Halo is a great game, but I wouldn't be so bold as to call it the best game ever.

" wow does anyone else see the ignorance in the posts of 'poisson de le merde'"
haha, i anubis i have heard much worse cme from you. maybe not now, but a few mounths ago your were really angry as if xbox 360 nad somehow stolen all your money and was worse then the ps2 in graphics.
"yeah by far ps3 will be a superior system and the best system ever created with the best games.
halo is overated anybody over 10 years old knows that."
that is a lot worse than anything i have heard poisson say considering you are a memeber and he is only a newbie and has not had the chances you have had to hear both sides of the story from ps3 fans and xbox 360 fans.
"halo 3 is the most overrated game of our time. sure its fun once thru but its replay value
blows. its all "cross bridge, kill the covenant on it, cross identical bridge, kill covenant on
it. repeat steps 3 and 4 x8 times."
when people play halo they expect a game to have loads of extras, like gadgets and other shit like in ghost recon or mgs, well it was not made for that, halo was made for absolute fun in mind (like tetris, simple but extremely fun) simple controls and some good weapons have resulted in halo and halo 2 becoming massive games, halo for the single player and halo 2 for the online experience, whcih i personally loved, not b/c i played it once a week and thought ahh its crap, but b/c i played it all the time, got really good at it and just had fun. i mean when i got conker live and reloaded, i hated it so much, but i though i might aswell play it a little before returning it, then fell in love with it, hehe. its about seeing the game for what it is not what other people say it is, or b/c its on a certain console or b/c the story line is crap. its about the gaming.

Quote: and if halo is so great why did the xbox only sell 20 mil and the ps2 sold 100 mil?
Well to answer that ps2 was out for about 2-3 years longer and on top of that NIETHER halo or metal gear solid were the only reason either consoles sold at all.Not to say that xbox would have caught up with ps2 in sales if it was out the same amount of time but just stating a fact that it wouild have been closer seeing how xbxo was a better made product and sony wouldnt had have as much loyality as it built up with MS being the new kid on the block.Yes Halo put xbox on the map and gave ms their big exclusive but NO one game sells consoles to the extent your speaking of.

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

the ps2 released on Mar. 4, 2000. the xbox release on Nov. 15, 2001. thats only about a year and a half. if in 6 years made ps3 102 mil, and in 4.5 years the xbox made 22 mil, and the xbox had 3/4 the time on the market, that it should have sold 76.5 mil.

The ps2 sold more than the gamecube and xbox because it had a larger and more impressive gaming library.

they said it conflicted with the gyroscopes ability to percieve movement. immersion, the company that owns the dual shocks patent, says its possible and is willing to work with sony to make it completely functional.

Didn't sony just lose a lawsuit that concerned the rumble feature as well?

Yeah, they used the motion sensing to cover up the fact they stole the 'dual shock' patent without permission..

because as has been said before, ps2 was a piece of crap, at one point I owned 6 of them in a transition of trying to find one that didn't have massive disc read problems, had to sell a lot of broken ones for parts on ebay to recover some cost, but since ps2 had a lot of games i owned, i couldn't just walk away. My xbox is still kicking fine and i bought it used 2 years ago, not a problem yet except I had to fix the power supply, which was really easy. I really believe that most people with a ps2 have or have had more than 1 of them b/c of some kind of problem that the first one they bought had. Infact, it is almost uncommon to find a Ps2 that didn't have DRE's. Sony's quality control is crap and that proves it. Make a crappy console with lots of good games people will buy and you are sure to have high sales due to repeat buyers since you won't honor your warranty. I hate sony. end.
I cover my bases...
1)Xbox w/xecuter 2.6 solderless
2)Ps2 (slim) w/DMS4 Lite
3)Ps2 V7 w/DMS4 Lite and 200 Gig Maxtor HDD
4)GC w/qoob pro

SIX? I find that hard to believe. Rather than sell for spares, why not get them repaired?

Also, something else I just thought of, I bought xbox last of them all and that is because I always viewed it as something of a "hard core" gamer system, mostly because of live and the fact that I thought you HAD to have that and I have never wanted to use live so it wasn't appealing at the time. Ps2 appealed to a broader range of people (similar to how the Wii will this time around) and for what it was it was ok (minus the annoying DREs), plus xbox didn't get REALLY good til like 04' in my opinion which is why i didn't buy it til then. that was the year of some of its best games, such as halo 2, ninja gaiden, and san andreas (which looks a lot nicer on the xbox than on the ps2).
And although I hate on sony, i'm not saying the ps2 wasn't good, it was just sony was bad for not honoring the warranty on the defective dvd drives. If its happened to anyone else you know what I'm talking about.

truth be told I had a lot because I was looking for a specific version to work with my DMS 4, but when I found one it gave me DREs after a short while, and it was a v9. This was with originals and anything else. The best one I've found is the V7, I've never had a problem with it and haven't heard otherwise from others. The slim one is working pretty good too right now. I just had a few bad ones in the middle. (note, no problems were due to any soldering or modifications to the ps2s they did this when i got them)
As for repairing, you know its like $80 for sony to repair a console, and then u have to deal with shipping and crap, u can get them on ebay for less than that so I was like screw it.

2)Ps2 (slim) w/DMS4 Lite
3)Ps2 V7 w/DMS4 Lite and 200 Gig Maxtor HDD

@ pressed so wat your saying is the reason sony sold more is not for the library of games and earlier for the totally free dvd player, but because every one bought 6 due to problems?

ps2 has good games, yes. i doubt everyone had as many as I did, but I know more than 3 people, which i think can be considered pretty bad in this case, that have had to buy another ps2 based on a problem with theirs, usually was DRE.

i know exaclty what your talking about i went through 3 playstations and sony were complete a$$holes the entire time. They had me send my ps2 out and pay the shipping charge then sent it back and said they wouldnt honor fixing it and they were sorry for the confusion.Sony has the absolute worst customer service know to man and even worse is the fact that people put up with it.I for one will NEVER purchase a sony console again, saying that im sure the ps3 will be great but im not taking chances. When i had a probelm with my xbox 360 MS handled it in an amazingly quick fashion and i was back to playing with no future problems to this day.Thats what it comes down to ...i paid $200 less for my 360 than i would if i were to wait a full year and get the ps3 and i have a system that is equal to or better than what sony is offering with an undenaibly fact of knowing that i will have better service from MS.ps3 made end up being better than the 360 but nto to the extent of waiting a full year and paying $200 more for the system and who knows how much more for games.

Dvd players were NOT expensive when ps2 came out, I think I got mine back then for like $130, and that is better than $300 for a system I didn't even want until 2002. And I am not too fond of Ps2 as a dvd player its not even Progressive scan, the screen goes dark then light and dark then light constantly. The controller is really bad as a fast forward funtion as it is incredibly slow and i hate having to put in the stupid password when I want to use it. I truthfully never used my ps2 for dvd's just for games.

Yeah, people are forgetting that you pay over £100 a year for the service that's provided when it comes to other electronics e.g. TV. The extended warranty is VERY worth it.
