No prob. I'm still waiting for Dsleeper's cables.xml, so I can amend the posted image and call "working Dublin image" or similar, as suggested by Sadam..
Actually thinking about it, Sadam why not you just email me your working Dublin image?
In fact, how about as many people as possible email me their *working* images, tell me where they are in the country (city only, obviously), and I'll post all the images on that site so that new comers to the Dbox2 can simply download the image for their city, flash, and watch.
If anybody wants to contribute, PM me and I'll give you an email to send your image and location to. But please, only 100% working images (all channels).

working in Dublin (NTL).
Is it something that the "average user" can do or there is some specific knowledge necessary?
Cheers,
Easy. It's already in debug mode - all you should have to do is connect to your PC first (to FTP your chosen image), flash and scan. Even for a beginner, all being well you should go from plugging it in to watching telly in less than half an hour. Any problems, we're all here to help..

Thanks Benifa, the file to be flashed is the services.xml, isn it? What is that Sporster thing then?
Sorry about my ignorance :)

Not at all.. We all were exactly the same when we started out :)
The services.xml is the file automatically generated by the Dbox2 after you scan for channels. It saves the channels and their frequencies etc. Some people have had greater success by copying the services.xml from somebody else's successful scan, rather than scanning themselves. Strictly speaking though, you shouldn't need to do this..
An image can be considered the firmware the Dbox2 runs ("firmware" term used for examplary reasons only). There are many images out there, the most common for UK and Ireland being versions of Commando and Sportster. Some images work better on some boxes and in some areas better than others. It usually takes a bit of trial and error..
Your Dbox, according to the auction listing, comes with a UK image pre-flashed. You may be lucky, and this image may work fine, and so all you need to do is scan for your channels. Alternatively, you may want to use the services.xml that Dsleeper posted earlier in this thread, as this has proved successful in Dublin for some other members of the forum..
If you want to flash a new image, make sure you get a 1x image and not 2x. The Dbox2 in the listing is of the 1x variety, and flashing a 2x will result in "Kein System" being displayed on the lcd and the box won't boot. Not the end of the world, but a slight irritation..
I have had success with a version of the Sportster image. A link to this image is posted earlier in the thread. However, this is a 2x image, so it's no good for you. Another member (and I forget who) said that he successfully converted the said image to 1x using imageclone. You can google this program and see how you get on, or else choose another image, if indeed you need to change from the one it comes with. Zappp64 has some stable UK (and good for Ireland) images here: http://netwave.redirectme.net/RED-DWARF

The www.dbox2.com have now confirmed twice to me that they charge you more if you bulk buy! it is no mistake. Don't know what business shcool these guys went to! they can charge nearly ?100 more each if you buy in bulk.
I have a sagem on the way from ebay.
Do the dreamboxes work on NTL in Ireland.
Is there any way NTL can detect these things?
What is the legal situation? legal to own but not to use?

Guys
Got the nokia D-Box 2 the other day and managed to flash the image fine. I'm using NTL digital thru cable in Drumcondra, Dublin.
When I have scanned I am only getting 5 Transponders and 52 channels. No RTE's or BBC's but I am getting Sky Movies and sports.
I downloaded the services.xml file supplied on this thread (Thanks for that) and when i load this file I have the full list of channels but get nothing - I just get an error message saying that the channel is unavailable.
Does anyone have an idea of what may be wrong in this instance?
Are the services.xml files localised?? ie - Is there one for Drumcondra and a different one for Tallaght??
How many transponders should I see when I do the scan??
Any help muchly appreciated

As long as you pay for what you watch, it's legal. Therefore, we all have valid subscriptions for the channels we tune in to, and thus the purpose of buying a dbox is to simply take advantage of it's unique multimedia capabilites ;)

Yes, the services.xml is localised. It's interesting that you can the the movie channels but not RTE etc.. Do you have a digital subscription with NTL? If so, could you get the RTE channels with your Pace box?

Is it of any use, I mean, I did a bruteforce UK scan, then overwrote my services.xml. So does that not make the cables.xml redundant/or of no use?

I had 309 transponders when I did my scan.

No, it doesn't. The fact that you have the option to scan using selection "bruteforce UK" is due to your cables.xml having this option..
Anyway, Dsleeper would you like to contribute your working image, as per my previous post? If so PM me..

PS: there is a mistake in the screenshot - fast scan should be off..
Tried using that one too but got nothing at all.
That said - I had the fast scan on so I will try it again with it off.
Will this make much difference??

I will when its ready...
So here's where I am, I can do a bruteforce scan due to my cables.xml being set uo for bruteforce UK (I'm thinking of adding the IRL section from http://www.ifawilson.com/downloads/Dbox/cables.xml to mine) and redoing the scan. If that solves my irish channel problem, then I no longer need to dump in the services.xml that I have.
When I have them all (as I have now) I need to sort them into something logical (I've noticed dups etc) So the services, xml that I've posted is incorrect ;-(
I haven't figured out what to do with the adult ones, delete/hide or protect...
Then, I'll get around to creating an image.

To sort them, why not use the bouquet from my image? It seems to put them in the right order.. I'm at work at the mo so can't post this file separately, but as said, it's in my image..

I had that identical problem, could only 52 channels and no more. The only image I found to fix this was Cryo's sportster 1.02, it's quite an old image but solved my problem, I've been running fine ever since. Out of interest who did you buy the box from on Ebay, I wonder if I bought from the same seller.

the person with the 5 transponders .firstly put on benifas sportser 1.7 uk05 and flash it to your machine as yours is a nokia make sure your ucode is 0014 not 001a as this 1 is better for sagems.
scan on cable IE 6887. WITH THIS IMAGE AND SEE IF IT WORKS .
IF YOUR GET SOME CHANNELS BUT THEY ARE BLACK UPLOAD DSLEEPERS SERVCIES.XML TO YOUR BOX (ALL DUBLIN FREQUENCYS ARE THE SAME IM NEARLY SURE) now when you put the servcies.xml on.plug out the box after the upload as the machine will replace the xml with the old one if you manually shut down . make sure you have a most direct connection for your cable line from ntl and are you on mmds
