Quote: read between the lines on this one and after hearing that he didn't care too much for the ps2, i think this boils down to 3rd party tools and support. he's a PIONEER dev, granted he is co-founder, but no matter who you talk to they all seem to say the ps2 and now ps3 are harder to develop for than both the xbox and 360. there was much criticism about the xbox being just a ported system of pc games in its early going, so i think its understandable for someone like him to say that. m$ has a very good rep when it comes to delivering tools and support for their developers and i think maybe the ps2/ps3 are a bit out of his league. well probably not, but programmers are extremely lazy and i think this one is entitled to his opinion, but not every dev is meant to make ps3 games. sony can't hold every dev's hand and spoon feed them when it comes to making games. im sure he'll enjoy making xbox or pc games. unfortunately im too lazy to look him or the company up to see what exactly they have made that would make this seem like something bad for the ps3...
ID Software are the guys who invented Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, etc... pretty much the first fps's, I'd hardly call them lazy programmers...

i never said ID programmers were lazy, but programmers in general are lazy ;)
as i said before, he is basically complaining about tools and support that for him don't add up to the competitor, or atleast not to his liking. raven's port quake 4 for the 360 wasn't anything spectacular, so it really doesn't seem like this is terrible news. i really don't think being a ps3 owner im missing out on anything. GearsOfWar, now that would be a different story....i don't think this is the first time we've heard anything like this before from a developer?s standpoint. sony is pretty notorious for delivering sub par tools and support. the guy might just not like the idea of having to relearn or reinvest how to do things they have already perfected, but then again they are computer scientists and engineers, not monkeys. sony took a different approach with the ps3's architecture and im sure with a little effort they?d be successful.
edit: saints row is coming to the ps3

Great point HADE to make a long story short some dev want the eazy way out.Tell me how you would feel if your going to buy a game(which i know this has happen to some of you)That you been foaming at the mouth for months then when you get the game it like a big let down. This is what some dev's want easy money but have things there way.
Microsoft: Ps3 cant do 60fps on 1080p. Guess what they were WRONG!!!!!
(11/19/05 - 9/19/06) Microsoft: Sony's 1080p support on PS3 is all Hype and Not Needed.
(9/20/06) Microsoft: Xbox 360 to add 1080p support.

Well, speaking as a software engineer, it's usually not about coders (or anyone) being "lazy". Programmers have bosses, who have bosses, who have bosses, and these people impose time constraints, because while the game or software or whatever is being developed, the company is steadily losing money paying all of these people. Having better tools and support can mean the difference in a problem taking a day to solve instead of a week to solve, and the faster they can solve problems and move along, the more they can pack into a game and make it less buggy.

And by not "finishing" a game they lose more money because the game dose not sale well, and then we have games that are released early and poorly supported like Q4,its like Quake wars is coming lets "move on".
frankly if you can't finish a game then at least finish it by patching it of coarse once the game is done the team gets broken up and put to work on other projects ,talk about lose lose no wonder games been taking a hit in quality lately...

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

The Blu-ray Disc Association gathered its heavyweights for a press conference on Monday afternoon, including the heads of movie studios such as Paramount, Fox and Sony, saying that if anything will win the format war, it?s content. And Blu-ray has it.
Andy Parsons, senior vice president at Pioneer and the promotion chair for the Blu-ray Disc Association, laid out three key reasons why the group thinks Blu-ray will defeat HD DVD: content, hardware and the PlayStation 3.
As of Christmas week, according to numbers announced at the press conference, weekly sales of Blu-ray discs are outpacing HD DVD movies. Content is key to that equation, the group says. "This is what really defines a format," said Parsons. "This is the face of Blu-ray."
Parsons displayed a list of the top 20 DVD sold in 2006, 19 of which are in the Blu-ray camp. Only 4 are in HD DVD's, and only one -- King Kong -- is exclusive.
The second reason -- hardware -- focused on the number of CE manufacturers who, in addition to having Blu-ray players, also manufacture high-definition televisions. "There is a very close association of brand of HDTV monitor and Blu-ray player in our view," said Parsons, noting that the manufacturers are all competitors but all in the Blu-ray camp.
The third reason (and one that I've been arguing for a long time) is the PlayStation 3 (PS3), which includes a built-in Blu-ray player. The group released new survey results showing that 80 percent of PS3 owners plan to purchase Blu-ray movies to watch on their system, and more than 75 percent plan to use their PS3 as their primary device for watching movies.
"We believe Blu-ray disc has what it takes to win the format war," said Parsons. "Consumers are going to have the final word here, and the word is Blu-ray disc."
Executives from Fox, Lionsgate, Paramount, Buena Vista, Warner and Sony announced many of the titles that will be unveiled on Blu-ray disc this year, including Casino Royale, The Departed, The Silence of the Lambs, Harry Potter and the Matrix trilogy. Many of the Blu-ray titles announced by Warner -- a supporter of both formats and developer of Total HD -- are also planned for HD DVD.
Multiple panelists said that they expect the format war to be over sooner rather than later. "We expect 2007 to be the year in which Blu-ray establishes itself as the [format] of the future," said Steve Beeks, president of Lionsgate. "I really think the format war is at its final phase," said president of Fox Home Entertainment Mike Dunn.
David Bishop, president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, talked about the importance of bundling Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby with the PS3, saying that 82 percent of survey respondents said they will purchase more Blu-ray movies than they originally thought. "That on-pack bundle was a huge success for us," he said.
"We think that Blu-ray will exercise its content advantage," Parsons said. "Once consumers see that content is available and players are the gateway to that content, Blu-ray players will become much more successful."
While the HD DVD camp has touted the use of the VC-1 video codec from Microsoft, Parsons said that it doesn't matter much to consumers. "Mainstream consumers are much more concerned about content as opposed to a [codec]," he said. Blu-ray and HD DVD both support VC-1, and while VC-1 is nearly unanimously used in HD DVD, most Blu-ray discs use MPEG-2 compression.
When asked about the introduction of LG's Super Multi Blue player into the market, Parsons quipped, "We welcome another Blu-ray disc player entering the market."

