If you are using MoparScape, there should be absolutely no port conflicts with the standard router configuration, unless there are multiple computers being run off of your primary internet router.. (if there is, you have to set up a port forwarding system). The problem, I think, may be in the client side of things...

Make sure the person trying to connect understands all of the following about their client:
1) It is of critical importance that they wait untill you've actually started the MoparScape server.
2) If their client does not display a "Server" field below the password option, then they MUST enter the server name in the password area every time they connect. For example:
Username: John Doe
Password: Stuff.no-ip.info
3) If the server name gets cut off as they enter it, for example they can only squeeze in "Stuff.no-ip.inf" they will need a shorter name to connect to. If you have one, please provide them with it. If you do not, go ahead and make one, after all it's free.
4) If they are attempting to log in to your server using MoparScape as a client (meaning they loaded it up, but did not start thier own server), they will need to make sure that your IP is typed in the server field, and not localhost or 127.0.0.1

Believe it or not this is all actually INCREDIBLY simple, all it takes is a little bit of trouble shooting and you should have no problem. For most people, networking things like this is the hardest part of getting a server up. Typically that is because most people are not familar with all of the ins and outs of port forwarding and TCP/IP.

Give it time and patience. All you guys will get there.

[Side Note]And if for some reason you don't get there... Well, you're really not missing out on much. Its fun for all of about 2 and a half days. After that, you're mind is set on getting a full working server which is no easy task...

[EDITED UPDATE]
Anyone else ever notice that when I post more than a few lines of text, the thread stops moving for a couple of days... Its sort of like peace has been resored temporarily untill someone else finds something to be confused about and them: BANG! 5 new posts!

One question:

Before you try to login to 127.0.0.1 are you actually clicking the "Start Server" button at the main screen?

Robert434, in MoparScape, you'll definately want to make sure you start the server with that button before trying to connect. Now if you just want to use MoparScape as a client for another type of server, just punch in the proper IP address and all will be fine.

Thank you for helping us and answering our questions.

I downloaded Java SDK + Netbeans bundle, but when i installed it, nothing happened. I accepted it, placed it in the default directory, and after that it showed how much space it would take up. I click next/ok, and the installer closed by itself.

Yes I have enough space.
Yes I checked the folder that was going to be filled with java stuff, but nothing was found...

:( help?

that doesn't mean anything; it compiled properly. (if you wanna get technical, it means that the java file uses some code that is no longer up to date, but still supported for backwards compatability purposes)

remember, the "password" field is actually "server"
and in the server field, you need to enter 128.0.0.1
also, your server has to be running at the time you try to log into the client. to run the server, click run.bat.

Thank you, Rancy.

It would seem to me like you may want to just re-cover your progress... Also try searching trough the pages of this thread for the link to download the Vicious_collection.rar where you should find everything you need.

In regards to the Vicious_collection.rar file:
If you have already downloaded it, please file share it! Morpheas, BearShare, FilePipe, BitTorrent, whatever. Just don't let the file disapear!

Yeah, I was scared of that happenening... I'll edit the old post with this new link here (Shown Below), and I'll try to remember to update these links ever other week or so (provided of course I don't completely forget).

TO ANYONE WHO IS GOING TO DOWNLOAD THIS: Go Ahead - FileShare it! Post it anywhere, just keep it alive. That way if someone needs it and a link is broken they can Google it and find it but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANYONE CURRUPT THIS PACKET WITH MALWARE! You can do anything else, take credit for it, I don't really mind - just don't currupt the data or use it send someone a virus. Thats all I ask.

On that note: If anyone finds that a download of Vicious_Collection.Rar contains a virus, please private message and tell me where you downloaded it from. Action will be taken as soon as possible.

Here's the new link

Yep, Rancy, you type in either localhost or 127.0.0.1, everyone else types in the IP you made.

As of yet I haven't found a peaceful way to update BlakeScape, because it is highly Java-Based. What I mean by this is that there are just *.Class and *.Java files controlling everything. There are no easy to edit files such as the *.cfg's found in MoparScape. But that aside you can still edit things by opening up both the *.class and *.java files and editing the visible data. For example, you can open up the Client.Class and the Client.Java files in NotePad and search for the word "D-Boosted" by using the find option under Edit. In both files you'll find a pharse that pops up after you've entered the server in you message field. From these files, if you replace that phrase with a new one (must be the same in both the .JAVA and the .CLASS) it will appear when people connect.

yes you gotta manually put this stuff in, thats why there isnt an "official" unofficial private server for runescape.

You can't wait for inspiration...
