I guess that it all came down to one of the beta-tester distributors (Who should remain shamefully nameless!) posted a link on its site and from there ... well you know the story..
Where did you find out about this? Are they still going to release the official version of the config disc or are we stuck with the Beta version that leaked? I hope the Wiikey team reconsider and continue working on updates for the chip, unless this is some kind of joke...

It's actually true. (Although I think they will be there for their customers in the future as well)
However people should show them some love, instead of complaining all the time. I think they earned some respect!

Hey kewl! Thx! I'll keep that in mind! I'm still waiting on a 2nd Wiikey to show up, and I'm gonna try it one more time myself. If that doesn't work, obvisouly my solder skills are lacking :) I'll post back after I get the next wiikey! Oh, does your reseller also offer the wiikey (In case mine never shows up, been waiting 2 weeks now)? Thanks again!

hey i was just wondering.. and i dunno if this is wiikey related or.. my wii needs a lens cleaner, but whenever i play a backup disc for a while the DVDs end up getting scratched somehow. and as a result at some points of the game it goes to the black screen saying "The Game Dsic could not be read. Please read the Wii Operations Manual for some information."
any idea of what i should do before i spend my money on something i wouldnt need?

I need some help. The first time I modded my Wii with a Wiikey, nothing ran. Actual disks or backups. So I modded it a second time, this time, actual disks SOMETIMES run, and most of the time, I have to tap and/or shake the Wii a few times before it works, and of course backups still don't work.
Anybody know a good reason for this and know a good way of fixing it?

This is not really a suggestion, merely a comment on the few times this happened to me. I would put in the disk a few times and get the same error, and try another disk which game me the error, but then I would keep going until one of my disks worked (usually the third one.) and then put the first disk in and it woulld boot up just fine. But my Wii has always been sensative to any scratches or blemishes on the disk whatsoever. It seems to be a crap-shoot to if it will work or not. If for some reason the disk quits working I just end up burning a new one from my backup .iso

This sounds like the issue many people were having when testing the WiiKey on the newer chipsets that will not use the WiiKey (i.e. D2C)

If you have your Wii vertical, try horizontal or viceversa.
What type of scratches do you have: random or a clear circular pattern at, let's say 1/4 inch from the outer rim?

So they took the dvd dumper to sd off the disc? If this is a beta disc hopefully it'll be back on the next release. I know I can still use the old disc to use it but the dumper program doesn't support dual layer discs.

I downloaded both of these:
Padded/Filechopped images:
1.9s US
Config 1.4 US
But what do I do from there? Just burn each to separate DVDs and run them? Which do I run first?

I had same problem when I updated Wiikey first time (1,9g). Tried to
do that "trick", that you take the DVD off before it begins the test
and the real run. It worked, but later I noticed that mario galaxy
still didn't work. It said something like "unauthorized device detected".
So it didn't really do anything (i guess).
Later I decided to run the recovery disc, and try to update wiikey after it. And it worked. Galaxy ran correctly, and didn't say anything about
wiikey. I hope this helps you =)
ps. I made this account/nick just for this ;)
pps. Sry my bad english, if it's not good

Can anyone verify a filechopped + GCOSed 1.9b Recovery disc only reads 7MB after burn onto a DVD-R?
After a whole day of attempting to recovery my wii, a new symptom came up and that is if the reject button is pressed, it'll half eject the disc, suck it in and spit it out.
Any help guys? :(

I dunno much but have u checked your connector for the faceplate-wii. i used to have a similar problem but i think it was the Wiikey (cos i think i have a clone, but donno how to tell if it is), i fixed it by grabbing my wii and shaking it, mustve shook the modchip back in place...

Can you expand on this a little? So are you basically saying that my Wii doesn't accept Wiikeys?

Run the 1.9s update first.
The update will run twice (first time as a test, second time is the real update), complete both stages. It will ask you to press the A button. That is the A button on a GameCube controller. If you do not have a Gamecube controller, push the reset button on the Wii in its place. (You can also use the Reset butto to scroll through choices by tapping it)
You will then use the Config disc to change settings of the Wiikey if you need to do that.

Well.. if you have wii with serial code above LEH 135xxxxx, wiikey wont work with you.
You must have another chip, like D2Ckey or D2Pro or Wasabi (I could say that it is even easier to install than wiikey)

Unfortunately that sounds exactly like a semi-common problem i have seen in the past that required a repair job by Nintdo.
The disc is wobbling inside as it spins, most likely something is just a little loose. Try setting the Wii horizontally, see if that helps.

Its ok, but here the problem. I upgraded to 3.1U the firmare. My Mario Galaxy and other backup games are working fine. Just my brawl is not working. So when I try to run the 1.9s update is still in error mode
Your suggestion is to run the recovery disc and retry again?

If your wii lets you run a wiikey update, does that mean you use wiikey?