The Departed is great, definitely one of the best film in 2006, though I enjoyed the original Hong Kong version aka Infernal Affairs better. Silence of The Lambs and Matrix trilogy looks good to me.
By the way, anyone know who made Goodfellas and The Godfather series? Because I definitely want those on Blu-ray for sure.

Sounds good cause Goodfellas is a great film. I would love to have The Godfather (all series) on Blu-ray because it's one of the greatest classic from Francis Ford Coppola. The Godfather is from "Paramount", another great classic is SCARFACE (my all time favorite) from "Universal".

Holy... Paramount, yes.. I totally forgot all about this. So definitely The Godfather is on Blu-ray for sure. Now I'm wondering what about "Universal"? Cause SCARFACE was made by "Universal"?

Here are 7 of the major studios in Hollywood http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/studios.php which supported Blu-ray disc, only "Universal" that fully supported HD-DVD. However, both "Paramount" and "Warner Bros." supported both formats (Blu-ray and HD-DVD).
Damn... I'm out of luck for Scarface for now. Oh well, I guess I'm good with the DVD (and its backup) anyways.

I don't think we going to see Scarface on any HD-format for a while .They just released Scarface Platinum edition like 4 or 5 months ago.It had a digitally remastered picture plus dolby digital & DTS 5.1 audio. But its one of my all time greats.I'm waiting for Heat which is made from Warner bros.Im a Michael Mann nut.But to see he is making Transformers is going to be crazy.

Yes, HEAT is one of my all time favorite beside The Godfather, Goodfellas and Scarface. Robert DiNero, Al Pacino and Val Kilmer, all of them delivered great performances in Heat.
Oh yeah, TRANSFORMERS is a must see for me. I saw the trailer and I highly anticipated for it -- actually I was blown away by the trailer and all those CG effects.

People said the same thing about Hulk when they seen the trailer. The trailer looked awfully.Ang Lee improved that movie so much since they released the trailers like 6 months until the movie was released.Ang Lee had heard about all the negative feed back the trailer got.

Lets see,how to say this.......Hulk makes every bad comic movie look good even cat woman is better,of coarse if you turn the sound off and dont have a clue as to what Hulks story is about you could watch ti becuse it looks nice, but the story is so messed with it suxs,Xmen is not great but hell even its better than the BS they tried in Hulk....
Hellboy is 100000X better than Hulk.,of coarse Hellboy is my current fav Comic movie, with Blade and Hulk as most loathed.
The more they try and take the fiction out of tis own world the more they destroy it,I cant wait for Ghost rider it seems to be another half arsed comic flix......

Yeah, I know how you felt about the new Transformers trailer. At first, my expectation wasn't high, but after watching it a few more times, I thought, hmmm... this looks interesting on the big screen. Afterall, Michael Mann is a great director, so we'll just wait and see how it goes when it's released.

ZippyDSM Your like my friend he is a comic junkie so you guys are not going to like these comic on the big screen because they never follow the story that just take out the story what they want. But you got to look at it not being a comic book.By the way Hellboy to me was okay i thought the story drag a little bit.But when does part two come out?

LOL, why not? Every little things count -- and this isn't quite off topic, it's dedifnitely still on track (i.e. MS = XBOX 360 = HD-DVD vs SONY = PS3 = Blu-ray).

I know we're all entitled to our judgment and preferences, but I thought HULK is a great movie. I can't say it's the greatest comic ever made, but I sure enjoyed HULK more than Hellboy and Cat Woman in my humble opinion. Again, maybe it's only me.

Are you serious Blade 1,2 was the best most movie gross(comic) on the big screen to date except only X-men & Spiderman did more. Now part 3 sux like hell. But Hellboy to me was missing something i just can't put my finger on.Its started out good but the end was a major let down.
