people I need help big time and I don't no where to post for it...
I have Swap Magic 3.6, and my PS2 is open so you can say its Flip-Top
FIRST GAME EVER I burnt on my DVD writer was "The Puncher" and it works perfectly, right after it I burnt Driver 3... However, that does not work... it loads on to a black screen and that is it, the CD keeps spinning but nothing happens!
Today I rented "Tekken 5" & "Batman Begins" ... copied them the same way as I did puncher, but this time it tells me *Not A Valid PS2 CD*
I?m confused... the files on the original DVD-CD and the backup are identical, what the hell could be the problem? I need serious help, because I am being stressed and pissed and annoyed by this!
If you must know:
-Used DvD-Encrypter
-Read the game on to C:/ Drive
-Burnt The ISO File that was extracted to the C Drive at 4x & 2x
-DVD-R being used x8 speed Samsung pleomax
-Sony double layer DVD writer with 16x speed and the whole deal!
But yea... I did the steps over n over for all other games, but only the first "The puncher" worked... =S
PLEAS HELP SOMEHOW, anything would be great! Thanks

Ok. I have saw it over 20 times on this site man. All ya gotta do is read.
Dvd Decryptor
ISOBuster
CD/DVD Rom Gen
GDvd-XML2ISO
I am actually downloading Alcohol 120% in hope that it will burn better. I did the steps that Direct9x wrote down and I didn't get it to work. I posted my steps so maybe someone can tell if I went wrong somewhere.
But yea, those four programs should do it for you.

i took advice from here: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/
and i have just done this:
Okay?. I have moved from Old Black PS2 to Slim Line Black PS2?The Puncher works still, Driver3 has started Working fine? Batman Begins, loads up till you see the bat on the bottom right hand corner of the screen? nothing happens after besides the CD spinning very slow? and Tekken 5 is giving me ?Invalid PS2 Disk?
There is no pleasing this B****! Lol
Any ideas? Like I said before... All Backups are identical to the originals.
i have used Alcohol 120% on my Compact CD Based games, and DVD Decrypter on my DVD based games... as for ISO buster, thats a program like Daemon Tools to extract a .Bin & .cue file and show you its files inside. so yea...

Swap Magic 3.6 offers two discs. One is labeled "CDR", and the other is labeled "DVD." Since you are burning your games on DVDs, make sure you are loading with the DVD Disc Loader, not the CDR one, or you will that error message every time.

I have a copy of Batman Begins, same type of PS2 (newest slimline version), using Swap Magic 3.6, and having used my steps I've listed, my game loads and plays fine.
At first, I did just try to create an image with DVD Decrypter, then reburn the image, but the game presented the same results as you are receiving. So, I put the image through ISObuster, and recreated the image. In turn, the game loaded and plays superbly.

Gilakid,
When you got to the CD/DVD Gen portion, did you click the Volume button, and feed in "Slus" in the first box, followed by the number for that file? Also, in the next box, you have to key in the word: Playstation.
Example
Open CD/DVD Gen.
Click on "new project"
Click on "DVD project"
Click OK
Drag files over in the order they appeared in ISOBuster
Click the Volume button at the top.
Disc Name: SLUS ###### Producer Name: PLAYSTATION
NOTE: Your number has to match the number for the SLUS file for
that game. I have left this out, and burned a game that
did not play. You don't key in the decimal point, just
all of the numbers together.
Click Record.
Get two errors.
Click File/Export IML
BTW: I'm using -R DVDs

Make sure that you've used the patch file found inside the unzipped CDDVDgen.exe file, or the program may not be doing all of the work it's supposed to. If you got that file from me, and you double clicked it...
1. Will ask to Unzip to a default dir
or
2. You should click "run winzip."
3. Select "run winzip", and extract the files to a new folder.
4. Install the program from that folder.
5. After it's installed, run the patch file that was unzipped as well.

