crankyho you sound very similar to how I was, I was also blown away by the ps3 demonstartion at E3, it was an excellent presentation, definitly the best of the three. I was set on a ps3, but when I saw games like fight night and ecspecially gears of war on 360 I thought wow, maybe these consoles aren't so different in terms of power. There was a 100mb video of gears of war in game footage which I kept urging pple to look at, most didn't but thats a different story. When I saw that vid I was wowed.
So I reasoned that two gr8 consoles both very powerfull, both have great titles, except one console is coming out earlier, hell I will get a 360 and most likely now w8 for ps3 when it comes out and goes down in price.
anubis You don't need to buy the wireless adaptor, you can plug your 360 straight into the modem. With ps3 it already comes with wireless built in so you have to pay for it weather you like it or not. Plus 99 bucks for a wireless adaptor is the price you pay for a DECENT wireless adaptor for pc, surely you know this? Lastly you don't know if it will save you squat, it could all end up dearer, who knows, prices ain't set, plus by the time ps3 comes out ime sure m$ will be able to drop the price of their console making it even more likely that it will be cheaper.

yeah the wireless adapter is pointless, i think its not like you are gonna carry a 360 around on your back or start playing on live then suddenly you want to go to another room and play on your other HDTV.
wireless is fine for laptops etc but no point for anything that not easily moved.
Yeah you may have wireless live but, you dont have wireless power!

I completly agree. Those where my thoughts exactly. However I am slightly different as I am waiting for more info on the PS3 but after hear the PS3 team at IGN on thier podcast I can agree to much with whats said.
Chimpanel and Howjord both come up with good points i have been thinking about to.

Are we all forgetting that a lot of those classic games for the Rev are already available for the PSP and more they are in the palm of your hand on a screen that has better display quality than the average home tv does. Oh and they are free with no fee. Depending on how you are able to link the PSP with the upcoming PS3, those old school games and classic may not be as big a deal as we think. It will still drive some to buy the Rev though. Classics dont ever die. Been playing the Zelda series for NES and SNES on psp though i still have them on the original consoles. In the palm of my hand seems so much better and convenient while on the go.

my tv is a nice distance from the modem, and i dont wanna run a 50 ft cable around the house. sure you 'are' paying for it when u buy it, but it is cheap and wont drive up the price at all for it to matter. even my desktop pc ha wifi. do u plug in ur laptop every time for the net to the router? does your recent laptop not have built in wi-fi?
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Quote: haha they accually have lights to tell u its too hot? so they knew about this problem and they didnt use a better cooling system?
It tells you different status' overheating, stuff not connected etc.
If the PS3 DOESN'T let you know when it's overheating that will be a FLAW, because these systems generate so much heat.

not everbody has a wireless adapter including me, but i am getting one in a couple of weeks.
also what i like about the rev is that its not your usual console so its perfect in that way as you can buy either a ps3 or an xbox 360 ands have a rev on the side and the idea of having downladable games from all the nintendo consoles is awesome, i am pretty sure thast those games will be omline enabled, b/c they said the new super smash bros is going to be online.
basically what i a trying to say is that we can not compare it to the xbox 360 or ps3 b/c it is not like them at all.

Like howjord said laptops are different they are meant to be portable. Also a suggestion may be to buy another cheap broadband modem, plug it into a phone socket in your front room and voila.

basically its says that the DVD9 format for the xbox 360 may be albe to last the whole of this next generation without going onto 2 disk and it uses its info based on what happened on the last xbox. so it takes the games from the xbox release and compares them to the games of 2004 and sees how much of a difference inspace they took up, and results are, not much if that. basicaly although the games get better the game devs alls become more experienced therefore can use less space for more. also it says that just b/c a game does not take up sooo much space does not mean its not going to be good they use this as an example, doom 3 uses 3G less than terminator rise of the machines but you tell me which game is better.
for xbox 360 games to go over the 9G point they will have to increase 100% from where the release games are at the momment. and by going on what happened on xbox only a 3something% increase was there meaning that if that happened again that the xbox 360 games would only increase to about 3/4 of the DVD9 format. they said by ps3 having the bluray it just means that the game developers can be more sloppy with their work.

yes they make good points, but also gotta keep in mind this is the begining of the lives of 360 games, and the average is already half, and with an older increase reate of 56, they would all be puchish the edge. also, this is a next gen. more coding is needed for more fetures, for graphics, and for the multi threading. if you noticed, games for the ps1 began at 100 megs ish, and push to the edge with many, and even went into multiple disks. gams for the xbox and ps2 began around 700-1000 megs, and went all the way to half or more. they havnt factored in all the info. im not saying they are wrong, im just saying they could be making a mistake. the old xbox is a previos gen system. ps1 games were small and about 500 megs, and ps2 games got up to 5 gigs. remember this, i am only showing an opinion as to why they may too be wrong.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

56% of 5G means basically 2.5 which means that the xbox 360 at the end of say, ummm 2010 will be about that 7.5G size according to the last gen. so for the games to go over 9G they will need 100% increase from 5G inorder for it to double.

i hate syaing the same thing on 2 forums...
that is using and old xbox standard. the ps1 games averaged about 500 megs. ps2 games averaged about 4 gigs, thats an 8x increase.

