Thats a great question...as I was wondering myself. So how can we tell if our burn is good without a wii (modded) to test. There must be some way to see the contents of the dvd? From reading other threads I understand that I can do disk to disk copies.
How can we test our DVD backups after they have been burned?

From my understanding I dont think that it is logically possibly becase windows explorer cant read the information and the dvd and be able to view it.. What I do is look at the bottom of the disk and see if there is a brighter ring... If so I know that something is on the DVD disk

Good point Thinone - one I failed to pick up on.
You can use read mode in like ImgBurn or Decrypter and Nero Disc Info etc. to see the amount of data written to the disc - that's about it. But that doesn't confirm a good burn that will play on the Wii.

How about trying to tempt Mr dvd shrink man to produce something for all this wii backing up thing? just a thought as he was instrumental in backing up dvd films.

Get Winrar (free trial, it will ask you to pay to register every time you start it) 9 times out of 10, the files end in .rar, .001, .002, .003, etc. These are Winrar files, and you put them back together using Winrar. Once you extract the file, you should be left with a .iso or .wii file (use rawdump to convert .wii into .iso) and you can burn that.

Very doubtful he will though stranger things have happened. Shrink hasn't been updated since mid 2004 plus he works for Nero so that may be a conflict of interest :)

the way to see if a game has burnt is use brickblocker - it will read the region of the image, still wont tell u if it works ok or not, nothing will but it will give u an indication until ur wii is chipped

Hi gentlemen,
I am glad this forum exists!
I bought my wii a couple of month ago. Did not open it yet to see whether i have the D2C chip with the cut legs, as special triwing is still in the mail. But most probably will need a D2Ckey
While browsing have found out that new wii with D2C was modified using the wiikey after they managed to trim the ship and soulder wire to it.
Check this link:
http://www.wiikeyguide.com/images/WiiKey...m-Guide-D2B.pdf
What do you think guys???
-one more thing did anyone try unlimited games download membership?? they claim to have downloadable wii games??? but the questions is? do you need a moded wii?
- does anyone know a wii game sharing website?

is there any particular one you would recommend over the others? because i have this thread bookmarked because of what you have written, and have managed to read the entire thing, one very bored night.. and i'm just trying to figure out which one will b worth putting my money toward. =]
and since im at it.. i have another question about modding my wii.. would u recommend the wiikey or the wiinja? i have a site in the uk i was going to get the wiikey from, but since it is pricey i want to make sure i get the right chip info before making any decisions.
semi-damsel in distress...

LightScribs are awsome for buring, but as for reading Wii dvds... no... it cant. I have the same drive, for burning. Read the guide to see what drives can be used for reading games, and keep in mind, if its NOT in the guide, it will NOT read the disc

So I hope I am not breaking any forum rules by posting here..
I have ordered the supplies that I need to back up wii games and downloaded the software. However, my WII is not modded yet. Can anyone help me out and test one or two for me to make sure they are working correctly?? It is the new version WII and I don't trust myself to install the chip. I live in GA, anyone know of anyone near or far I can have install this for me. I would appreciate any help.

instead of hitting contiue choose quit.
eject disc make sure its clean. or just eject and put back in.
start rawdump hit start dump and it will ask you if you want to continue.yes
this work %90 of the time for me.
let me know if it works for you.

Thanks my friend, just ordered the 8164B hope it comes quick, howcome other drivers don't work is it something to do with the chip inside the driver or a codec?
I'm assuming the 8164B drive will make the wii game show the files on the dvd just like a standard pc game?

Has anyone experienced trying to play a copied game and the icon on the wii menu works but the game that just has a black screen, im confused on if it was a bad rip/backup as i have tried twice or it was aa ntsc game and didn't seem to wanna run.
Im trying a PAL game now and hopefully that will work.
