The above error displays after Shrink has finished shrinking files. The burn then fails. I have been able to then go to Nero Burning Rom and burn the files using DVD-Video format, but why is this error coming up? What do I need to do? Uninstall DVD-Fab Decrypter and DVD Shrink and Reinstall?

Thanks as always.

Hi, KraZvideo

Error:\nCannot connect TRF.
********************************************************************

This error has been associated with the latest version of nero6 version 6.6.1.4, this version will not function when used with DVDshrink for autoburning and there has been no fix as of yet. If you want to continue using shrink to autoburn with nero, then..

Write down your nero serial# and then uninstall version 6.6.1.4 from your system using the general cleantool found here:

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html

Next, download and install version 6.6.0.18 from the links provided, re-enter the serial# and you're good to go.

nero version 6.6.0.18 updates:
Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

If you want to keep version 6.6.1.4, then you'll need to burn manually.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

That makes sense, since I did upgrade the software before my last attempt.

I suppose I'll keep the lateste for now. I am getting a new computer Thrusday and will probably downgrade after that, but I'll keep your info on a hard copy until then and I'll follow your instructions.

I suppose when uding the DVD-video format with burning rom/manually it still delivers a good copy. I've attempted 2 so far and both played fine on my players.

Thanks again,

nice one John; what i think i'll do with this thread is tweak the thread title slighty and sticky it here in the Shrink forum as we have a similar one in the Nero forum here that seems to be helping ppl get around this problem - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/317495

and i'll add part of my reply from that thread here -

as if by magic, thread stickied..

enjoy. maybe Nero will see it and be shamed into fixing it :)

I just want to say thanks to John123 that was a very helpful FIX to the problem. I was having same issue as Krazvideo, I uninstalled Nero6 and reinstalled nero6.6.0.18 package 1 and 2. I would have just burned manually but like auto burn so much better as it is alot faster burn in auto. You are awesome thanks so very much. I hope you read this as you have helped out very much again THANKS

I find that when I'm in the middle of using DVD Shrink it just disappears/closes. No error messages.
I tried Nero and now it does the same thing.
Could there be a conflict with the different DVD burner applications I have on my PC or could it be something in WindowsXP?

I had similar problem and now changed Nero to older version as suggested in this thread. Still burn fails with the following log entries. I will be grateful for any suggestions.

Creaky one other thing I should report, my combination of DVD Shrink and Nero 6 was working fine for a month or so and it started having failed recordings, then I upgraded Nero 6 - My Nero 6 may also have been set for automatic updates so I cannot tell which version was working normal.

Going back to the suggested version has not solved it. I will try the firmware upgrade of DVD drive, and 8x recordings and report per your previous recommendation.

I was havig this problem as well and am now trying solutions in this thread. I just bought Nero 7 Ultra Edition. Is it pretty bad? My problem was with an update of version 6. If the solution posted here works, should I then upgrade to 7 to skip the bad 6 revision?

johnl123's fix worked! I had upgraded Nero 6 to a later version of 6 and could not get DVD Shrink to work. I did as he suggested in this thread and all is good. Still not sure if I should migrate to 7, but this fixed the 6 problem!

Same problem with the trf error after downloading the update to my Nero 6.6. ? to 6.6.1.4. The only reason I updated Nero was because it said there was a known compatability error with my 6.6.? and windows xp so going back to the old Nero may not be an option, but being it is I think the Nero burning rom and the Nero express that has the problem could I possibly just some how go back to the old version of just Nero recode. and one comment when shrink says phase ejecting the disc and you get the error when you close the error window you are told where the file is in your hard drive so all you have to do is open Nero recode and click copy dvd to dvd select your folder on your hdd where the movie is it copies fine. I'm no computer genius but I would think that what happens is shrink has a command line in the program that basically does what you do when you click on Nero and select recode etc. etc. maybe go to edit and change a selection or line in program(any programmers out there) thanks jp

just a second thought back in the windows 3.1 era when you turned on a computer they usually came up to the command prompt(msdos) you know c: and if you went to the auto exect.bat file you could change the path statement to have the computer come up to win 3.1 instead of C: I would assume this would still apply today but would have no idea how to get into shrink to do a similar thing

I used DVD Shrink to save to hard drive and shrank data too large to burn, typically by eliminating 2 channel stereo or such. Then I used DVD-CLONER II to burn with it automatically including menu, chapters, etc.. I bought a new burner with Nero-based software included and now I have the same problem of that when I'm in the middle of using DVD Shrink it just disappears/closes. No error messages. I contacted Nero and its reply is as follows:

"DVD Shrink accesses the NeroAPI directly, selecting the correct settings by itself. Solution: The project should be finished within the third party software, then be saved to the hard drive. Open Nero and select the correct compilation for this project. Then burn the files that were created by the third party software. This way Nero is able to select the settings for the burning process itself."

I don't understand the response and even if I did work it out, I don't want to/know how to burn and get menu, chapters and so forth by just using Nero. Can anyone help please?

Thanks, Sabrina

sabrina Not sure what Nero meant but i think they mean this(aparently Nero doesnt open automatically with the 6.6.1.4 upgrade but after shrink puts the files on the hard drive.) Then you open Nero recode 2 and select dvd to dvd if you select main movie to dvd all you get is the movie no menues or extras. When they say dvd to dvdv they mean the dvd movie on the hard drive to the blank dvd in your dvd drive. I didnt understand your response "I don't want to know/how to burn menues..etc. with just Nero."

Hi jspdvd and thank for your response to me. But I cannot use DVD Shrink because it just vanishes after I try to backup the disc. I am never able to get to the point where Shrink puts the files on the hard drive. If I where, I would just use my DVD-CLONER II to burn, as I usually do and not have to worry about dvd to dvd or main movie to dvd as with Nero. I can just burn from the hard drive files with DVD-CLONER II. I did see soemthing on a forum about a patch, but that didn't work for me. If anyone knows anything about that it would be appreciated. Thanks again jspdvd.

I just lost my computer but had the same problem with nero6 update and DVD Shrink. had to go back to 6.6.0.18 and all went well. however, yesterday I got a brand new computer and DVD Shrink would not burn with the qualitek burning software installed on the new gateway. bought Nero 7 and uninstalled the qualitek. DVD Shrink burned fine, but I am unable to burn slower than 6x. there is no lower option available. I always burned at 2x as I thought the quality would be better. am unable to find anything about why there is no option in DVD Shrink for 2x, 4x anymore. I assume Nero 7 controls the burn speed option. any way to get DVD Shrink to burn slower than 6x??
