RB is the last thing that you need to reinstall. Avisynth and the rest are more likely to cause problems. If you choose to reinstall then be sure to delete your notepad config file.

Back again, I uninstalled AviSynth and RBPro then reinstalled. Ripped Pirates of the Caribbean again. Then opened RB and chose CCE 2.5 and only one pass, I wanted speed. Did 1click, movie only and got rid of unecessary audio and subs. It took about 2 hours and then I burned and it came out great even with the one pass and the big CCE logo. Did try to open the avs file with WMP and got this error message
MPEG2source:couldn't open source file, or obsolete D2V file (c:\RB1\D2AVS\V0100 etc

Datman,
I just did Conan the Barbarian with the new rc6 without a problem. That is as large as one of the LOTR discs. I'm familiar with them as I backed up my entire collection of LOTR extended versions with the older versions of RB. With a clean input to RB the new rc6 gives a good encoded output. Have you been editing the DVDs or doing anything that would alter the structure? Also, have you checked the disc itself with DVDInfopro or a similar app?

The movie playing shows the app is working correctly, that is when it plays properly as you said. You don't need to worry about any error codes if it plays and looks good. If you like the way CCE looks, the basic is about $58 dollars at http://www.VisibleLight.com . So far, a lot of us tend to like the CCE Basic with RB. Glad to see you got it going.

Was just looking at the Visible Light site, now if I get the basic do I have to do anything else in setup. Right now it just has the 2.5 path, do I have to uninstall that one before I put in the basic, or do I have to uninstall RB again. Hate to spend the money if it is going to get crazy again.

If you are getting the "obsolete D2V" message -- it sounds a lot like you are pointing to the wrong DGDECODE.DLL...

arniebear,
There is a seperate path for cce basic. You can leave path to cce sp 2.5 as it is. You'll have to fill in the path for basic once it's downloaded. Mine looks like this: C:/custom technology/cinema craft encoder basic/cce2.exe.

Datman,
Updating normally leaves your settings alone. Completely deleting and installing the app fresh puts things back to default. I updated my app and it used my previous settings and worked perfectly. Doesn't sound as though the problem is with RB unless something happened to affect the files.

Options -> Setup, click the folder in line with Path to CCE Basic and the window opens to browse to the CCE folder (wherever you put it) where you select the CCE Basic exe file. Nothing to it. You can delete the SP trial at that point unless you just like videos with the CCE logo watermark on the screen.
On the matter of DGDecode, your app should be pointing to the version that came with RB and in the RB folder. You can check that path in Setup as well.

RB is pointing to that path, however what is AviSynth supposed to do because I cannot get it to open. Does it just run in the background, and the files that are labeled avs won't open, all I get is Windows does not know how to open this file does not know what program created it. Is this supposed to be that way?

Datman,
I didn't say play them, I meant to check them with an app to see if there are any problems that might affect the recording of the original. Minor faults will sometimes play but not record. As for deleting portions of a DVD, that usually doesn't happen unless there is a setting invoked that might accidentally cause it. Something like the steal option can sometimes cause problems, but not normally the one you describe. In the RB folder in the Windows Programs folder, locate and open the file "rebuilder-Configuration Settings". Open it, copy, and post the contents here; that is if you continue to have problems that haven't cleared up.
Sophocles,
What point of interest were you talking about on agreement?

Sophocles,
We've given the same advice so often, it isn't difficult at all to repeat what someone else has said at some given time. I was referring to the post at the top of the last page that I made to Blueside. We agreed there as well and Blueside is on his way to happy encoding unless he pushes the wrong button somewhere.

Quote: Have you posted your ini setup information. My advice is to delete everything and start from scratch. Keep everything simple and clean and on a single disk.
Questions
Do you have avisynth version 2.54?
Is MPEG2Dec3dg.dll in the same folder as RB (yes it can be with avisynth too but this is keeping it simple)?
Delete your setup folder and do it all over again according to Vurbal's guide, read it carefully and then choose nothing other than what it suggests. I know this is annoying but you're missing something.

Same program, and I'm not going to search back to see when the first time was that I said to delete and do a fresh install. It's usually the quickest way to fix a lot of problems. Especially if one has to spend a few hours encoding to check each incident. It would be hard for us to disagree on the tried and true things that work. However, I'm sure we could find a way. LOL

That wouldn't be my first time, for that we'd have to go back to late JUne 04 and the "Which Trasncoding Tools Produce The Best Picture Quality" thread. It was there that this thread was conceived.
