Then you're using crappy media and/or burning at too high of a speed...what media brand & type are you using? and what speed did you burn at ??

That's your problem right there...Memorex suck
Best blanks for PS2 = Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's...personally I've always used Ritek/Ridata G04s or G05s with no problems whatsoever.
I would NOT recommend burning higher than 2x ...I've only burned at 1x and have NEVER had a coaster.

hey, thanks for the rebuilding tip, NFS Most Wanted, works perfectly now with Swap Magic 2.0 and dvdloader(used Shadow Hearts Covanant 'disc 1' to update the TOC size). I have had the same problems as many of u(loading constantly when u're driving, road dissapears and such) however after the image rebuild it works extremely well, been playing the game for quite a while now with NO problems whatsoever.
take note: tried the same method with SM2.0/dvdloader without rebuilding the image. but that didn't work, it still had the loading problems.

Hello,
Ive read the whole thread cuse i have the exact same problem with my backup. I would play it but its pretty annoying so i gave up. Ive tried everything sugested. I burned it at slow speed on different media, even Sony. I still have to try Maxell but im not sure if its a media problem. When i rebuilt the game it definitly worked better ( the music and CG didnt skip) but the annoying loading was still there. I tried with the Loader, didnt work. I tried pressing SQUARE at boot, didnt work. I dont know what to do anymore. My last chance is trying Maxell media. I also read somewhere that it worked if you loaded it in NTSC mode. i dont know how to do this. Using SwapMagic 2.0 and im sure i got the US version of the game. Also...downloading it...56k so i dont think so.
thanx in advance,
kev

The loading problems people have mentioned make me think that the burn speed may need to be turned up a notch. I'd try 4x, maybe even 8x. In some games the disc spins so fast the PS2 simply won't be able to keep up if the game is burned at 1x or 2x. If you have SM 2.0, try Zone Loader as well as DVD Loader:
12. Q. I have Swap Magic 2.0 and game X won't work, what do I do?
A. Check here to see if there's a fix: http://swapmagicfix.com
Q. Where can I find CD Loader, DVD Loader, Zone Loader, or Cogswap Loader?

It's 3.44 GB's. It might need rebuilt. This game has caused a lot of trouble for SM users. EA games are commonly a pain in the arse, and rebuilding is generally a good idea. I burn to Taiyo Yuden's TYG02 at 4x and I haven't had any issues with my modchip and EA games or NFSMW. This seems to cause problems primarily for Swap Magic users.

Got it to work!
I downloaded this version of the game:
Quote: 11.17.05.Need_For_Speed_Most_Wanted_USA_PS2DVD-Start2
I burned the iso using nero, on Fujifilm 4x dvd-r (made by Taiyo Yuden) at 2x speed...booted it using swap magic 2.0 w/fliptop and the game runs perfectly (I'm on the 2nd blacklist guy and the game has been flawless thus far).
Oh yeah, and I didn't press square when booting, like the other person mentioned.
For those of you having those "loading" problems... reading this thread, my guess is that the version you guys downloaded is the problem (since most of you are using first class media, burning at a slow speed, etc). Since the black version seems to be working, my advice is to download that, or get the version I got. The version I got is floating around everywhere, including most of the popular torrent sites.
Good luck to everyone...
EDIT: NVM THIS DIDN'T WORK, READ BELOW[/Bold]

Never mind....
I'm starting to get the loading problems now :(
And they're so bad that the game is pretty much unplayable.
I guess the only thing to do is download the black version and try it out.

ok just to dispel any rumors going around - my backup is from the ORIGINAL disc...not from the download.
I rebuilt this game (although I don't believe this is necessary with this game) and burned to Taiyo Yuden DVD-R and use the square button to boot and it plays flawlessly on v5 PS2 with either SM 2.0 or 3.6...if I don't press Square I get the same loading problems everyone else is getting but NONE if I do boot with square button.
Apparently this game needs REALLY good media because it accesses the disc so much while driving - like no other before it. Ritek worked too but the tiniest scratch or blemish will render it UNplayable...happened to me. Burn to Taiyo Yuden at 1x and you should be good.

I tried booting with square, same problem..
I used tayio yuden dvd-r's so i know it's not the media, and i burnt it at 2x (couldn't burn it at 1x because the media doesnt support it).
I'm downloading the black version right now, and I hope it works.
I think the reason that it's working for you is because you ripped it yourself, and you didn't download the rip taht everyone is having troubel with..as it is poor quality.

just a heads up for everyone...i don't believe the black edition rip on bitsoup is the one that's been working for Manh and Bruza. The one listed on bitsoup is
Quote: Need_For_Speed_Most_Wanted_Black_Edition_USA_PS2DVD-BUdD.torrent
I'm saying this because someone mentioned that bitsoup has it, but if you read the comments , people are having the exact same "road disappearing" and "loading" problems with this rip. And, Manh mentioned that the one he got was 2.84 gb, and the one on bitsoup is 2.84 gb
Manh and Bruza: is the one you got the:
Quote: [www.solops2.com]_need_for_speed_most_wanted_black_edition-PS2_fullDVD_usa.rar
because this is the one i'm downloading.. I don't want another coaster :(

although i burnt nfs:mw on Maxell (Ritek GO5) i used to get the
"loading" problem. it was resolved by
pressing square (special boot). i wud recommend that one should
try this before rebuilding it or recopying it on better media.
i personally don't think it is a media issue. But then
again if u used Memorex then it certainly is a media issue.

i had trouble with this game i have rebuilt it on ritek g04 disc and the game stops in races with loading written at the bottom,i have tried everything, i have swapmagic v2 and v3.6 and it happens on both even when pressing the sqaure button on the loading screen(although it does appear to not happen so often in the game)..
used hd advance v3 with my 200gig hard drive i ripped out of my pc and it plays flawlessly.
could it be a compatability option with swapmagic discs/how many people with modchips have has this same problem i wonder.

Yeah Ritek won't work for some odd reason - it works on all my other games but not this one. The game works on Taiyo Yuden though!

strange thing is if i use swapmagic and then the ritek it will stop and loading will appear at the bottom but if i use hd advance and then load the game from the ritek disc onto the hard drive it is flawless and loading times are a lot faster.

Hello again,
Update, i just tried burning the rebuilt on maxell and just when i was starting to do the victory dance, the loading came. You can imagine the word that came out of my mouth. I guess i have tried everything now. I have questions thou, when you say "press the SQUARE button for special boot" does it work on SMagic 2.0? cuse ive seen the 3.6 version and its an option given on the screen but the 2.0 doest have that. Another question...i guess the only remaining posibility of playing this game is to download the BLACK VERSION but the ones ive found are PAL mode. Im really sure my TV doesnt support it. So, what are you doing to solve this? or Are you all from Europe?
thanx,
Kev

i pressed Square and got no loading problems for an hour. after one hour i got that problem again. i am using Ritek GO5 Disc.
anyway to resolve this?
it is definitely not media coz my friend has nfs:mw backup on ultra cheap media (4 for £1). and he doesn't get that loading problem.
thanx

if your using swap magic v2.0 then i think you need to use the dvd loader disc and select option from there like i used to do with some games like dmc 3 or madagascar.
