if you want a good mod chip (instead of the flip top or swap magic)go to www.divineo.com and get the DMS4 EZI Lite or the DMS4 EZI Pro COMPLETE SOLDERLESS, Auto-detect and boot of all media types: DMS4 will automatically detect whether a PS1, PS2 CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD9 or DVD+RW (Homebrew Elf's), original domestic CD/DVD is inserted and then boot it without any interaction from the user.
thats what i have and it works great.just put the copy in and it boots up just like the original.

Yeah I'm getting my PS2 chipped with a DMS 4 Pro. Just waiting for Teammodders.com to get back to me with a price and shipping info. I can't wait, no more stupid disk swapping. The DMS 4 EZI Pro is supposed to have all the same features as the DMS 4 Pro and Lite solder chips. It's about $30 more, but if you have no soldering skills (like me) and a v.5-11 PS2 it's not a bad choice.

Can someone please tell me how to make a good PS2 backup on a mac. I already have a modchip and have tried copying games using Fast DVD Copy 4. After the Swap Magic disc boots up I put in my backup. It tells me that it is not a valid PS2 Disc. How do I make working PS2 discs on a mac?

Older PS2's (v.1-4) have trouble with DVD+R's. Newer ones seem (v.8 and later) seem to work better with DVD-R's. If you have the "chubby" PS2 check here to check version: http://www.chipzone.com/versions.cfm

Well first you need to make a backup of an original or download an iso file. Then you use DVD Decrypter to burn. You need a hardware mod, (modchip) http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2or a software mod like Swap Magic http://swapmagic3.com/ It just depends how much you want to spend. If you have the old "fat" PS2 you need a flip top or slide card with Swap Magic, with the slimline you need a slim tool, flip top, or ghost switch.

No free mods that I know of. Well a MC exploit is free, but you can't use it with the slimline. PAL is the video format for Europe, NTSC is for North America and Japan.

Hi everyone,
I am sure that you've seen question so many times but I just want to know what are the things I need to be able to play back up PS2 games.
I just bought a new slim PS2 today and from reading the forums,I can see that I can back up games by using DVD Decrypter or such programs, I also can tell that those games won't work unless you have certain things. All I want to know is,what are those things I need to buy if I don't want to install a chip on my PS2 or installing the chip the only way ?
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks

Well it depends how much you wanna spend. Swap Magic works very well and is affordable. I don't think there is a single game that won't boot with it after being rebuilt. Modchips are expensive, but the good ones like the Matrix Infinity and DMS 4 Pro will auto boot everything, no swapping involved. It depends how much you game and how much you're willing to spend. With installation a DMS 4 Pro will cost around $110. If you can solder it yourself, you can cut that in half. A Magic Duo2SE is a reliable low budget modchip that will cost $20 by itself and $55 or so after installation. Swap Magic with a flip top is around $35.

Yeah,I've read all this information you've given me on these boards but just a simple question ? How does the magic swap work ? Can you explain it a little bit if you have time ? Money is not too important, I can go either way but I am just trying to find out how does this magic swap work ?
Thanks
