Seam they are getting harder and harder to find, ebay is the best bet at the moment.
Cheapest is the GDR8082N by far at the mo...
seen the odd faulty GDR8161/2/ go for peanut's.. but these 'are' a risk

I did what Bunny said and i backed up all my Wii & GameCube games! I don't know what your doing wrong, sorry. LOL!

I found a new drive that works and works in less then 1 hour......
Woot its a LG drive DVD RW + - Model is sp DRDRRS CWA-0083B
This was taken right from device manager in vista.
Works really fast no errors.
WORKS LIKE A CHAMP....
:) ILL KEEP LOOKING I WORK ON PC ALL THE TIME AND ALL DAY LONG..

For some reason it also comes up with 11*1
Also using another program to dump with called power to go express by cyberlink and it works better then all the other programs I have used and is much faster 2.

YES my backup of my real game :) is playing great its not skipping bugging out or nothing.
I found I think the fastest drive for real.

Yes right size too also tes wii is modded and I may be a new person here but Im from back in the day and I watch for this all the time on all game systems.
Been doing this kind of fun for about 15 years.

Can you open your PC and tell us the model number on the drive, I searched the #s you gave, and nothing comes up

Right off the top of the drive it is
V/M HL GWA-4083B
HP P/N 5187-7573
WORKS FOR ME OTHERS TRY IT IS WORKING PERFICT FOR ME.
- RIGHT SIZE IMAGE
- WORKING WITH OTHER SOFTWARE
- FASTER
- NO ERRORS

Hmmm, i dont seem to find that drive for sale anywheres. But I did see lots of fourms saying the drive tends to fail for no reason

Exact drive info pulled from friidump 4.0 is
HL-DT-ST/DVDRRW GWA-4083B/1.15 <-----That must be the firmware version the last set of numbers their. :)

Found another working one with friidump 4.0 It is a NEC/DV-5700A150 Firmware is 1.50 made in year 2000

Time takes is aprox. 4 hours to get done though.
But is working in modded wii fine.

Found another one made by BTC
Works with friidump one thing is is no light shows up but is ripping though can hear it + game when done is right size and play very well.
This drive is 16 x BTC DVD-16x/DVD-ROM BDV316C/.20M works in 3hours 37 min to complete working game backup.
Well call it a night check like 37 drives today and I do plan to find more as I have much work left and Drives stacked waiting.

Found another one made by BTC

i use tdk and they r high price but they r good quality and no erros on 49 disks. verbatin r also good and sony and imagination... donmt get princo thats wot they use on backups in asia and they r dodgy and reck your wii laser
