You didn't burn it right check here: well you have all the right tools and its easy with DVD Decrypter. What type of media are using and what speed? Use a quality DVD-R Verbatim, Ritek, Taiyo Yuden. Short of that use Sony, TDK, or Maxell. Burn at 4x followning Hiredgoon's guide. Report back later.
Quick way to copy a game. Assuming you have the original game dvd and want to back it up.
step#1
open dvd decryptor then go to MODE>ISO>READ and then it will copy the game and make an iso file on your pc hdd.
Step#2
when that finishes go to MODE>ISO>WRITE and then select the iso file that decryptor just maade. It will burn the file to the dvd and presto you are done.
Simple as that. Thx Hiredgoon

Same old question, brand new PS2 owner and veteran PC user. I am trying to back up my two (so far) original PS2 games that come in the PS2 DVD-ROM format for my first project.
Seems like everyone (for some reason) recommends using DVD Decrypter (instead of the burning program of choice), making an ISO image to hard disk and then burning the ISO image to the (appropriate) disk.
Fine, easy to say and do. BUT, none of the programs mentioned so far (DVD Decrypter, Alcohol, CloneCD, GAme Jackal, Nero Express) seem to RECOGNISE the DVD-ROM game disk, so all further discussion is usless. I cannot extract the image, period! Judging from the amount of unreliable information and incomplete tutorials as well as untested packages for sale I have seen on the Web during the past two days, looks like it is a ripoff/dark area...
Equipment is new slim line flip-top PS2 on my network, Action Replay MAX EVO, and CDRW, DVD player in my PC (no DVD burner yet).
So, has everyone been making ISO images of DVD-ROM PS2 disks faultlessly? NONE of the programs mentioned can do an ISO copy to hard disk!

Is your laser dirty or scratched? Does it load your originals okay. If yes, then take a look at your original game and check it. This tends to be a burning issue. I'll spare you the burning tutorial as that is the whole point of this read. Some PS2 games need to be rebuilt (basically just have the dummy files take out and burned back to disk). Are you trying to back up a CD-ROM based PS2 game? For info on that check here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/236278 If it's a DVD-ROM based PS2 game than obviously you'd need a DVD burner to back it up.

hey everyone, im new here and have read the rules/searched around so i hope im not asking a common question or doing something wrong... alright, so i recently downloaded DDR Extreme. the files came in a rar. the files contained were a .BIN and .CUE. i used ISOBuster to open the BIN and take out the files. i used Nero 6 (DVD-ROM UDF/ISO) option to burn the game, as i have a few other times. so when the swap disk is done loading, i put in the game, and the PS2 reads it because it doesnt give me an the invalid ps2 disk error, but after it reads it, the screen just stays black... am i burning it wrong? or something..? all other games ive burned have worked. any tips you have are most appreciated. ill supply any more information if needed

kbl316 - yes, you either need a mod chip, or get the magic swap set. burned games will not work any other way

Hey Alien i read that you burn the mds file rather than the other one. I used DVD Decrypter no prbs and there are two files as there should be. One is an ISO file and the other an mds file. But the mds file is only 5kb and the ISO file is 3.1gb, are you sure that i should burn the mds file?

sparky666 Yeah the MDS file is smaller, but it has the info of the ISO file or something like that but yeah burn the MDS file. you know how when you burn a disc and you look on the back side of it you see the data line?? Yeah you will see it is mor than 5kb of data :)
So yeah the MDS file is what you burn :)

Actually that's not a bad question. When somones creates a backup and uploads the game as a the indivual components rather that the iso image itself how do you reconstruct the original iso image. I think I just answered my own question. Try burning all the files to DVD-R and creating an image from that with DVD Decrypter. http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html Then you would have have to burn it back to DVD-R using decrypter in write mode. Dunno this works for CD's, anyone know if it works for DVD's?

simple........they dont, its just that some people dont know how to use winrar properly, and dont realise that winrar is a poweful app, that can extract iso's,which is exactly what he has done, and its a common mistake
no-one uploads just the data files,
they always upload the iso
here is a winrar guide

So just to be clear, if you download a PS2 game and it's a series of files, it wasn't compressed properly? No one who uses winrar properly would upload anything other than iso (created from DVD decrypter) itself?

I am PCSX2 emulator with bin/bios.... and such. I also have an ISO file of a game (created from Dvd Decrypter). when I try to open the iso file on the emulator I get a black screen with reading on top left corner:
FPS 11.12 -- Frameskip on - FC: 17376
and the number keeps counting upwards. I left it alone for almost 1/2 hour and it just keeps counting up.
