just go into configuration and click the the transfer setting and then select one the ports within your range (u did set a port range ?), another is just use the config wizard and then u can test selected ports.
hope this helps ya out

i've had problems with Azureus in the past (as far as speed problems go) and i've found that if you're not having port problems but just want to increase your speed and have pretty much full access to the internet at the same time, you need a fairly accurate estimation of your DL and UL speeds.
first go to http://www.dslreports.com/stest and perform a bandwidth test. then take those numbers and use to configure your global UL and DL speeds in Azureus. a lot of people leave these settings at zero to try and get maximum DL speeds, but actually you're flooding your connection this way and hurting your performance because the overhead becomes so large.
i'll use my connection as an example. i received 3050 kbits for DL and 240 kbits for UL on a cable connection. since Azureus uses bytes instead of bits, you have to divide these numbers by 8. then to make room for overhead and so IE doesn't bog down, multiply these numbers by .8 so that you are only using 80% of your full bandwidth.
so for 3050 DL i get 305 and plug that in under max global DL in Azureus. for 240 UL i get 24 and plug that in under max global UL.
you'll find that everything will run smoother, speeds will be way faster, and you'll have pretty much full access to IE with no bog. all of this is in the wiki faqs so i don't take any credit whatsoever.
i realize a lot of people know this already, just thought it might enlighten some n00bs. hope this helps.

one other thing too allow torrents to dl faster is to patch xp sp2 and allow more tcp connections i think the default is 50 connections i changed mine too 150 and the dls just up and go also check some of the advanced settings in azureus if u dont have any internet disconnection issues , then uncheck settings like slowly connect new peers this will make the dls pick up speed quicker, i also for one use and older ver of azureus not the new one ( it contained a trojan when i installed it)

Ok, been looking at this thread all day now, tried the original bittorrent, bittornado, and am now using azureus. I have a 1.5mb/256kb dsl connection, a bipac 7100s, have port forwarded 6881 to 6999. Azureus says that everything is peachy, but the average d/l speed i have gotten so far is 15-20kb/s. Now I know I should be getting faster than this.
The ports are forwarded properly, and check out ok on shieldup, but I am still confused as to whether I need to do anyhting to the 7100s NAT. its enabled (net won't work unless it is), but no rules have been set.
Anyone shed any light on this for me?
Thx

Foward a different port range from within your router config dont use the default ranges, ISP's throttle these ports thus cutting dl and upl speeds, some trackers also blacklist these ports.

Ok, since I'm using Azureus now, I changed the port to 55535. Went into the NAT on the router and used dynamic NAPT and created rules for all of the computers on the network. Avg d/l speed is still the same tho...maybe even a lil worse. Maybe someone out there who has this problem sorted can get in contact with me and see if they get better rates on this torrent...
Thx

it all depends on the popularity of the file also. the more seeds and peers, and if they have fast connections and are uploading at a high speed, then your DL will be faster. try DLing a few small popular files with lots of seeds and peers before you make any more adjustments. i DLed a file yesterday that approached 180kbps, but that is very rare for me. but just because there are lots of seeds and peers doesn't always mean it will be fast. just depends on the speed of other users.

well...I've got a problem here and I hope that some1 can help me. before I used Bittorrent but there was my download speed very slow. About 1 day ago I downloaded Azureus and when I started it, then download speed was about 40 kB/s and I was very suprised. It downloaded about half an hour and then the download speed troped to 0 B/s. What should I do? My max upload is 15 kB/s. I am a big noob in such thing so I decided to ask help from ppl who r wizer than me.

that's why your dl speed is 0kb/s cause there are no seeds to give you it. I think you need to try and get Prince of Persia somewhere else or wait until seeds come. The more seeds the faster your dl speed

Does anybody know the best configuration settings for azereus, ive changed ports, max dl/ul speeds, everything! and nothing seems to make it faster the max dl speed ive had is 40 kb/s.
I know about the seed to peer ratio but is there a config that is supreme to anything else?

juudo,
give me an exmaple of a download, eg. how many seeds/peers is there and whta is your upload speed?
Azereus allows you to change your ul/dl max speeds

8 seeder(s), 24 leecher(s) = 32 peer(s) total
UL speed -5+ kB/s
Just today I was installed Azereus, but I don't like it ...
There are soo many users from I couldn't download anything
ex.(#1user - 2kB/s; #2user - 1kB/s #3user - blank etc.)

Ok so i forwarded the main BitTorrent ports and disabled any firewall on my pc (i didn't have any but oh well...). Still when testing on that site it says the ports are being stealth. I use a "Edimax 5-Port Fast ethernet switch", i dunno what to do, BitTorrent stays yellow and speeds stay slow. What the hell is wrong?

Juudo,
Everyone is meant to seed, but some dont ie. leechers. I would check how any seeds there are before i download a file. Files with a lot of seeders tend to be busy though so there not always the best option.
Make sure your upload limit is above 12kb/s and your dl speed should go higher
The green smiley means everything is just peachy.
You also get better dl speeds when your share ratio is above 1, to do this seed or leave torrents open after downloading.
go to tools and configuration wizard and make sure your port isnt the default 6881 change it to something like 50500 then test it

Doesent everyone just love BT and Azureus , i've had all these problems myself in the past, if u ask me however theres never going to be a one fix solution for BT cause everyone's internet settings or hardware is different, A couple of things though i recommend are 1. usin a random port range 2. patching xp sp2 to allow more tcp connections 3. when fowarding ports within a router config also trigger these ports.
4. Some dl speeds may seem very slow at first , give it some time maybe even a little more than a hour or sometimes maybe even 2, if u can get green smileys then u have the right recipe, but if ur speeds are continuing to drop u may havta season it a little with small changes here and there , ( Tryin to make some sense here lol). ps. u2steve disable ur xp firewall this will only slow down BT try sumthin like norton's firewall through that u can specify how want azereus too access the net, eg. u can set azereus to only access the net through ur set port range , (comes in handy some times), and another thing too which trackers are u guys here usin alot of times the tracker site is responsible for slow dl's

yeh the ports are good, just try tweaking your max upload rate to about 15kb/s and see what happens, if it goes slower just change it back. im not sure what the advanced settings are

Yes, .bin and .cue are the same as .iso files, you need the .cue file to read the .bin file, its like a summary of the .bin file. You need to use some CD Writing software and select to burn an image and point it to the .cue file and it will read the .bin file and write it to the CD
