If you have a 2nd generation Wii then you should go for the D2BWiiKey, use this to see what you have http://nintendo-scene.com/wiitracker/search.php

Thanks Brightspk and Dman125! I did check it out at the link Dman provided and your right Brightspk it is the D2Ckey I'll need. Is it hard to install? Sorry if that is a dumb question but I am really new to the game consoles and have learned a lot in the past several days but there is a whole lot more I don't know....lol!

I have just purchased a Wii with teh DC2 chipset, too me about 2 months to get deliverd so dont really fancy destroying it with solder just yet.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a modding service in the UK, thats relatively quick, and not too expensive. PS3CONSOLEMODS are doing the service for £100 is that the going rate?

Cheers guys, any help would be much appreciated

By the way, which website did you download the game from??
Any experience with UnlimitedGameDownloads.com or game copy pro?
These 2 require membership, they are legal, but did not read any feedback or found a forum about downloading & playing wii games.

Great site here and very informative, I am glad I found it. I do have a question and please accept my apology if it has been asked already. If it has please be kind and point me in the right direction, thanks.

I downloaded a wii game off the internet, I didn't know about backing up games until now. It was in ISO format and all in one file, 4.37gb. I followed the instructions that came with it to burn the file. I used a Lacie external dvd burner to burn the file using imgburn at 3X speed. The disc I used was a Maxell DVD-R up 16X speed. The burn went fine and when I tried to use it I got the error message "Unable to read disc". While reading the posts here it seems I need to add some type of chip in my WII, is that correct? My console is new and supposedly the second version, not sure what that means.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was looking into some sites, but my problem is that most (if not all) don't allow you to view their downloads before you pay them.

I'd want to see a list of downloads that I could get after I pay, before paying. They should make their download lists available to everyone.

Hi Maxvista1,

I use EZMovies to download that particular game. It too is a paid site, lifetime membership with one payment. So far it's been a good site but does take a long time to download, I guess like any other site.

Westaj,

Ezmovies allows you to see some of what they offer but is limited. I forgot what site I read about them, but they came highly recommended. They definitely have a wide variety of downloads, movies, music, books, games, etc. It's hard for me to say how good they are compared to other sites since I don't belong to any others, but have been pleased with their selection so far.

Personally I have used wii isos/megauploads to backup my games. You dont need to pay to download, but your limited to 4-5 downloads at about 100kbs. With a paid membership (about $10USD) you get unlimited at around 1mbs.

Usenet is by far the best way to get your downlaods if you can afford about £6 a month.

Unlimited downloads, speed only limited by your own maximum banwidth (eg. if you have have an 8 meg connection, downloads at 800 kb/s)+ always have all the newest games and alot of pre-releases.

I use newshosting.com and would never go back to torrents or peer to peer, I've been spoilt if anythings downloading @ less than maximum bandwidth it just annoys me

Well I'm trying out the website idea. It looks like if you just take a look at forums all around, you'll find many free online sources.

For sure, you can get anything for free nowadays, but you'll suffer with very slow downloads alot of the time because your counting on other peers and seeders to upload. Torrents are always free and always have the very latest files but as with anything free, theyre painfully slow sometimes, and can be corrupt and contain viruses and spyware. (which is kind of annoying after you've just waited 2 days for some files to download!)

Usenet are just huge servers full of binary information that people upload and download to, so you recieve a constant maximum download stream. As they are all premium services, the files are almost always working and clean and if they are corrupt they can be rapaired quickly and easily with their par2 files.

Fireman4u- you are right, they can be a bit daunting at first, but if you can extract a multiple zip file you should have too many problems.

I use grabit at the newsgrabber, it logs into the server automatically, you run a search for whatever you want, download the multiple zip files listed, then when theyre all downloaded extract the first one in the list- usenet in a nutshell.

Take the plunge, you wont be dissapointed- but make sure you own tall of the 1000's of downloads you get in a months, coz piracy is bad and I don't condone it.

Thanks for the info Kingryry. I did download Grabit and configured it, and it looks easy. I have been following the instructions on Slyck's page, it is very helpful, but still a lot to learn. I'm going to play with it more later today and see how I do.

What are the steps after you download the file?
- Is the file ready to be copied on a DVD to play on your wii?
- Does your wii have to be moded?

** for PC games downlaods no problem, probably everybody can do it, but for wii???

HeyMaxvista,

Not sure if your question is for the download site I belong to or not. If it is the downloads do not need decoding, at least the ones I've downloaded. What I have found out through this forum is that you do need a modchip to play the Wii games. If you download from newsgroups the files need decoding and there are readers that will do that for you. I hope this helped.

Kingryry,

Thanks for your help and believe me I will give a shout if I need help, but trying to read and learn what I can before I post a lot of questions.

I was wondering for usenet, the free trial is only 3g. So does that mean that is all you can download during the whole week trial. If that is true than you can't download a backup wii game.

@Colten
The drive selected in ImgBurn is only a cd burner - you need a dvd burner. So if you have one pick that under 'destination'.

Make sure the directory that you are running RawDump from has enough free space.
You also need to make sure that the file system is NTFS not FAT32.

Quick question.

I put a DVD into my Wii expecting it to play and it didn't. (It's not modded yet.)

After I add the D2C modchip will it allow me to play DVD Movies as well?

That's kind of dumb it doesn't do it already. Even PS2 plays movies. And it's not like it doesn't have a DVD drive built into it.

THANK YOU
First you need a good newsgroup program. A good free one you can get here:

http://xnews.newsguy.com/

Then you just need to look on your ISP web page or contact the and find out what the settings are for their newsgroups server.

Then you just get a list of all the newsgroups your ISP carries inside of xnews and search for newsgoups with wii in their names. Then you can search the different newsgroups for the files you are looking for and from there it is very easy to have xnews download them for you.
