Okay that is not the point though it trys to look better (Blu-ray) but it dosent. But the fact it can hold more information is thepoint. I dont own any Blu-ray movies because there is no difference in vision. So Id rather have a cheaper dvd that cost less and does the same. But for games I think Blu-ray is better because of how much it holds. I think when someone says "ps3 because it has that Blu-ray crap". Thats just a reason for 360 fans to think ps3 sucks, and most of them probably dont even know wht Blu-ray is....

Not to mention no real gain in loading times but then these are first gen games,I'll the system a year but even still the price is stupid the games are no worse than normal 50-60 a pop,I can easily see the PS3 being good in 4+ years but till then it blows.

I wouldnt say Blu-ray is crap but there should have only been one either HD-DVD or Blu-ray why?
Because now we will have to buy both players because some companioes like 20th century Fox support HD-DVD while companies like Walt Disney Support Blu-ray whihc means one will be relasing the movie on this format while teh other on the other which I think sucks sayign that you have a Blu-ray player and it will play all movies is wrong its gonna be like 50/50 50% HD-DVD and 50% Blu-ray but I think HD-DVD could pull out in front as in the past media's that the Sony group all the comapnies with them Samsung etc that support that format the Media has always gone crap like with those Discs in the 80's the optical ones like records but not and those VCR tapes the smaller ones then normal Tapes they have all gone sour and have all been supported by the group that supports but when all them came toghter in the 90's they sucvcesfully made a format which in was relased in 1996 that wen to become like the most succesfull format ever made besides VHS they were DVD's,
I think thats what they should have done this time.

Blu-ray isn't crap.
But it also isn't the saving grace of games, either, as many people claim it to be. People say how crippled the 360 games are going to be because the storage capicity of a dvd 9, and then in turn come to the conclusion that the quality of the games will suffer.

look at +/- it was the same 2 competing formats HD and BR are like that and they are also fighting for who gets hollywood so even more silliness is in play, the short of it is both formats suck because both are to costly but it seems the war is getting dirty price cuts and combo drives looks like we might have a victory near the end of the eyar ,but I dout it.

First looking at it the PS3 has a advantage over the 360 and in some ways it still does but when you boil everythign down the main difference will be the 360 will have games on acouple discs.
the question I have that has yet to be answered is would Oblivion load faster on the PS3 from reasaerch I have done it seems only sightly.
all in all there is little diffrance in the PS3 and 360 the price is almsot the same once you add everything up (even tho its cheaper to use a core and mem card) the games have the same over all lack of polish and detail in game play, MS and Sony are 2 sides of the same media happy coin,I do see SOnys side shining more since they will have the games but it still seems like it will be a hollow shine...

hey look the last thing anyone wants is a duel format soceity with no real winner then that just SUCKS for everyone. trust me dont nobody want to go there.
cool BD can hold 25 or 50 or 100GB per disc but right now a game is more than 7GB? No. so BD in gaming terms right now is just a expensive form of DRM, that would get beaten by rip images on HD instead of direct burn .
i have a 360 but im no fan boy. I think sony's play station lines of consoles has been great, but VERY Bad move intermixing risky next gen disc formats with gaming... bad move. lets hope ps3 Doesnt do down because of Blu-ray!
o btw Samsung BD player only $800 now! wow! now every common folk can go grab this junk!

Be warned of the PS3 movie setup a import system wont play EU/Pal regioned movies unless its a PAL PS3,they cocked up and made movie setup annoying dividing it by PAL and NTSC regions so a PAL system only works with PAL movies, games are supposed to be region free but still bear region flags.....

I wouldn?t say the price of the ps3 is too bad because when you think of everything that?s actually a deal like the Blu-ray player and other stuff. Sony is actually loosing money for each consol they sell but they make money off of the games. It just seems too much to pay because people aren?t used to paying that much for a system, which is still a lot of money.

I still dont see the big deal about the price, where i live theres very little difference in the PS3 launch price compared to the PS2's launch price ages ago. The 360 is a fair bit cheaper though.

Compression can only go so far, and with compression comes lag and slow loading and more work for the system to do. BlueDragon for 360 is meant to already be at 3 DVD-DL's thats around 15-18gb the same as several launch PS3 games.

That couldn't be so wrong that is not true.
Resistance: Fall Of Man = 17.53GB (18,827,837,440 bytes)
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom = 8.27GB (8,880,652,288 bytes)
Need For Speed Carbon = 11.5GB (12,431,458,304 bytes)
NHL 2K7 = 8.4GB (8,443,592,704 bytes)

Team Ninja chief Tomonobu Itagaki has expressed concerns over the lack of storage space on the Xbox 360's DVD media.
Speaking to Japanese magazine, Famitsu, Itagaki has expressed concerns over the limited capacity DVD offers in the era of High Definition. He feels developers will struggle to fit High Definition pre-rendered sequences onto the 9GB format, being particularly problematic for Japanese developers who prefer to use pre-rendered over real time cut scenes.
"The screen resolution for Xbox 360 games will be in high definition, so the pre-rendered movies are going to be pretty large," said Itagaki. "If we encoded the Dead or Alive 4 trailer from E3 in high definition in a quality acceptable to us, it will easily be about 2GB." This would leave around 7BG for game data, but for games relying on pre-rendered scenes to tell and develop the story, multiple DVDs may be required. Itagaki added how shocked he and his team were when they were told the Xbox 360 would use DVDs.
"With DOA4, we'll be using the disc's capacity to its full extent. We started development on DOA4 pretty early, and we didn't know what disc format the Xbox 360 was going to adopt. So when we learned about it, we were really knocked out."
This is a realistic concern to have as HD video requires large amounts of disc space that the DVD format does not have. Sony, on the other hand, are to use the much larger capacity Blu-ray discs, so PlayStation 3 developers should not face such problems.

Microsoft: Ps3 cant do 60fps on 1080p. Guess what they were WRONG!!!!!
(11/19/05 - 9/19/06) Microsoft: Sony's 1080p support on PS3 is all Hype and Not Needed.
(9/20/06) Microsoft: Xbox 360 to add 1080p support.

Lol you caught me, i didnt read the article my internet has been running real bad lately and just went off what i thought the quote meant. My bad, am reading it now.
EDIT: Ok read the article, does sound logical but last I heard Blue Dragon was still 3 DVD-DLs I doubt they would sell it like that if they could utilize the coding enough to fit it on 1-2 discs, it costs them alot more in production costs.
Also anyone noticing Afterdawns tags arent working properly?(not just quote but url and stuff)

I think that the Blu-ray Feature should be implemented into like psp or something because it's sonys product but then again the drive it would need would be bigger.

real cost of PS3 with its current questionable set of parts 900 sale price 599.
a modified PSP with a micro sized BR payer would be 900-1500,it being micro sized and all ,well not micro but slim style like notebook/laptops have.
the PSP is already big enough with a slide out drive design it could do DVDs instead of sonys sad attempt at another Mini disc.

its not 900, its 800 on the 500 and 850 on the 600.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

whatever, and I pretty much think those are units shipped
love this quote "Since when did we start believing Sony PR again?"
anyway the PS3 is doing ok despite its price, sure the PS3 beat the 360 in "sales" and the WII is knocking them both flat, and will into 08.
Look at eBay yo can find PS3s for retail price the PS3 is no longer a "hot" item.
