How in the world do you keep good ratios with a 17k upload rate?

The UTorrent client is quite good but i have a copy of the Usenxt client which can take up to speeds of 3megabytes per secon(ithink lol????) But still utorrent is ggod for me to, but it takes ages ane ages to download a small files (around 50mb) in this case i was trying to download a driver for samsung e900. Are there any other progs, which can download at high speeds and not lose any trackers or seeds?

Im confused about 1 thing. So i have 6.2mb Cable with a 360k upload rate, if I set my upload to 36 (360/8 x .8) as this guide suggests wont that eat up all 80% of my bandwidth on just uploading alone leaving me only 20% to download? its my understanding that its proportional, please fill me in I fear that im lost in confusion =)

audi, it is proportional but putting it to 75/80 percent will not straddle ur downlaod speeds, it will actually allow you to download at your peak and uplaod very well as well.

I was reading some of the post on speed. im using braodband and on a wireless network... my max down speed ive seen is around 740 kbps which ive only seen once. several times ive seen 300 kbps and more however i have one dl that started and whent to over a 100 kbps a while then quickly dropped for some odd reason now i have a hard time getting up to 50. and less than a 100 or 150 kbps is really slow to me any ideas?>

12) Under preferences in Utorrent, go to Torrents and set global max and max connections to 450.
------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently checked again your guide and this step really ponders me. What if your max_halfopen connection is not set to 50 and just 10? Is it still neccessary to put your max connection to 450? By all means, are you saying that setting your max connection to 450 is applicable even though my internet is only 1mbit?

Anyway, do I have to pay when changing my ISP or is there a way to do it for free? LOL

well you probably pay like 20-50 dollars a month currently for your ISP, so if you switch, you just have to cancel one and pick another ;)

I have a quick question about utorrent. Under additional bit torrent features in the preferences, should I have the DHT boxes checked or unchecked? I noticed that my ratio wasn't going up much on one of my private torrent sights and that's what someone suggested that I do.

is anyone here on a dsl connection from a university? If so, what are your average download speeds? Im currently downloading a 413mb file at an average of about 20kB/s and i followed the guide step by step to maximize my download speeds. Any tips for users like me sharing dsl on a campus?