I was bginning to worry about all this blu ray/disk space stuff. However, once again I think it's all going to be escalated rumours. If they are wrong, I am happy to work with two discs - giving them an extra 9 gig to play with.
All the problems with the 360, and people saying it's no competitor now worries me very little, infact not at all.
Mine's has NO technical problems.
The games are great and that's just a start. (Look at Gears of War video's if you attempt to argue this.)
Even if it was rushed, it works! and it works well!
MS have never (to my knowledge) released CG animation and try to pass it off as real time - they delivered what they where striving for.
I have one now!
Xbox Live is amazing - d/l games, demo's, music, maps etc and amazing online play.
The games are reasonably priced, only a £5 increase on the release of last gen games. (hopefully prices will drop).
It oozes personalisation and style.
Recording achievements in a points system makes games so much more playable.
I could go on and i'm not even a fanboy, as I want a PS3 and think that will deliver some next-gen amazements.
But dissing the 360 is idiotic, it is as close to perfect as is Britney Spears under the wheel of a Hummer.

i never said anything about four disks, kookoo brought that up. i said 2-3, and three will be a bit rarer. but again, bringing those disk every would suck. they take up so much space after a few games. my disk holder would be full 2ce as fast and if i lose one disk or one breaks, the other will load but can do nothing, which will be depressing.

Technically, if you have a save on disc 2 you could break a disc and still have half a game! bonus.

but what if the game goes to the end and is done? or its like ff where when u last save there
is nothin but the last boss? would that not get boring? plus, only half the levels or less if they
dont use alot of the 2nd dvd at first. factor that in.
id rather be completely lost of a game then have 2 levels or a boss left, it would be
depressing seeing the 1 lone disk and u cant do anything. plus what if u didnt get that far?

dude did you not read it they said xbox 360 games even at the end of the next gen will struggleto reach one disk as game developers will undertand the xbox 360 more and therefor beable to use less space for more game.

"these systems generate so much heat." - In reference to this staement made almost a page ago, we cannot determine if "these" systems all suffer the same heat ordeal Xbox 360 does, because they are not out yet. But it is well to note that Microsoft is currently battling lawsuits again computer engineers and company insiders/employees who have said that the Xbox 360 suffers from an extremly critical thermal managment design flaw that was noted by the team to Microsoft. Microsoft ignored the analysis and released th eprodct for crishtmas 2005 regardless. For a powersupply and wattage specs of their elatively low size compared to some high end computers and servers, the Xbox 360 does generate significantly excessive heat. This artice is pulled off of many sites by Microsofts PR department, but you can pray etremetech still has it. It is not to be ignored that MS is currently under investigation for this.
The site you provided danielmid, has no references, charts, or description of how this information was aatianed, or more, why we should assertain it ourselves. The very fact that I have tried extensively to find a program or script that can comune with the custom Xbox 360 filesystem to find out exactly how much sapce is data and how much is fake burn in, makes me wonder why ad how they were able to do it themselves.
This site, which i will note has not existed since 1995 according to domain certficates, is contradicting the X05 gaming show interviews with game developers that clearly stated that designs of Xbxo 360 games wre trimmed to fit on the disk, one disk. It is a logical idea to place more trust in GameInformer Magazine than this no name site, and no name author.
We have to all remeber how much propaganda and lies from all three camps there is out on the internet. It is usually best to allow an official magazine with juornalistic credit to filter the information for us. Personally, just looking at the games and understanding the sheer polygon count, detail, size, lead me to put my faith in Gameinformer and not a strange and never heard of before internet site.
Fanboy is a term used to describe someone who is utterly devoted to a single subject. This generally is followed by the devotion and support even when proved wrong.
Anecdotal, by my definition, it's the way too many people here think. It's also all the evidence you have.
Xbox 360 GT: NEGATIVE 273K
My advice: Wait for PS3.

Reasons
I agree with what you say and see where your coming from.
I can see how and if Microsoft ignored the heating problem inorder to release the console in time for christmas. However inorder for this issue to be resolved I think both the PS3 and Xbox 360 have to be water cooled. If PS3 has two fans as well then it could suffer the same problems being a high performance console like the 360.
When it comes to disc space I can see how you would consider that website you talk about as more correct and the fact that the first batch of games are cut down to put on one disc. I also remember reading this.
However I believe this now as not true. The biggest reason is because of Elda Scrols oblivion. This is a 16 mile radiuos RPG with loads of audio and very high quality graphics, yet it fits onto one disc so I find the later website to be more correct. Therefore you will not a get a 360 game taking up more than 2 disc's.
