Hello
Ive tried port forwarding on my router website the 192.etc.etc.etc and i used the ip that it gave me with ipconfig i have only forewarded the 2 ports that i have it set to use... dont know what other ports im supposed to open... or how to make it search more then 1 port... (I also dont know how to private msg someone lol) im getting max download speeds of about 40kB/s... is that all i should be able to get with highspeed cable? or should they be alot higher? well any more help would be great

after i did the port forwarding and i check my ports at this site www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 they told me that all my ports are STEALTH
what can i do
and i can not get into my modem configuration if i tipe my adress into the browser

hey thanks redscorpi i found out that i didnt forward my ports properly, even though i've looked on this forum and others and did exactly wat it said and still didnt work. i was wondering if you can help me out with the forwarding cuz i cant find anything on how to forward ports on my router. it's a d-link di-704p, the silver box one not the black box. k thanks man.

Hi, I've got the D-Link 624+, also the silver box, I'm sure its pretty much the same.
Open Internet Explorer and type your routers IP like you would configure it, in there click on Advanced and then select Firewall. In there enable it, type in a name you would like to call it, select Allow. At Source select WAN and in the IP range start box put a star (*) without the brackets of course. At Destination select LAN and in IP range start type in the IP of your router, protocol should be TCP and in port range you enter 6881 - 6890, select always and click apply. The router should restart, do so with your PC too and let me know if it worked.

can anyone help me please...i have been trying to route my ports etc and im pretty sure ive done it right..geting the green light only still having d/l speeds of 0-10
I have zone alarm pro..and ive routed my BitTornado through that ..I THINK...does anyone know how to actually do it so i can check ve done it right..and ive switched off my xp firewall...otherwise im lost as to why its still so slow :S....and ive done that ip thing....im just lost as to why its so slow....and can anyone advise me on another program? abc or axuresus maybe? im just lost

I need help guys, I am using Azureus, the lastest version, Using XP SP2. I am using a DSL modem, 3MB download, however test show up to 1.5MB, I use Windows XP firewall, the port 6881 has be allowed . I also have norton antivirus 2004. Ok I have been having very very slow speeds and alyways getting yellow. So if someone can help me with some specific info it would be a great help.
oh yeah the config wizard says I have some NAT problems I have looked around but still dunt quite understand what to do other than allowing the port in windows firewall

My Bittorrent D/Ls have been going painfully slow (0-10kbs) lately, and however helpful this forum has been, the problem is we don't have a router. We have a Motorola SB4200 Surfboard Cable Modem and a D-link DWL-900AP+ Wireless access point. Please somebody help me, I cant stand this much longer!!!!

I'm getting speeds of about 40kb so I really can't complain compared to some of you guys, but I just wanted to know, the light is green, I allowed port forwarding on my router and when I check the port probe they all say closed. So everything seems find but when I run the nat check it fails on 6881-6890. what gives?

yeah the same thing has happened to me with that but i have no clue what to do, and i've been downloading at 5 - 20kb if im lucky, somethings definitely wrong.

Wow!!! Way too much conflicting and contradictory information her for a simple solution to this problem. Okay people, disable your software firewall if you are running one and follow the step by step on this link

hey, Ive been using bit torrent for quite a while now, and started off at speeds around about 40 kb/s now im down to 20 kb/s if im lucky.
I don't have a router and have setup my xp firewall to allow bit torrent, I have a 256kb/s connection speed someone please help!
(is it true that the more files on your computer slows the download rate because there is more for it to upload rather than download?)

If u are uploading a couple of files at a time (4 or more) then, yes, im pretty sure that slows down your download speed. Multiple downloads at a time can also slow download speeds.
If you are downloading something stop uploading (seeding) temporarily until you finish downloading. Continue seeding when download finishes.
On Azureus leave your torrents for uploading until you reach a share ratio of at least 1.000.

lol and Wicked thought i was rubbing it in, look at this rich guy with his 400 Kilos and his singature specs and eveything.
I dont think the BT client affects how fast you download something but I use Azureus, FartDude, why? which one do you use? can you download faster with the one that u use?

I use Azereus with ports 50500-65535 forwarded and triggerd but then again i pay 80 bucks a month for internet service 6mb dl and 512k upl. If anyone here can subscribe too road runner , then by all means do it.

hey, I just switched to Azureus and am getting speeds of about 20 - 30kb/s.
I have a 256k broadband connection and am using the xp firewall, anbody know how to make it faster?
( everytime i click to download a torrent it comes up system error and says it cannot find a folder in my tempory internet files ie. Ie5. or something like that but the download works fine anyway, anybody know what the hell is going on? )

u2steve if u have a green smiley on the left side of the torrent then u can't download at higher speeds than that. try forwarding big-ass ports like FartDude did, if u know how to (i wish i could, but my damn Dsl Nat configuration doesnt let me). it doenst have to be that big a range just 10 units apart is good enough, i think. if u want speeds of 400 kbs like FartDude then get his internet service: road runner cable or whatever. i mean his connection is 6mb, urs is 256kb; see the difference?
as for the system error u getting with the temporary folder deal...where do u have ur Torrent files at? u should have (or create) a folder where u got all ur torrent stuff (.torrent files and the downloaded files). i got mines at My Documents\Torrents. create the "torrents" folder on My Documents, open Azureus go to Tools->Options->Files type this C:\My Documents\Torrents where it says "Save to default data directory". make sure it's checked too.

Redscorpio, thanx alot, my bittorrents are downloading perfectly now i have changed where they are saved to.
What do i do on azureus to open up more ports and wont this make me more vulnerable to viruses
