I dont think there will be any difference in graphics. The reason I will get the PS3 over the 360 is Blu-ray and the fact that Sony is more popular with more people will buy it, meaning more games.
my local video store has got Xbox360 games and they are always in (meaning they dont rent well).

With supply issues at first and terrible policies at gamestores its not a shock to see games not being rented. Also they have gamefly which alot of people use to rent games. My blockbuster requires a NEW credit card and a one time dollar charge so if you dont return it they can charge u full price on your credit card. All points to way too much hastle

4 points against the PS3..High Price..Blu Ray Disks (untried technology) Bad build quality reputation of the PS2..and the 360 has a year lead in the market... I don't really care and I actually think threads like this should be closed as they are just pointless...you can't buy a ps3 yet so what's the point of going on about how great it is...You don't have one..so that point is a blatant untruth...you can't say how well it works, or how great the games are, or how responsive the controls are because you don't have one!!! So what in all honesty is the point of all the BS????

' ' i am not saying that ps3 is not good, but its not something new to gaming that xbox 360 does not hvae, although the features it has are great, but when the average joe asks if these features will help the game and the shop assistant says no then what do you think they will do.
' '
average joe - so yeah i heard one of this babys plays high def. movies right out of the box,im planning in geeting a high def. player but i also love to play madden during the summer or winter.
shop assisting - oh yeah its the ps3.
average joe - oh kool and who much is it.
shop assisting - its 599$ and if you are planning in buying a high def. player its 1000$ alone.
average joe - SOLD !
shop asssing - did i mention it plays ps2 and psx games ,musik cd and dvd's ?
its like buying a psx,ps2 and Blu-ray player,a cd player and a dvd player all for 599$ eh ! best deal ever. so you are ready to go when buy God Of War 2 for ps2 and ps3(its not for ps3 but the ps3 also plays it hehe). Q1 2k7.

the loading times will be different considering
"According to the Blu-ray Disc specification, 1x speed is defined as 36Mbps. However, as BD-ROM movies will require a 54Mbps data transfer rate the minimum speed we're expecting to see is 2x (72Mbps). Blu-ray also has the potential for much higher speeds, as a result of the larger numerical aperture (NA) adopted by Blu-ray Disc. The large NA value effectively means that Blu-ray will require less recording power and lower disc rotation speed than DVD and HD-DVD to achieve the same data transfer rate. While the media itself limited the recording speed in the past, the only limiting factor for Blu-ray is the capacity of the hardware. If we assume a maximum disc rotation speed of 10,000 RPM, then 12x at the outer diameter should be possible (about 400Mbps). This is why the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) already has plans to raise the speed to 8x (288Mbps) or more in the future."

Yeh i know i thought that the specs side or tech type stuff would be a little more cut and dry.Ive read tons of articles saying Blu-ray is extraneous and not needed at the time. Then i hear people on here saying it helps wtih graphics, loading times, and the works. ITs a tough choice to make,to me its all about price and quality i felt that MS gave me a better deal but im seen as a MS fanboy because i feel sony rips its customers off with false promises time after time.Just base it off games,if you like sony games get the ps3,like the MS games then pick up a 360.ONly good thing about getting a 360 is they are in stock now so it wont be a dogfight like it will for the ps3

I think iv said this b4 but ppl who are getting the PS3 are the kind of ppl (Me) that want more out of a console than just games. I hella want the PS3 cuz it has hella entertainment options. And price does not matter cuz most ppl who are after the best form of entertainment probably have HD TVs and Sound systems and stuff like that and probably spent hella for it. I know i did for mine.
SO ppl who just wanna play games might just get the 360. Little kids will get the Wii for christmas or Bday. And ppl who will get the PS3 will probably already have a crap load of Sony stuff already. I dont think ppl will get all 3 like they claim. Well at least not right away. Maybe like 3 or 4 years down the road. Since most games are multi console anyways.
But just like every other console, its first year does not determine its sucess. Theres only been like 2 good games for the 360 so far but some sick ones are on their way. Thats why i hate when ppl say PSP sucks cuz theres a few good games when its been out berly over a year.
PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

i agree with you about 90%.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

i do believe the first year determins the average idea of where a console will be going. such as at a year people will know if they like it or not and the sway that occurs determins the rest until somne fancy innovation to save it.
(kinda just came up with that..but it works)

It should be interesting to see just how good the graphics can be once the software makers are able to catch up with the hardware and take full advatage of it,just like the early games for last gen consoles ,when you compare the first years releases compared to latest releases for same consoles the graphics are bloom'n brilliant,as for purchasing either new consoles that'll be around 3 years away when with any luck they'll be a whole heap cheaper plus i'll need a new tv
As for comparing the hardware of both when it gets down to the nitty gritty both are more or less even

Jase_ace - it dpends on you. if you want an entertainment system with great rpg's then go for ps3, if you want something cheap but really fun for when your friends come round get the wii, but if you want something which is at a medium price, and is mainly for shooters, and is purely for gaimg then get the xbox 360.
personally i think all three are great and all have their own advantages, so i think you should get all three, but if you do not have the money then decide from the crap desciption i gave above what type of gamer you are.

anubis you can not say that until you use it, and i am not trying to bash the ps3, but so far i have seen some great games, but the only shooter that can come close to games like halo 3, gears of war, shadow run, chromehounds, lost plannet, too human, dead rising and prey etc, etc and that game is resistance on the ps3.
and as for rpg, well ps3 has always has a great line up in that department, and i am sure they will have nothing less now, but xbox 360 has some good ones too, like mass effetc, blue dragon, ninty nine nights, bioshock, lost oddessy, enchanted arms, fable 2, Square Enix / Tri-Ace RPG, Phantasy Star Universe and a few others.

I hope phantasy star has a lot of players, I had it for Dc first, and then for GC (mainly for the exploit, but still) and there weren't all that many people that i expected to be on.

Yes, it is better. You know this because you own both systems and have experienced first hand what each console has to offer.
Even though the ps3 hasn't even been released yet.
