HEY thanks everyone. I just burn a copy of Beatmania IIDX9th style using DVD Decrypter with DVD+R TDK. This my first time so thanks everyone for explaining how to burn a copy of it. For some odd reason, Nero doesn't like me and it fails to burn or copy the game. PEace...

@zacer You need to install it and flash it in order to play backups/imports. Do you have the DMS 4 EZI Pro or Lite?

@DomHo Does your test station allow you to play backups/imports? If yes, then it's probably a cheap media problem. Get some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's.

86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com
Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/buyerguides/buymedia.htm

106. Q. Where I can find top notch Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media locally?
A. This is somewhat of a crap shoot. Big manufacturer's like Fuji, Sony, and Maxell have at one point past or present payed Taiyo Yuden to manufacture media for them. The big companies slap their name on the label even though the discs were manufactured in Japan by Taiyo Yuden. These discs will always be made in Japan. Authentic TY media isn't made anywhere else. Even if it says Made in Japan on the label, there is no gauruntee of getting authentic Taiyo Yuden media. You could still end up with Sony or Fuji media codes. Hence why I said this is a crap shoot. Places like Comp USA, Office Depot, Sam's Club, and Staples will carry Made In Japan branded discs. Again there is no way to know for sure from the package whether these are authentic Taiyo Yuden's. If you don't want to risk getting non TY discs, you can find 50 packs of Verbatim in the afore mentioned chain stores. One other alternative is the Made in Japan High Grade Maxell DVD+R's. They will say Made in Japan on the label and "High Grade" as well. These are excellent media. Remember when using DVD+R's, it's best you have a burner that supports booktyping/bitsetting, and a v.4 PS2 or later. Much thanks goes to kivory666 aka "docTY" for this information. He is indeed the Taiyo Yuden master. The best place to get authentic Taiyo Yuden media is from reputable online vendors like http://www.supermediastore.com http://www.rima.com http://www.meritline.com or http://www.newegg.com

Flash it with Toxic OS. Did you install it successfully? Be careful when installing it, a ton of people have butchered their PS2's installing the no solder chips.

104. Q. I can't get my DMS 4 or Matrix Infinity to boot backups/imports, what's going on?
A. You need to flash the chip with the latest firmware to boot backups and imports.
DMS 4 Pro SE or Pro: http://www.savefile.com/files.php?fid=3138141

Alcohol 120%: http://www.free-downloads.net/programs/Alcohol_120_

Burn the Firmware to CD-R with these instructions:
1. Unzip the firmware.
2. Insert your blank disc.
3. Open Alcohol 120%.
4. Go to File-->Open and browse to the cue file. Double click it.
5. Once it's open under Alcohol 120%, right click the cue file and click image burning wizard.
6. Select your recorder, leave the write method alone, set the write speed to 4x, set the datatype to PS2, and click next

Verbatim DVD-R's or DVD+R's should be fine. Go with 8x Verbatim DVD-R's for best compatibility. DVD+R's are best if used with v.4 PS2's and later and if your burner supports booktyping/bitsetting.

I've got a few questions, I know that once you burn a ps or ps2 game you need to have a modchip or swap magic but is there any stores that sell swap magic? I'd perfer not to buy it off the internet. Also I was wondering, If you do burn a ps2 game to a dvd can you use that dvd to just play it on the computer? Cause I don't have a ps mod chip so I guess it wouldn't be so bad to just play them on an emulator with the burnt dvd. Thanks

no, there are no stores that sell, NONE at all. and no, you need the iso on the computer, not on a dvd.

Emulation of the PS2 is still shoddy, at best. Most games have incompatibilites, texture problems, etc. Final Fantasy X runs smoothly in some scenes, textures missing in others. Give it about 2-3 yrs. And no, buying a $250 graphics card will NOT solve the prob. It's still figuring out the emulation of the processor(s). Great work so far, but i'd stick with a real PS2. as for buying a swap magic disc, I bought mine from http://www.ihackps2.org and very pleased.

if you're a college student, do NOT settle with the RIAA http://tinyurl.com/37oz2z

I heard Resident Evil 4 works great with the PCSX2 emulator.

Maybe through certain parts, but I don't know if there's a single game that's playable from start to finish on a PS2 emulator. I could be wrong, but from my understading, PS2 emulation is still more myth than reality.

I seen an in-game video of RE4, and I must say it worked smooth. Of course, the graphics were a bit blocky. Hm.. I just checked their home page at pcsx2.net, and now it shows 'nothing' under the status for RE4. I'm pretty sure I seen it say Playable at one point. If you check out the compatability list, there are quite a number of games that are playable though.

Maybe so, but it's still a work in progress.

From their official site:
Quote:
The PCSX2 project attempts to allow PS2 code to be executed on your computer, thus meaning you can put a PS2 DVD or CD into your computers drive, and boot it up! Basically PCSX2 will let you play PS2 games on your PC.

The project has been running for a little over three years now, and since it's initial release has grown in compatibility. From initially just being able to run a few public domain demos, it's current state enables many games to boot and actually go in game, such as the 'famous' Final Fantasy X or Devil May Cry 3.
The compatibility list seems surprisingly good, but you still need a beastly PC to even attempt to emu PS2 games. It may be better than I intiially described, but not much. Anyway we have modchips, so leave the PS2 Emu to people with non modded PS2's. Cheers!

What's the Media ID of the discs you're using?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Last but not least you can use DVD Info Pro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
