try burning the dvd+ disk slower even slowest that way the data reads you need the eeprom and u can use a upper case or lower case e i used both and sometimes one disk works and one dont. thats what i do when i get that problem.

you can't swap hard drives because each eeprom matches different motherboards. so take out the motherboard and hard drive to swap. if thats your need. but, i would thing that would be a waste of time considering you bought a new xbox or a extra one. it would be too much work

hi,

I have two xbox, one with modchip and 120 gb hd, and the other one with SID 3.0 softmod and the original hd. First i try to swap the discs but it doesnt work, later... after many attempts and configuration changes :-(... i decide to format my 120 gb, and left it like a new one.. then i follow the tutorial to upgrade the hd, ( boot with a linux image, creating partitions, formating, copying the c: and e: partition from the sofmod xbox disc, and run lockhd -a) all seen to be ok.. but the softmod xbox doesnt start, without running the lockhd -a i just got the microsoft error 5 screen and if i ran the lockhd -a i got the microsoft error 6 screen

Im using the eeprom from the sofmod Xbox. After run the lockhd -a it says that the command was completed succesfully but in the rest of the information i received this values : Security -> "Yes",
Lock -> "No". (i dont remember exactly the field names, but are some of the fields in the report showed after run lockhd -a). and if i run unlockhd -a only the security field changes to "No"

what can i do?

what can i do?

how fast did you burn the cd and what type of cd did you use

i used a dvdplus and i burned my cd at 6speed(slowest i can go)
after that i set my c spot up with the softmod already installed and then e with saves and addded apps to f

in dos i hooked up the new hd as master and let the cd do what it needed to format, install, then lock. after that i set the hd as (cs) and not master anymore then i turned on the xbox and everything took for me. i am useing a 180 gig hd and i have set up f and g drives

don't know if this helps but thats wut i did

You likely need to format your F partition. A quick google search brings the following info: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=xbo...G=Google+Search

Hope this helps!

did you check to see if the hard drive is lockable
i never had that problem so thats the only idea i can think of as long as u get a mod chip you really dont need to worry about locking your hd inless your going on xbl

yeah just get the chip and then after that you should be able to start restoreing the xbox read about the chips b4 you pick one you get and make sure it matches the version of xbox you have. also i would make sure that it has sometype of FTP access so you can start putting your files in the hd incase you dont have any files on the hd to begin with

I have an eeprom for a xbox and the old drive died last night, how do I use xboxhdm to get the eeprom file from a floppy disk? I got a dvd for a different xbox and the files are just the same and all I want to do is change the eeprom to the hard drive lock so the drive works in the busted xbox.

(if that makes sense)

my steps. laoded the softmod with NUDURE. It makes you back up the system. once done i copied from the xbox the following diretories

/e/backups/eeprom/backup/eeprom.bin inot the directory on my pc xboxhdm/linux/eeprom

then i copied over the c: and e: from my xbox into xboxhdm\linux

then i created the .iso burned it.

put the new hd into the computer it formatted and loaded everything. I locked it just fine. but when i put it into my xbox it loads up and stays at the XBOX splash screen then goes to error 13. any ideas?

I unlocked my original xbox hard drive with the unlock -a with xboxhd and it worked fine so that leads me to believe the eeprom that i copied to the cd is working since it unlocked the original. but i did notice the hard drive password key was different from the new hard drive key. do they need to be the same?

I had a similar problem, to get around it I went in the bios and detected the drive, then using the XBOXHDM disk I deleted the FATX table then rebuilt the xbox drive from scratch, this not only unfroze the drive but it put the proper key on the xbox drive ^_^

NOTE-: you may need to use a different pc to get this trick to work.

When i boot up the pc it detects the drive.

The weird thing is when it locks the new hard drive from the eeprom i get a different password hd key compared to the original.
So after it says that it is secure but not locked i reboot go into dos mode and run ATAPWD and it says it is locked when it is not. so I reboot unlock it through linux. then i lock it by entering the password from the original hard and place it in the xbox and i went from error 13 to error 6 which means it can not unlock the new hard drive. How can you tell if you can not lock a hard drive?

im using UnleashedX on my softmodded Box. I made the XboxHDM boot disc and everything works fine. I build it from scratch and everything goes smoothly. When i type the "reboot" command it wont reboot. right after it says flushing drives it goes nuts. i turn the power off and boot the disc up again and when i try to lock it with lockhd -a it says are you sure i say yes and it says aborting. Ive locked it with other programs(DOS locking tools) but it won't boot in my xbox(error 6) then it wont let me unlock the drive at all. this is happened with 2 different WD hard drives ive used( each were said to be compatible) i can unlock the drives using HDD unlock wizard but it cost a fee. Does anyone know why or what i can do to solve this problem???

Here is what I did: I used xboxhdm 1.9 to make a boot disk I followed all the steps correctly and I've repeated them numerous times trying to fix my problem. I chose to make the xbox hd from scratch.

I installed all my files and locked my hdd at the end with the hdlock -a command. I plugged it into my xbox and I get an error 06 which is the xbox not being able to unlock the hdd.

I used FlashFXP for the FTP and my dashboard is unleashx. I think the reason is that I am copying the shadow files instead of the real files. How do I get around this? I have been searching for days with no resultsor confusing ones at the very least.

I found this as well but I have no idea how to do the mount at all (I don't even know if it means from xbox or PC or whether to unlock it with configmagic final) I'm guessin on the computer

Quote:
There is a shadow partition, So unlock the factory drive (you should already have the eeprom.bin ).
Mount /dev/hda50 (drive E) to /mnt and /dev/hda51 (drive C) to /c. And then: tar cf /mnt/actualc.tar /c/* After a while it creates a copy of the files on drive E, in a single archive.
Lock the drive and put it back on xbox.
Take new hard drive (previously prepared) and mount /dev/hda50 (drive E) to /mnt, /dev/hda51 to /c
FTP to the Xbox and retrieve from drive E "actualc.tar"
Decompress (tar xvf actualc.tar) and place the files in the proper partition
lock the drive, swap old for new, and your're done it should work fine!
