Thanks PROBLEMS - got hold of one verbatim disc last night and left the game burning when I left for work this morning. I'll report back later....
Its wierd though cos all my other games have worked fine on these sony dvds, even scarface!! Bully is the only one I've ended up making coasters with!
I am a newb with the PS2 stuff though, so it takes time to research all i need to know!
Thanks for your assistance though guys

We don't need a patch though - just to follow instructions!! I know that my problem has been caused by shoddy media so hopefully when I try later everything will be fine and dandy!!

2.4x on 16x media would be too slow. Its recommended to burn at 1/2 the disc's max speed.

Seeing as i'm on dial-up for a while, I won't be able to download the game until next Monday-Thursday when I get my broadband back. I have Panasonic DVD-R 16X Writing Speed discs and so far I have burnt Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition with it at 12x speed and worked like a charm. Should I start burning at 4x speed to make sure I do not get any problems?

Well this thread has got me confused! LOL
Am I right in thinking that this Zoneloader thing basically works as another Swap Magic disc? Eg. You do your thing with Swap Magic, but instead of entering a back-up, you enter the Zone loader thing first, and then the back-up?
I have read that you need this Zoneloader if you back up Scarface. Is Bully the same?
I use SwapMagic 3.6 and Verbatim discs. I use either DVD Decryptor or Nero aswell. Will I need Zoneloader? I am unsure as some have needed it and some haven't.
Also, can anyone give me any information on this Zoneloader? What it does, where to get it etc etc.
Cheers

Greetings all! I have read through all the replys within this forum and they have been a great help. I still have a problem with this game. It is interesting. After I have downloaded the ISO pack, of course I though it would be a simple unzip and burn. Man was I wrong. As I unzip the file I see that it is 4.6 GB, which of course is insane. After I did that, on the desktop I see now as 4.3, I have no idea why. I continue to DVDDecrypter to burn it and it is back at 4.6. I have tried all different types of media at 2.4x, 4x, and even 8x. All half the speeds of the media that was used. Even tried to rebuild, of course it is impossible. I use Swap Magic 3.6 on a slim PS2. Once the game starts I can see the entire opening movie, then it will load up to the game, then I can see the clip when the teacher come out to greet you. After that moment I'am within the school. The game works up to that point and my PS2 lens sounds like a machine gun. I'am just going to say, for those of you that have working copy - lucky you, but as for my situation I'am done with this file. I have wasted too many dvd-r's and +r's. I'am sorry for this long post.

i burnt with verbatim 16x at 4x with DVD Decrypter and i've fully completed the game now (not 100%; all the main missions)
did have a few problems: froze once during loading and twice asked for the disc inserting, also once i think the sync on a cut scene was out...
:O

look people the only thing you need to change on your DVD Decrypter is the burn speed, you do not have to verify or change anything else
make sure you use -R discs and burn at 4x
and to solve almost every problem that you guys are haveing use an origonal not a download and you will see a major improvement

Using a TDK 1-16x DVD-R (that's what it says on the disc, I'm not sure if that's the actual speed), DVD Decrypter at 4x speed, Swap Magic 3.6, and a slimline PS2; I successfully burned Bully without any extra steps and the game hasn't given me problems (yet, I'm not very far into it so I'll hang onto the ISO for the time being). I was very wary of this game's performance since the reports from this thread kind of put me on my heels however, I pushed forward and burned the game anyway with the settings up there.
The game does indeed have massive load times but it does seem like a gigantic game (the graphics are better than GTA (very reminiscent of the recent Tony Hawk games, actually) and there's a ton of spoken dialogue). However, as a whole, its shaping up to be an excellent game.

So, PROBLEMS, all I have to do is get my hands on the orginal copy and work from that. I have been using DVD Decrypter at 4x and I get the same results. I will try it from the original game and see what happens.

As a ruleof thumb, its always better to make a 1:1 backup rather than burning an iso you get off the net.
