hi all,

apologies for the simplicity but this is wrecking my head.

i have flashed my new eurovox tx but i am having trouble with the whole connection. i hvae a chorus box with one of those black boxes with antenna / tv on them.

i cannot get the physical connections correct and i am getting 0 channels returned as a result.

anyone got an idea where i am going wrong? do i need to connecte the tx to the chorus box to the wall?

im a bit of a computer whizz but cannot connect the wires!

nog state your area, you may have the wrong box as you could have nthell mmds which requires a dvb-c box not dvb-t. have you used symbol rate 6875 for your scan?

no stick with the other one as its related to the tx, have a read of both, all you can do is learn from it.

Hi, I'm kinda new to this, I have setup a Box for NTHell cable for a friend it was very sraight forward, I'm a techie.

A mate has a MMDS setup in Carlow and his box went bust and his supplier gave him a "The BOX-T" which is connected to a MMDS aerial, so I was looking to get a new setup the same do I simply need an MMDS aerial and the box-t to get Chr? Does anyone know where to point the mmds aerial and is it hard to detect the signal??

Also does anyone know if the box etc will work for many more years or will it be rendered useless with new technology??

Thanks

Can anyone point me in the right direction for MMDS in Carlow is it Mount Leinster or does it point somewhere else.

Is there a setup guide for connecting a MMDS aerial to a box and getting the signal?

Hi
Bit of a noob here. I have the Eurovox Tx picked out for Ch***s in Clare (Ennis region). On MMDS so as far as I can see its the right one.
Can anyone let me know of setup guides or software/codes needed to get this up and running?

Cheers for the help

if its a new box you need to flash it with firmware found in the link below in my signature, after that, it plug and play with a quick scan. thats if you are in fact on ch***s mmds, if you aint then you need a different box. symbol rate for ch***s mmds is 6875, guide to update eurovox max v in my signature is almost the same as the tx so follow that.Different firmware so don't mix it up.

Hi everyone,

Badly need some help. I put up an MMDS antenna that I got off a friend. Having adjusted the direction and raising it far up into the sky I eventually got a few analog channels. In other words, if I plug the feed directly into the back of my tv I pick up Sky News, Sky One, UTV and a few others.

I have tried using a "the box t" and progdvb with a dvb-t USB adapter on my PC but all scans fail. Shoulnt I be picking up something? Please help! Thanks

Maybe the polarization of the feedarm head is wrong or the power inserter is not fully working.

Thanks mgb17,

I received the antenna from a friend in a different area. The antenna was working for him (to receive analogue tv). Does the polarization ( Horizontal / Vertical ) vary from area to area?

I have just changed the rotated the feedarm head 90 degrees. It is now Vertical (90 degrees to the ground). The analogue signal seems better, but still no sign of any digital channels when using The Box T.

I have tried the power inserter in a friends house and it works perfectly there.

Hi

I have an amg21 antenna from satandcable with the panorama downconverter. My signal is on 234 and following the instructions here I edited the xml file to point to 674 where I get a flickering lock & sync with a very high BER. With a borrowed original Antenna I get an SNR of 99% AGC56% and a ber of 120. Any ideas why I cant get a signal using the satandcable setup? does the panorama downconverter have a higher noise figure or a lower gain than the original?
Also the brackets which fix the downconverter to the grid do not seem to fit. I had to drill a hole in the downconverter as the holes in the brackets did not line up. Has anyone else noticed this?
Thanks in advance

Try a manual scan at 682 and 690 mhz.

A friend has informed me that there is a ?deflector? in our area run by SCTV (South Coast TV - www.sctvdigital.ie) and that I might be picking up their analogue transmission on my MMDS antenna. This would explain a lack of a corresponding digital transmission.

I am going to attempt to re-align my antenna to see if I pick up the Ch0ru$ signal. What polarisation should the feedarm be set to (its currently at 90 degrees to the ground)? Also, if ch0ru$ are no longer sending out an analogue signal how can I detect the strength of the digital signal as I am moving the antenna? Doing a full scan each time I fractionally move the antenna could take forever? Thanks

SCTV do not broadcast at the same freq as Chorus.
Their Digital service broadcasts in the 11Ghz range and I think the Analogue service is sub 1Ghz.
Chorus are still transmitting an Analogue signal in your area albeit only 2-3 unencrypted channels.
The feedarm or downconverter should be pointing parallel to the ground.
The polarity will depend on your location.
It sounds like the signal you are picking up isnt strong enough.
Is the downconverter in the correct distance in the grid faceplate?
If it isnt in the optimum point the signal will be weak.
Do you have the grid the correct orientation if its a Lance type ?
Look at your neighbours downconverter and see which way the plate on it is orientated ,---- (Horizontal) or | (Vertical) .
Hope this helps

Hi Fano, thanks for the advice, just 1 or 2 more questions if you can bear with me.

Very good, this could account for the few analogue channels I?m receiving. On another thread I was informed that Ch0ru$ were definitely finished transmitting analogue in Cork, but I guess they were wrong. So I?m on the right track :)

Ok, slightly confused now! Doesn?t polarity mean the orientation? In other words, if it is parallel to the ground it is horizontal and if it is perpendicular to the ground it is vertical?

The analogue channels are coming in at good quality reception (not perfect). Would this indicate that I have a strong signal and that I have the correct orientation? The antenna I?m using is an old Ch0ru$ antenna. Not sure what you mean by ?grid? and ?lance type?? Thanks a million.
