DVDFab asks that you close AnyDVD before using it!! How could that help.

I always ignore that message, and it works, what can I tell you.

Try using the AnyDVD ripper-file mod-notISO- to get clean file to HDD

Tried that, received I/O error.

And after coasterizing 3TYsX8-and I hope not +Rs-, much less 7,I think I would have snuck a RW disc in there until I got it right. That's a high quality 7 coaster set of TYs. You might as well make it 8 and put it on ebay. LMAO

Those coasters were attempted with Clone,Recode, and Shrink. Since I had a few problems with ripping, I thought it had something to do with the data, and I didn't have any RW's.

So Far so good. anydvd ver 6.4.9 and dvd shrink 3.2 I was able to rip a dvd5 sized file. tried to play from hard drive found my results lacking:
1. The file had issues playing w menu maybe next ill try no menues just the movie.
2.movie finaly played but dvd program crashed.
right this second im ripping using anydvd ver6.4.9 to back up the whole disk. Next I will try just the movie fit to dvd5. Ive yet to try to burn the ripped dvd5 sized file. Not going to waste my time and money burning coasters. while writing this anydvd finished ripping results:
menue issue fixed . so next im gonna fit to dvd 5 .
p.s. why rip on the nubes. This has been difficult for experienced geeks. We learn through adversity.

Usual process of dvdfab 5028 > fixvts > dvd shrink > imgburn. No problems at all for this one.

update: Anydvd 6.4.9 sucsess ripping full dvd9 sized w menues and extras. recoded to dvd5 size w Dvdshrink 3.2. made mistake and did not devide the vob into 1gb chinks. plays fine great quality but wont burn because of the vob size. retrying now with dvdshrink w option set for division of the vob onto 1gb chunks selected. will be back to let you know how it burns or if it burns. I might try avsdvd for the recode for its decent sucsess at dvd5 sized recode w menues.
p.s. its been a while since ive been on this site can i edit my posts or is my sn for this site to new?
p.p.s. Tried to burn and the files created are just slightly to big for a dvd5. One more try w dvdshrink w higher compression. then im going back to avsdvd.

I managed to back it up with DVDFABHDDECRYPTER4120 & CLONEDVD movie w/menus only. Played with no problems. First I had a few coasters, using dvd-r once I switched to dvd+r's it worked. You might want to try that.

3:dvdfab v5030 (free) -crashes
4:avsdvdcopy v? (free)w dvd43 or anydvd - crashes
anyone w luck w this title and free software please post or repost. Ive searched and tried most suggestions w no avail. Im tring to get to end result of dvd-5 back up. But Id settle for just hdd backup at this point.

* Your DVDFab v5030 is old. The latest is 5208.
* Get the latest of DVDFab HD Decrypter 5208 and it should rip this beast.
* Don't ever run AnyDVD and DVDFab HD Decrypter or DVDFab Platinum together - they'll eventually cripple one another.
* Forget about DVD43

Did you read any of my replies or others that got a successful ripped and burned? There are only 2 easy solutions: (1) DVDFab HD Decrypter (FREE) and (2) AnyDVD (trial or paid). Just make sure that they're the latest and it should rip TDK flawlessly.

steps i used to get a working dvd5 sized back up of the dark knight - movie only.
1.anydvd ver6.4.9 ripped whole disk to hdd.
2.dvdshrink 3.2 to recode to dvd5 movie only
note: option splitting vob file into 1 gb chunks. and compressed 62 % left me with a movie thats a good quality.
3.burned using nero @ 18x
4:played great on pc and in dvd player.
next im gonna try clone dvd w menu .

If you insist :D Clone is a transcoder not an encoder. You'll get better results with rebuilder, If youve never tried it, TRY IT!

You're welcome, glad you've made a backup.

When using Nero Recode 3(4), just make sure to use "Advanced Analysis + High Quality Mode + Assign Best Quality to Main Movie" and you'll be ok/acceptable with TDK. However, the best choice for THE DARK KNIGHT is: (1) DVD-Rebuilder Pro + CCE/ProCoder/HC and (2) going for DVD+R DL.

I did a second backup with Nero Recode 3 "Advanced Analysis + High Quality Mode + Assign Best Quality to Main Movie" with 31% compression needed and it looks good on my 51" SONY Widescreen HDTV Hi-Scan 1080, but I'm leaning toward my DVD-Rebuilder Pro + CCE backup.

There are a lot of software out there and I guess people have their own taste. Some of mine are FREE and few are paid. Below is/are what I have and use.

DVDFab HD Decrypter (FREE) - to rip/decrypt (simply one of the best FREE ripper in my opinion)
DVD-Rebuilder Pro + CCE/SP2 - You can't go wrong with this combo if you're into DVD5 (DVD+R) like me.
Nero Recode 3 - to transcode, much faster than DVD Shrink and produce better quality.
ImgBurn (FREE) and Nero Burning Rom - to burn VIDEO_TS or ISO/Image file

Thank you all who posted. Im up to speed again. All is well. Dark knight no prob. Hancock no prob. I guess the important thing to do is keep checking whatever decryption software you are using is up to date. For my next trick Im going to start working with bluray and ps3. I like some of the ideas on ps3 swap method. I had another sn here back when ps3 was announced. and im glad to hear there are solutions now. THat was one main reason why I hadn't purchased a ps3 yet. I wated use my back ups and now we can! IM going christmas shopping for myself now.

In the name of the almighty one for those of us who believe there is one, how much more do we need to confirm/explain/discuss/debate/mull over/reinvent TDK. The Joker must be rolling around in his grave behind this rip.

I couldn't get AnyDVD to decrypt, so I installed DVD Fab Platinum 5.1.2.2 from torrent. MasterUploader was the source and it worked just fine. I did a Main Title back up to hard drive and then burnt with Nero 7. Perfect copy except it included the previews so then I did a full back up in DVD9 format and then used DVD shrink to remove previews and shrink it back down and of course shrink uses Nero to burn. Another great copy without the previews. If you have any questions just ask me and I will try to walk you through it

Oh by the way, about my last post. Fab took 23 minutes to decrypt and back up, Shrink another 18 minutes and then about 4 minutes to burn. Fastest back-up, rip, burn I've ever done. And don't let the title "Newbie" fool you. Been burnin since day one and I've tried all of the utilities out there. Most of them SUCK as far as speed is concerned. Today I found a great new method.

Some different utilities compress better than Fab or shrink and even burn better also. Depends on preferences. Fab rocks though as does Anydvd as the most important thing is decoding.
