You might consider getting a harddrive and using USBextreme, HDadvance, HDloader, or Mem card exploit Cogswap or something else. I have a SM3.6 and after a while it seems to have put strain on my laser and I have to adjust it just about everytime I want to play a backup. The advantage to HD is it doesn't use your laser to load a game. I'm also unsure which programs work with slimline. Keep searching AD you'll find your answer. When you search AD make sure you change the dates from 30 days to the longest time option. gl

As far as Swap Magic causing strain on your laser, more likely it's the type of media you're using. What media are you using? How old is your PS2? If you have a slim, the lasers tend to crap out rather quickly. If you're in LA and need a PSX or PS2 modded, check out teammodders.com. They've down work for a lot of people on this site and have an excellent track record. I'm sending them my PS2 to get chipped right after Hurricane Wilma blows over.

Yes you will need a way to boot the games, either a modchip or swap magic.
Only a couple mod chips can boot dual layer discs. I think :)
But most games are normal dvds, if they are dual layer you have to rebuild it to fit, EG, God of War, this needs to be rebuild to fit on a normal DVD-R.

I chipped my PS1, but decided that it would be easier to duplicate games with the PS2 if I just used the SM 3.6 boot discs. Most of game duplications just involve DVD Decrypter, rip and burning of the image. However, if the game is online capable, I used the ID Insertor program, patch with the hex code, inject the patched file, and burn the final image.

Hey I have a quick question.
I bought the Swap Magic 3.6 set and my CD-ROM swap disk is defective..
Is it possible for me to just burn the CD games onto DVDs and just play them using the DVD swap disk that works for me?
I've heard burning on DVD's may increase loading times and have other effects..
Thanks a lot in advance! :)

Hey here's another pointless post: I have a DVD burner and am downloading Dragon Quest VIII NTSC Jap right now. I bought some Maxell DVD-R's and will try to master the infinite complexity that is DVD Decrypter.