Many of you think that "easy tutorial" found on that site is the answer. Not all games will work via just creating and image an reburning it. It's not going to happen.
If you did get it to work, look at the bottom of your burned game. Take note of the burned area. Odds are in favor that the game didn't need all of the space to burn back to a blank, thus, leaving some free space on the burned game disc. As a result, the laser doesn't have to reach out to the outter edge to read the system file found on that disc.
It's best to always create the image with DVD Decrypter, then use ISObuster on it. Why? By just doing a simple image creation, then an immediate reburn, you take back with you the "dud space." If you were to actually look at the burned area of a retails PS2, you would see the game files are no where near the end of the disc. This is part of the copy protection. An actual PS2 retail game has "holes" or voids of blank space. Thus, when you rip a game, then think burning it back does the trick, that's not going to work. Your burner is forced to repair what it thinks to be a dud file, thus, pushing all of the files together, putting all of the blank dud data in the beginning, and pushing the game files to the outter edge of the disc.
ISObuster rids the initial image of the dud space. Then, when you rebuild that image file using CD/DVD Gen, you end up with a much smaller image file after you put it back together with IML to ISO. Now, the files are where they belong (closer to the inner ring), and the laser doesn't bother going past that since the dud data is not there any more. If you don't believe me, look at the images you've burned just using DVD Decrypter. Compare that burned game disc to one that you've burned using the same game, and using ISObuster (along with the CD/DVD Gen, followed by iml to ISO. Just flip the burned game DVDs over, and see the proof for yourself by looking at the burned area.
So, stop using DVD Decrypter alone. Do it like I've and many others have said:
** DVD Decrypter to create initial image.
** ISOBuster to extract the files of the image (doing away with the dud space.
** CD/DVD Gen to create the necessary files for rebuilding the image.
** IML to ISO to put the files together to create the final image.
** DVD Decrypter to burn the final image.
From there, say, your buddy wants a copy of your game that you've created. You can safely just use DVD Decrypter to create and immediately reburn that image. ISObuster is not needed, nor are any of the other programs needed. Only use ISObuster for the first duplication of a game. Then, use the duplicated game disc to create other copies. It's quicker.

Thank you Direct9x. I have found the patchfile after I have unzipped it. I am also using -R DVDs. I did key the SLUS correctly and followed company name with Playstation. I did not get 2 errors after the CD/DVD record(i did click volume) it gave me one and then asked where i wanted to save the xml file. (I assume this is still correct.)
So I am going to try and patch the CD/DVD Rom Gen. When I double click that patch file. I guess I go to crack and click on?? the .exe Cd/DVD rom Gen program? I am not real familiar with a patch for programs.
Thank You for responding and helping me..

Gilakid,
Copy the patch file to the folder to which CD/DVD Gen was installed into. Then, run the patch from there.
I discovered that without the patch ran after installation, the .iml files that are created, are not fully created, only partially. Thus, if you have followed my steps, but did not patch the program after you first installed it, you burned duds every time. The patch only has to be ran once, then CD/DVD Gen will do 100 percent of the job required.

I am going to mod my ps2, and I am wondering how the solderless chip is connected.
I have soldered mod chips before (in my dreamcast), but would like to know how the solderless chips are connected or should I just go with a chip that you solder in place.
Thanks for any info.

Try this page for instructions on the no-solder modchip.
http://www.mod-chip.com/pdf/DMS4_EZI_Installation_v1.3.pdf
You have to make sure you get the correct chip for your version of the PS2. The instructions above are for the v5-v11 PS2 Consoles. I haven't seen one for the new slim-line types.

Thanks digital9x,
It definitely looks pretty simple.
I haven't checked yet, what version of PS2 I have, but I will before I get the chip.

You are trying to crack the downloaded file, and of course, that will not work. You have to "crack" the installed file that is found in the C:\Program Files\CD_DVD-ROM Generator 1.20. The icon for the file cdvdgen file is a CD with a pencil on it.
1. So, go back to the patch file, open it...
2. Click the three dots (...),
3. Locate the C:\Program Files\CD_DVD-ROM Generator 1.20 folder,
4. Then point to the cdvdgen file
That will do the trick for you.

Boorcove, is your ps2 even chiped or you using any other type of way to be able to play imported or backed up games? cause an unmodefied PS2 will not allow you to play anything but the original games you purchase from shops.

Alrighty. I have been through Digital9x process. I believe I did it right this time but the my PS2 didn't recognize it as a PS2 disc.
I got the .IMG file from teh DVD Decryptor(Splinter Cell Game). I use ISOBuster to extract the files into a seperate folder I have. I wrote the files down in the order I viewed them in ISOBuster. I dragged those files into the DVD ROm Gen(now patched) and clicked volume, typed in SLUS and its correct number and then Playstation as the producer name: clicked record; it prompted me to save the iml to a folder after that. i named it PANDORA.iml; i opened the IML2ISO program and selected pandora.iml and then told the program to rebuild my iml into my new iso file. I then used DVD Decryptor to burn the new iml file.
Am I missing some sort of specified settings in any of these programs that may not allow my game to work?
I read Digital9x's instructions and went on that only. So any settings that was not mentioned in those instructions I left as they were.
Is there a certain setting any one recommends on the DVD Decryptor? Should I use a different DVD Decryptor. I am using DVD-R and as Digital9x said before those are find. Maybe I should try a different program to burn the finalized game?
Any tips would be helpful...
I also appreciate Digital9x practically walking me through this process...
thanks again
