Memorex is crap. This was mentioned in the previous post and numerous times in the forums. Get some better media.
Get some Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatim's from http://www.supermediastore.com

You do have Swap Magic along with the slide card, right? No the slide card won't affect you being able to play original games.

Yeah they might have Verbatim's. They also could carry Fuji's or Sony's that are made in Japan which should code out as Taiyo Yuden's. Make sure with those two brands you look for the "Made in Japan" on the label. You could also get the High Grade Maxell's that are Made in Japan. The key in all these instances is the Made in Japan on the label. The exception being Verbatim's, Verb's are always manufactured in Taiwan. If you can't find those locally, order them online.
86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:

I'll take the case!
For your first question, what is it in lieu to? How was PS2 DVD used in the FAQ you read and what FAQ was it?
As to your second problem, it sounds like you're just trying to play the burned games in an un-modified PS2. To play burned games you do need to modify your PS2 with either a Modchip, a HardDriveLoader or some type of "softmod" a la: Swap Magic, Action Replay etc.
Also, please don't use Memorex. Memorex is a horrible media, especially for DVD backups of PS2 games. It's been stated time and time again, even on this very page of this very thread!
And if you're going to use DVD+R, you're going to want to "booktype" or "bitset" the DVD+R to a DVD-ROM which can be done in DVD Decrypter. Though you need to make sure your DVD burner can perform this. So if you could post what burner you have that'd be helpful too. If it can't booktype, then just use a high quality DVD-R media like Verbatim, TDK, Taiyo-Yuden, Ritek, and on...
If you look up this page, and the page before, you can see posts made by Pspness and Tokijin that have links that answer most of your questions. They talk about what media to use, how to burn it AND the different options of mods you can choose from.
Edit: Pspness' post is on the page before this.

Whoa, slow down there skippy! Think about what you want to ask and then post a nice coherent reply containing all the questions you may have.
First things first:
What version PS2 do you have?
What if any Mods have you done to it? Anything including boot discs, modchips, magic keys, fliptop, etc.
Secondly:
uTorrent is one of the many BitTorrent clients. It's a program that allows you to download files called Torrents, that serve as a tracker so you can download big files in smaller pieces. The speed of a torrent depends on how many people are seeding or "hosting an upload", as well as the connection speed on your end. And yes, Torrents can be used to download videogames, among other things.
Just take your time and reply with some info of your current situation concerning the PS2, so all of us can help you.

@ jhillmann Use the search function. All this stuff has been covered ad nausem. Also use the edit function instead of posting four one-sentence messages. I'll take mercy on you this time, in the future, read a little.
A PS2 DVD is a PS2 DVD-ROM based game. Games for the PS2 are CD-ROM or DVD-ROM based. 95% are DVD-ROM based.

Well done as usual Tokijin! Better then I could do, but I figured I could always try to lighten the load for you vets. ;D
As for TurboG:
Most LG DVD-RW's do support bitsetting, though we can't be for certain until we get a little more specific info. Just go to Accessories>System Tools>System Info>Components>CDROM and tell us the model number thats listed for your LG there.

@iceman
nexxtech isnt a good brand, go get some verbatims or taiyo yudens. and yes, its probably a cd-based game, it says right on the disk, CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
@kris
you can get a fliptop, or the Magic Keys.
heres from tokijin's faq's
7. Q. What do I need to use Swap Magic?
A. With fat PS2 v.1-11: Flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop/page1.cfm Slide Card: http://www.saveware.com/SlideCardUsageAndInstall.htm With Slim PS2 v.12-14
Flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop-v12/pag... Magickeys (also referred to as slide tool, slim tool or, magic switch): http://magickeys.net/ Ghost Switch: http://www.saveware.com/GhostSwitchInstall.htm Tape and Tissue mod: From Pretense: If the fliptop doesn't work, just give up on it and do a tape and tissue mod. Open up your case again and tape the back sensor (toward the upper left and beneath the hinge part of the lid) with duct tape or even regular Scotch tape (I use several layers to be on the safe side), put the case back together, and stuff a small ball of tissue into the hole for the front sensor (lower right just above the power button).
Pics (Thanks to PSPness): http://www.geocities.com/pstwoslimline/tapetissue.htm my tape and more tape
Just about the same, just a change on Censor 'A' and Censor 'B'
Censor B - http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/572/dsc010703xc.jpg keep the top closed, while you tape down the disk stopper, using a few layers of duct tape
Fur
Censor A - http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/4342/dsc010698we.jpg use tiny strips of duct tape to patch over the tiny censor. I used a screwdriver to help put on the tape.
Here's some additional pictures (Thanks to xhardc0re): http://www.console.com/product_ps2_pstwofix.php
Peen!

@ Tokijin Memorex is good for trying to make backups with CD/music. But I probaly wouldn't recomend it for doing DVDs or anything like that.
