No that won't work in a non-modded PS2.
DVD burners are pretty cheap anymore if your looking to back up games.
And to get started to play backups on an unmodded PS2, check out Free MC_Boot
http://my.afterdawn.com/smokyrain/blog_e...4/free_mcboot14
You still need a way to install it too a mc, but after that it will play backups on an unmodded PS2.

I have not personally no, but its been tried in the past.
I believe when you copy like that the coding itself is not copied to the disk, which the PS2 needs to read.
And the discs which can be read by the PS2 have the inner ring with data on it to tell the PS2 it can be read by it.
I know it won't pass the PS2 DVD checks.
I am sure someone else could explain it better than me.
A way you could tell, is open the DVD ISO you made with IsoBuster 2
and see if under the ISO, does it say DVD Video.

To copy a game with dvd decrypter all you have to do is
1, goto MODE>ISO>READ and save the game to your hard drive, there is no need to swap with a movie
To burn a game with dvd decrypter
1, goto MODE>ISO>WRITE burn at 4x with -R media
But you dont have a dvd burner so you cannot burn a copy of the game to even try to load on your non modded ps2!!
1, buy a dvd burner
2, either buy a mod chip, or swap magic, or try the memory card trick
but with out the first the rest is a waste of time

@PROBLEMS
The reason he was trying to make an image that way was he figured you could fool the PS2 into thinking its a DVD Video
And wondering if that would play on an unmodded PS2.

yes but without a way to produce an image in the first place you wont be fooling any ps2
edit
and he was indicating that he was swapping the game and movie in dvd decrypter to get an iso

I agree, that's why he asked if any one else had tried it.

Yes he figured that would fool the PS2, as he figured then it would be DVD Video, but with game files inside the ISO.
Thats why I gave him links to the new method using the ESR Beta, and then patch ISO with memento Disc patcher.
That does work.

Geez... this sure is getting really frustrating. Ive been diggin in this thread for about three days now. At first i was really pissed off - i did every single thing just like it is told here for like a thousand (maybe even more) times... the discs still didnt work... then i realized, i was using wrong discs - i used some cheap-ass DVD+R's... okay, then i thought i had it all figured out and today i bought me some Verbatim DVD-R's... yeah, i thought now it'll definitely work - but now im sitting here and writing this post, like thousands before me - it still doesnt work. Well, im still not giving up - ill try to use different burning programs (until now i used ImgBurn, but it didnt work for me)... And yeah, my PS2 has a mod chip... though im not really sure which one... but it has it, because i can play other iso-burned discs which came with the PS2 i bought from some random guy... now if you've finished reading this hugely long post, do you have any idea what may be the cause?

A weird thing i noticed - i can play cd-r's i burn just fine... its the dvd-r/dvd+r's that dont work. Ive tried downloading some iso-s and i honestly dont believe that every single dvd iso is messed up. Im running out of ideas... im sure im doing everything right, i cant be that dumb. I already tried burning the dvd's with Alcohol 120%, dvd decrypter, ImgBurn, BurnAware but none of them work. Geez, what?

wow triple post huh
please tell us exactly, the procces you used to rip and burn your games, dont leave anything out, you could be simply overlooking something simple like burn speed, you may have to enable dvd-r media with your chip, or it could be that your dvd burner sucks or has taken a turn for the worst, or your ps2 laser may not be reading the burnt disc properly, what version is it. the more info you give the better off you are in getting an answere that is helpful
use dvd decrypter
go to MODE/ISO/READ save game to hard drive
go to MODE/ISO/WRITE load the game you just saved
burn at 4x with your verbatims -R
what game are you triing to burn
if the above steps dont work and you are actually following directions then chances are your chip or ps2 is not working properly
EDIT
what do you mean your pretty positive you have a messiah chip? Why dont you know what you have?

The reason I'm not really sure what chip I have is because I didn't install the chip myself, it was already installed when I bought it. And I did everything like it should have been done, like you wrote just now. And the discs just wont work. Shows me the stupid red screen which i pretty hate already. I have a vs7 SCPH-39004 console. Yeah, it's a PAL but it doesn't matter - Virtua Fighter 4 NTSC runs just fine since its on a CD-R. But I've tried numerous times burning Tekkens and FF X and XII. The ISO-s are fine, they run fine on my PSCX2 emulator. I don't get it - why it reads only CD-s? Has anybody ever heard of a console that is this picky? How do I make sure what is the problem? Am i doing anything wrong or is the console/chip/laser broken? Thanks for you help! :)

my first suggestion would be to burn a pal dvd game and see if it loads that, some chips require you to pick pal or ntsc, if you can go to the splash screen at startup (usually by holding a certain button) then you can check and see if there is a option to choose. another thing to try is try an origonal ntsc game and see if it will load that. if it wont load a burnt pal dvd game or a stock ntsc dvd game then chances are your chip is not enabled fully

Memorex is crap media, plain and simple.
Do all backups on Maxell load a black screen or just one in particular.
What speed did your burn the backup at, and what program did you use.
Most people use Imgburn and burn it at 4x speed.
Is your PS2 and the backup of the same region?
Meaning are they both NTSC or PAL, or is one NTSC and the backup PAL or vice versa.
You may need to patch the ISO if the backup is PAL and your PS2 is NTSC
Also make sure you are pressing your own region even if the game is PAL and your PS2 is NTSC.

I used dvd decrypter, and all my backups just load on a black screen, i burned sometimes at 1,2,4x none of them work, and my ps2 is NTSC and the backup is the same, so is swap magic.

Well, I got my problem solved - it wasn't about the discs, it was my console. There was trick to make it read the discs, thats all. Now that I figured it out, it doesn't have any complains about my discs. But thanks for your kind help. And I wish luck and patience to everyone with that stupid problem, it IS frustrating. Hang in there, it'll work out eventually, one or another way.
