Well, good news :-D Tore everything apart, put CCE 2.5 SP (which I have had working before) and RC5.1 of RB and it all worked perfectly!

Now all I need is a faster rig, I figure 3000+/1GB is good enough, but it took over 10 hours for a 7 pass CCE.

Change the 7 passes down to 2... 3 if you are exceptionally anal. That should get you down around 2 hours. Contrary to the advice of some -- you get pretty much nothing in terms of quality out of the additional 5 passes.

Arniebear, try the HC Encoder or do the CCE. What are you talking about on settings for CCE? Let it run on default and it'll be fine.

@brobear

Thanks for the answer, I got so frustrated I posted a thread here and at DVDRip. I am trying the HCenc now and it is about 40% done so hopefully this will work. As for the settings for CCE it just kept giving me an error message, I finally uninstalled the free RB and the Pro and then just reinstalled the Pro, and pointed the path to the ECLCCE.exe for the 2.5 ver I had. Also, I installed the key in the RB directory, but everytime I try to open the update zip file, I click on the exe and it states the key is not there and it cannot proceed. I am going to figure out this program if it kills me.

Okay, I used HC and 317 minutes later the finished product was not playable. I got sound but the picture was all distorted with horizontal lines going through it. What am I doing wrong with this? This is the same problem that happened with the free trial when I tried to use CCE, is it something in my hardware setup that won't let me use the program.

@arniebear

Please give me the procedures you go through when you use it. DVD Rebuilder should work 100% immediately following installation. You have to be changing something.

Also, please forward REBUILDER.INI, REBUILDER.INF, and REBUILDER.ECL to dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com. I'll take a look and see if I can find out what is happening in your configuration.

Actually, I do not change anything I just left it the way it installed except for the path to CCE that was asked for. The only thing I did was change the encoder to Qenc and then tried the HCenc. The Qenc did put out files that were playable on the comp, at least the fist VOB was but the second would not play it kept freezing and the file output was too big to burn. Then used the HC and got the distorted pic the same as the first time I used it with the free version. I thought it was just that I needed the Pro so opted to get it. I don't know how to get a screenshot of the output, tried Snag-it but pic comes up black. Will try something else.

What DVD are you trying to backup?

Also, as I asked before, what are the procedures you go through? Please also, send the files...

The first time I ripped the file with Shrink, movie only uncompressed it ended up 5.5g then just opened Rebuilder and picked source and did 1click and let it go.

This is the TV screen of the DVD

Also the only file that is available to send is the RB config, otherwise I can find no other files on C drive with those extensions.

Definitely messed up the installation somewhere, we just have to figure out where. A good start is with sending the requested files to jdobbs.

Sometimes some of the CCE and Pro Coder encoder "trials" cause a problem, but HC and the other freeware haven't been known to act up. Also, when you install the app, you don't give the path for the EclCCE, but for the CCE execute file. That sets the EclCCE path for the RB setup. At least that's the way I remember it way back when I ran the install. The path in the Options -> Setup should point to EclCCE for the 2.5 with the command in EclCCE pointing to the CCE execute file.

Where did you get the programs you are using for this installation? Also, I'm wondering if you didn't get some files contaminated. Read the post I made to Blueside just before this, it is applicable to your situation as well (second post on this page).

If you read my post, you'd notice that was part of the call.

I downloaded the programs from the site that the email from RB gave me when I received my confirmation. This is the setup

As for AviSynth that was setup before I installed the free RB, so how do I know if it is working, I am assuming it is.

Play one of the .AVS files in your D2VAVS folder for the project. If there's an error it should tell you. I recommend using Media Player Classic to play AVS files with.

Sorry, I can't do that because I deleted them after the project.

Arniebear,
Did you read the post yet or not? Part of that was removing the AviSynth along with the rest of the RB setup for a clean install. If there are filters you need to save or paths, you can save the folder from AviSynth. But unless you just want to spend your time searching for the cause, it's much easier to do as I said. Blueside found out I was right in short order. Get the programs you need from http://www.dvd-rb.com . It wouldn't hurt to do a fresh download of RB from jdobbs link; be sure to use the key included and install it in the same program folder with the RB execute file. Version 2.5.5 final of AviSynth should be what you're using now. Just from the looks of the screenshot, I'd suspect the AviSynth. Since that is separate, you could try replacing that first.

One thing to remember, RB doesn't work with some of those "trials" that are found on the web.

Okay I downloaded another version of AviSynth, so will uninstall and reinstall that, but how do I get the Pro version of RB all I get at the RB site is the free one to download. And when I try to login it will not let me, although I registered and it says my username is taken, it will not take the password which I know is correct.

Pro is by donation (or purchase) from jdobbs. With a donation he sends you an email with a link to download the app, along with the key that makes it work. When he develops a newer version, you get a similar email. You don't download the Pro version from dvd-rb.com. As I said, you need the AviSynth 2.5.5. With everything, and I mean all of it, deleted, install the AviSynth, the encoder, and then use the RB installation app, whether it's the free beta or the pro. Run the setup at default until you go over how to change the settings.

It sure looks like what happens when the input isn't a legal frame rate or resolution... try opening the .AVS files directly with Windows Media Player and see what they look like.

Is this a commercial DVD?
