because of the bluray disks thats what will give sony their money.

$400 is basically consumer's best case scenerio and sony's worst. If it is released at 400, then I would honestly say I'm surprised that Sony would take that large of a gamble.

i agree thats just too much of a loss in profit. they've said at 600 bucks they still would be losing 200 bucks per system, now at $400...can u say bankrupt. Blu-ray wont be popular in the first yr or so, its going to take a while to catch on.i do understand whAt ur saying though, if it takes off then it could propel Blu-ray which we'll give them some kickback and all is well.not likely though, sorry to break the news sony fans

You can't compare a ps3 with an xbox360 until you take into account the added cost of an xbox hd dvd drive. Current 9gb DVD's will be as outdated in a couple of years as cd based games are now.
Have we got a cost on the 360 HD DVD drive add on yet ? - you can't complain about the price of the ps3 until will do.

just simple logic,,ps3 accesories will be more costly, most likely games will cost more or they wil be losing money there too. cant have their cake and eat it too, using the more expensive discs will cost sony or the consumer money, lose lose situatiion for sony. thats the nice thing about the 360 though, u have ioptions unlike with sony, if you want one you'll have to fork over xtra money for the Blu-ray player, yeh thats right the extra money is for the Blu-ray player not the system. the Blu-ray will not affect the games in any way shape or form. to support my theory i use this link that rabbity put me on to

by the time the PS3 even comes out, prices will have dropped on xbox 360 accessories. you could then probably buy a used or refurbished 360 for $249.99 when PS3 will be trying to sell theirs at about $400.
THE 360 IS CHEAPER AND BETTER!

The ps3 seems to be stalled not for the gamesystem aspect but for the Blu-ray technology to be finalized. I guess their kinda connected but blu0ray will not help the games in anyway really. true they will be harder to be or nething like that but they will have extra space they wont be used. dvd's used in the 360 are not even pushed to their limit, not even close yet. for the ps3 coming out a yr after the 360 and costing more its just not much of improvement from what ive seen. I'll give you that the 360's luached sucked. they also should work on some more unique exclsuives.i heard someway refer to the way sony approaches the whole thing and it was pretty dead on.. they said" its like an old fish story, where every time the story is told the fish gets bigger". I hear so many "facts" from peopl eonly for them to come back and change their story. lets be honest, what is said of the 360 can be closley considered truth because its out, playable and selling well. The ps3 is nothing but a rumor at this point so how about we keep it that way. None of us work for sony or have an inside track to information that is top secret. Not too much on the ps3 is offical, specs are even changing, systems dont fit the shell,os will take up 25% of the system unlike MS where its somehting like 3 or 4%.both systems will likely be great, just dont c why one would wait for systems that will in the end even out.MS needs sony, they need the competetion or vice versa since at the moment or in the last war i should say sony dropped MS on their a$$.without competition as much as it hurts me to say u have a ea madden nfl2k situation. EA is slacking off something fierce, they've klilled 2k by getting the license but madden 360 while enjoyable in alot of way sis not NEXT gen in any othe rway but viusally.sorry bout the no paragraphs but too much effort for me, cant type well so im staring at the keys and dont c the need to indent.

Quote: THE 360 IS CHEAPER AND BETTER!
Your a lucky man to have already played the PS3 and come to that conclusion. Most of us are still relying on snippets of video's and screen grabs.
The real topic has been quite squeezed out amidst the 360 fanboydom which has appeared here.
Is the ps3 going to be more expensive then an equally specced 360. YES.
Does this mean that it won't be worth the extra money. ?????????
I don't think even Ken Katuragi knows that yet.
Keep an open mind people.

ps3's price just will NOT be worth it,Blu-ray movies will start out around 35 bucks. thats the price of 3 to 4 old dvd's or 2 new ones and just for the visual upgrade. Now take into mind that they are capable of 1080p but no t.v's are capable of recieving that signal at this point in time(lets put it this way, they are rare). So your will have to buy a new tv to get your money out of your investment.ps3 will NOT be worth the price being how its specs are too similar to the 360, only reason system cost more is cause of an unproven visaul uprgrade that for the moment both HD-DVD and blu-ray(hollywood) is screwing the consumers. Loyal sony fans will stand for getting screwed but the 360 fans can have the option of getting the HD-DVD player or getting a solid up-conversion dvd-player. Sony's only hope is microsoft loses their court battle with lucent technologies and they pull 360's off the shelves(not likely). Ps3's price just doesnt seem justified to me if it costs anything over a $100 more than the 360...can anyone justify it to me? i know its not out so nobody knows the price but hypathetically can anyone justifiy the risk of getting the console and paying more?

In my opinion sony would have loved to have dropped blu-ray altogether but was pushed into a corner by Microsoft being ahead in development and had to come up with something bigger and better to justify people waiting.
Blu-ray is a system for the future and with all new things is going to come at a premium price. Its just a case of how much of a loss per unit Sony can take to get PS3's shifted.
I read recently that the first manufacturer to shift 10 million consoles has always won the war. So Microsoft have a good head start but its not over yet.

people are getting a little to picky nowadays, i love the improvement in graphics/visuals but its not worth the price we end up paying. cables and all for t.v's,cables and connections for dvd players. were getting ahead of ourselves, some of the technology out cannot even be utilized, its like they werent thinking ahead. 1080p found in Blu-ray and all cant even used and what happens when you need the hdmi input for your t.v as well as you Blu-ray player/ps3 and most t.v's only have one output. Ps3 has two and most t.vs dont even have two, good to see sony plan ahead but it seems like they went a little overboard. who needs 7 controllers, play online you can face more people that way, two hdmi inputs...nonsense at this point atleast.the price of ps3 is either going to screw sony or the consumer.. i c no middleground

my point was ms will always be able to sell at low prices, thats the real problem is paying too much for a system. Both are hella expensive and when it comes to deciding which console to buy, alot of people and probably a ton of parents are gonna get the cheaper of the two. Both systems will probably be pretty close in comparison to each other.

your 360 is freezing/ if so keep it off the groun or have it standing up. or maybe try the fan, my would freeze but then i put a vitamin bottles cap on each of the four corners and it has frozen since i've done that. my ps2 broke 3 times so sony's product isnt perfect neway, broke three times i said. 2 of the big ones and one of the slim ps2's. I had it worked on by straland video and then it broke again like a yr later. I called sony and told them i had it worked on and it broke again, they then told me to send it out to them and they would fix it for free. I paind the 40 bucks and had it sent out to them, a week later i get my ps2 in the same box with a note saying since it had been worked on it was no longer a sony product. sony sucks the co*k!!!go 360
