No prob. I'm wrong like anybody else at times, but I try not to reply with pointless nonsense. So I take it Uzy and Tater are the same person? Yeah MODE-->ISO-->WRITE should work. Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R. That seems to work for %95 of PS2 games.

I don't know about Gangsta, last time I checked I was white, and a long way from Compton. Well if you're interested in modchips, I recommend the DMS 4 Pro or the Matrix Infinity. They auto boot everything and work great. Of course that functionality comes at a price, around $100-$110 with the chip and installation. Here's some general modchip info: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 The Duo2SE is a cheap chip that's reliable. If you want to swap discs then you can go with Swap Magic, a very reliable software mod alternative: http://swapmagic3.com/ With the fat PS2 you need to use it with a slide card: http://www.saveware.com/SlideCardUsageAndInstall.htm or flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop/page1.cfm With the slim PS2, you need a magic key: http://magickeys.net/ or flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop-v12/pag... You can also compile MC exploit: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 or use an HD loader: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id4.html#hd%20loader That's it as far as I know. If you want to play backups and not spend a lot, go with Swap Magic. You may need to rebuild games over 4.38GB's, and it doesn't work with DVD-9 or dual layer games. You can shrink those down to DVD-5 or single layer. As far as I know, every game works with Swap Magic after rebuilding, and only a handful of games need rebuilt. Phew!

You can find Madden on any bittorrent site. You need the flip top or slide card with Swap Magic. Yes they are mandatory, you can't just put a backup in your PS2 and play it, without some way of booting it. To burn PS2 games use DVD Decrypter: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R. Use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Maxell, Sony, TDK, or Phillips DVD-R's. Playing EA backup games online is impossible at present, I believe. Socom 2 and 3 backups are also impossible to play online. Aside from that you patch a backup's DNA's for online play using Winimage or WinDIP. Yes you need a chip, Swap Magic, MC exploit, or HD loader to play backups.

I went to go read about what a swap magic is...do you have to take your playstation system apart to use this device to play copied PS2 games?..I'm really new to this and trying to understand. I dont want to buy something without knowning what I really need to do.
Thanks

Hey thanks for starting this thread. It's a great place to start if you're new to the whole PS2 DVD burning thing. It's definitely where I got my start.

Thanks to everyone for the great info, I have one question, I keep getting a read error for Madden 06 when ever I try to decrypt it. Do I need a different copy or is there something else I can do?

Is the disc scratched or dirty? Set the read speed to 1x. It's slow, but that's the way to go.

OK guys, I'm a newbie to the PS2 scene. I've got a softmodded XBOX and I can do everything I need to with it. But here's my question. Can you burn an .iso of SwapMagic (using the slowest speeds possible of course.) and have the PS2 recognize it? Or is the only way to go either putting a mod chip in or buying a retail swap disc?
