Dumping takes about 2 and half hours for Gamecube and up to 12 hours for Wii!! Any suggestions? I have a 8163b, but I am using rawdump v.4 since 2.0 is giving me errors. I was reading and finding contradicting information on how to make your settings for IDE. Which one will make it faster? Mine is currently set on DMA if available.

ok guys sorry if this has already been addressed but I tried looking through the first five pages lol... But let me go ahead and ask it..

Do you need a mod chip for the wii to play a downloaded wii game, we'll say in ISO format off of an external hdd connected to the wii?

hey all, question for an expert if i can?

i have a Argon 13+4 wires, i have updated latest firmware from infectus for the chip.

i dont have that type of LG drive but i was able to dump a raw image with a pioneer in about 3.5 - 4 hours with friidump. Used rawdump 2.0 to unscramble and create an ISO, checked the raw and the iso, both are the correct size (perfect).

burned iso using imgburn on several setting as slow as 2x. my version is a PAL wii. the disc i dumped is a PAL game. can anyone suggest to why it can not read the disc.

could my brand of dvd-r be the issue? is there a specific compatibility brand that the wii will only read???

NOTE : dump using rawdump 2.0 will not work and i have 2 burners, the other is a brand new LG only 3 months old.

any suggestions. cheers peeps

in addition.

when i try to test my disc for region info using regionfrii its comes up with an error that this may not be a wii iso would u like to continue and when i do it states the region to be JPN so i click PAL and when i load the iso again to check it says its now in PAL but still wont work on my wii.

i would think that as i can dump successfully using friidump and the size of the iso is exactly what the wii disc should be, and i have the correct firmware update of the argon 13+4 chip from infectus, there should be no reason why it wont work.

can anyone pose a suggestion or 2? is there a way i can test to see if it reads as a wii disc?

the only way i can tell so far is that the wii disc wont provide any properties details on either drive and neither will my copy.

cheers

I have read the thread for Wii Backup. Can someone explain why the Wii Backup will only work on a specific LG DVD ROM drive.

The reason is that it is difficult to source one in the UK, unless you pay £50/60 for one and is only a DVD ROM.

is there a list, for DVD Writers that do the same job. As DVD writers are readers as well.

thanks

semitec,

AfterDawn does have another forum that list DVD-ROM's that allow a dump.
We know of only one DVD writer, a laptop drive. Check out the forum.

The cheapest at the moment would be a GDR-8082N, but you need to check the firmware.

Noticed some on ebay when searching for 'RAWDUMP'

When I use RawDump v2.0 and after I turn the games into an iso on my computer I always get the file size at 4,589,824 is this because i'm using PAL games and it's smaller in size? I'm just a bit worried i'm doing something wrong because on the first post it has the certain size it has to be and this is the third game i've tried.

Thankyou.

Ok i already have a wii moded with a wii-key. Did it myself, and just recently bought a new wii-key for friends wii. He ordered it from modchipstore.com and its been a week since he ordered it ( the only shipping was small packet air.) Any way i need to know 2 things. Anyone know how long it would take to get to Riverside,Ca, and the other thing is. i want to purchase a dvd burner ive been looking for the LG drives but sold out. Only on ebay and sites ive never heard of ive seen them. So ive been looking for alternatives. One of the ones i found was

Sony DRU840A Internal EIDE 20x DVD+/- RW Multi-Format Drive & DVD Burner
at walmart.
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8044610

It will not rip games, only burn them. You need one of the LG drives listed in the first post on the first page to rip them and any good burner to burn them.

@Lilsk8
No rent/borrow & rip discussions allowed here. You should only be backing up games your own - otherwise it's piracy.

Don't know why people keep saying you have to use LG 8164//3/2/1 drivs.

I have two DVDRW drivers installed on my PC, one is BenQ, one is Pioneer. I can use them to copy games (in either direction), and the copies play just fine on my D2CKey modded Wii.

Although Windows can't recognize the media of Wii Game Disc. My NERO can still proceed with disc copy. Because many times, there could be read-error occur during copy, you just need set "ignore read error" to force the disc copy to complete.

I tried with Benq's DVD-R and Memorex DVD-R at 4X and 8X, they both work just fine.

BTW, it took me only 13 minute maximum to to copy the disc.

This thread is bout ripping our ORIGINAL Wii games to make backups for our own use, you are clearly talking about making copies of copies. You should realy read the thread before posting, all you are going to do here is confuse people with inacurate information.
