The default for your router should be:

username: Blank
Password: admin

if you have set a password and forgotten it try holding down the reset button for 8-10 seconds this would reset the router back to factory settings

This link is a list of default router logins:

Guys, I am really upset and frustrated... The ones who had problem with those bloody LOW ID and PORT stuff see what I mean...

I have done everything I could and followed every single tutorial on the forum. Emule shows that I have got High ID but port tests on Emule are still failing and my downloads don't download anything at all!!!

I'm in Australia and my router is Netcomm NB1300plus4

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out on this...

Hi Hunter, can we have more info please...

What firewall/s are you using?

have you set all firewalls to off.

There are on some routers an option for QOS (Quailty of Service) and you can set this to high for certain applications. I know linksys do it not sure about Netcomm.

What do you mean by Port Tests? please explain what you are doing.

tell us what settings you have at the moment.

Also try changing port numbers to a higher range; I use 20100 to 20110

Hmmm!

Hi all,
I am back for more questions since the last time I left some questions. Thanks for all the replies, by the way.
My new question now is that I just built a new pc myself and the harware is as follows:

1. Motherboard: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813186086

2. CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16819103562

Other parts like DVD burner and case are not likely related, so I won't bother mentioning them here.

One important thing here is that nVidia has built-in firewall, and I am sure it is hardware firewall. I am thinking that this is the reason why I am getting lowids all the time, and I tried to modify some settings and I am not able to connect to emule servers any more. I have turned off windows xp firewall and modified other settings like punisher said, but still no luck. Can you guys please help me out here? Thanks a million!!

Generally the nVidia firewall is more trouble than its worth. Go into the nvidia firewall settings for your motherboard and disable it, getting yourself your own proper firewall.

Hello! Thanks for the answer darkan9el!

I don't know why, this shit has decided to work... That's really strange, sometimes when I restart my computer the ports get blocked and after 5 minutes opening and closing E-mule, changing the configuration every 30 seconds the ports open... I have used computers at home for more de 15 years and this software makes me fell a stupid newbie!

What did I mean by Port Test? When you click on Test Ports on Emule communication settings... on Options... Also, I have not got any special firewall... windows xp sp2 only...

have you or someone else ever experienced any unstable situation like that?

Do you need more information on my configiration?

Hi, nope never had any trouble re emule plus, emule, winmx and a plethora of other software. guess i'm just lucky that way, all my mates tend to have problems... guess who gets to sort them out?

Windows firewall is rubbish and its only half a firewall, disable the windows firewall and get something better; Zonealarm internet security suite is the one I use, this includes antivirus and spyware scanning, its better than norton and not as bloatware, my system perked up after i uninstalled norton and installed ZAISS.

Have you disabled the windows firewall while testing emule through the router? I'd also disable the router firewall while testing, to see if you get a good consistent connection. if you do get a good connection its probably a firewall issue.

For the time being you may want to try adding emule to the exceptions list in the windows firewall settings.

To do this go to control panel and click on the Windows firewall Icon, look through the list and if emule isn't listed it may be Windows firewall is blocking it... so, Click on the Add Program Button, there will be a delay while it compiles a list of all the programs, once the list appears scroll down until you see Emule and click Ok. try emule or reboot and try emule.

Good luck

I think software firewalls are generally better, they're not quite as absolute, but they're not going to be as difficult to make holes in, and if they don't work, you can change them easier.

I'm back again, this time it's about a new Netgear G814 Router I'm using. I've followed the port forwarding instructions specific to the router via emule, and still get lowID. The windows firewall is off.

start-run
Type cmd

then go to ipconfig
from cmd, the window will remain open so you can see what the problem is.

i was just looking thru the features of your router, sam, and it seems like (and claims to be) a top of the line router. it's got network duplexing to double the speed of transfer (which you should turn off when TESTING for emule), integrated NAT firewall, which means no more need for WinXP's firewall (not that IT was too useful anyways), and even claims to be useful for file-sharing and distributing mp3's (never heard a router advertise that before!). it also mentions being protected by a VPN (Virtual Private Network), which i don't know MUCH about, never having needed to deal with it, but i dod know that it has to do with encrypting data, and allowing you to download to the internet without others getting into your PC. don't know if it's relevant, but if there's an option to disable it (temporarily, if it IS enabled), it's worth a try.

i'm gonna read up on your router's manual abit later, if i come up with anything to try i'll let ya know. meantime, Netgear does offer 24-7 phone & e-mail tech support to REGISTERED owners, so you might try that. like i said, they DO seem to claim compatibility with filesharing...
here's a list of phone numbers, since i don't know where you're at:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101460.asp
you can use e-mail support at:
http://my.netgear.com/myNETGEAR/support.asp
if you decide to call them, keep in mind that the first guy you talk to is the "Basic Assistance" guy, who only walks you through the easy stuff, so if you explain to him EXACTLY what you're doing, and what you've tried, he may forward you to someone more "in-depth".
i'll let you know if i find anything more for ya.

To the "top of the range" status, great I bought it for £18.50 on ebay!
It's a shame it doesn't do wireless though. Still, one can't complain.

I've just noticed I'm running the default firmware and using emule's default ports. I'll try changing both of those and let you know how I get on.

Well, installed latest firmware, and the router stopped working completely!
Reinstalling old firmware...

Right installed older firmware, router now works again, but still LowID in emule. I've changed the default ports and changed my client from Plus to standard - still no difference.

Well, here's my problem: I have a router, HIGH Id on Emule, have checked all forwarding IP stuff but downloading speeds are so low I may as well take a vacation while downloading a 10MB clip.
Point is, when I got my internet connection (ADSL 1024/256 kbit/s) things were going GREAT for a couple of weeks. My eMule acchived speeds ut to 5KB/s but now it rarely exceeds 1KB/s, also periods of downloading are very short in duration and drop off soon.
Somewhere, somehow, something went wrong and I have no idea what. I formatted my PC, rebooted the router but the story is about the same as before. I'd not be concerned one bit if there was not the initial period when I could get me a 700MB file down in a day or two. Oh, and it's not due to the lack of sources either, I can assure xou that. Series like X-Files have lots of seeders and while I got initial ones down in a day or two, it now takes a week to get me some 5oMB. Sad. :(

Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

eMule is like that sometimes. I've had a 90MB file that took 6 months to download.

Have you tried changing port numbers, ISP's can block or slow down the bandwidth on common ports. They may even be choking your bandwidth, unfortunately there's not much you can do about that other than change ISP. you could try using Port Explorer; use emule to download it, or find it here: http://www.diamondcs.com.au/portexplorer/

Port Explorer will give you info on your ports that may help you get the most out of them.
