Try burning it at 4x to be safe. Is your disc's DVD-R or DVD+R, if they are +R, then make sure to set your booktyping to DVD-ROM
If that still don't work, try getting Verbatim, Taiyo-Yuden, and even Sony disc usually work fine for most.

Forgive me if this is against the rules but I just needed to ask.
I used the DVD Decrypter method of backing up an ISO from my original Dirge of Cerberus game. Once that was done, I transferred the file over to my mac for the burning process with Toast Titanium 8 because my PC doesn't have a DVD burner.
I burned the game unto a DVD RW which I know my console (PS2 slim with modchip) can read because I have burned torrent downloaded ISOs on it before and they worked fine.
This is my first time making a back up from an actual original copy of the game so I need some help understanding why my console would not read the disc I'm burning.
Is there something I am doing wrong and is it in the ripping or the burning process that I am messing up?
Thank you for any help offered.

I do think so yes. When you get your new discs just burn it at 4x speed and see what happens.

DVD-RW are very hard on the PS2 laser, so not sure why you want to use them.
DVD-R aren't that expensive if you buy big quantity and should work fine on your Mac, thats what I would recommend trying

Thank you so much smokyrain-san. I did try burning on DVD-Rs and the game's working just fine. ^__^
I burn the games on a DVD-RW to test that I downloaded the correct game (so I don't end up wasting money or messing up a backup in the case of this one that I copied from the original.)
Once I have confirmed that it is indeed the game I want, I proceeded to burn them on DVD-Rs.
At least I managed to get DoC to work (and very well thank you for the help). Perhaps I'd save myself the trouble next time and just burn straight to a DVD-R if RWs are indeed harsh on the lens of the console.
Now,
I have had a problem from a while back in which the console would not play PSX/PS1 games and I'm sure modchips allow PSX games to be played on a PS2. (hope this is still in the correct thread... please just inform me if it is otherwise and I shall delete the post asap)
May I humbly ask for assistance once again? Thank you. ^__^

I figured as much thats why you used DVD-RW, but maybe all backups won't work using them, I am not sure. The PS2 itself may sometimes read them and sometimes not.
Anyway glad you got DoC to work. Its a fantastic game.
Ok would probably help to know what modchip you have.
Most of the newer ones will autodetect PS1 backups.
Follow this guide to burn them, depending which program you use.
I usually use Alcohol 120% for PS1 games.

Did you test it, by putting in a disk
Start up the PS2, then open the lid. If the disk is still spinning, you have them installed correctly.
When it went to the memory card screen, did it show your disk present.

Im pretty sure i have it installed correctly since i played (original)copy of metal gear solid snake eater, with the lid open. when it went the the MC screen it stayed for 3 seconds then went to a red screen saying "insert ps2 disc" i dont remmeber correctly what it said but it was something like that.

Well Black should work fine with Swap Magic. You are selecting NTSC as Video Mode when you start it.
Well its either your discs then and new ones should fix it, or try hitting SPECIAL when you load Swap magic

Well i hope you can guys help me.I have made several backups of Persona 3 (FES) because when i try to load the game on my ps2.It takes resseting my ps2 like ten times or more until it finnaly loads the game. One thing i have noticed it´s that after the ps2 logo dissapears it looks like is loading but suddenly the screen that lets you browse your memory card appears and then it goes to the red screen asking me to insert an original ps2 disc.I have a 50001 ps2 and have used dvd decrypther, image burn and deep burner to burn the discs(verbatim, sony). As for the modchip i really don´t remember how is called but it´s an old one that i got it installed years ago.I just restarted to play again.

Hi, folks, needs some help...
I have burned succesfully at least one PS2 game (Burnout 3) but have been experiencing some troubles when burning other roms (NBA live 08, Black, Mortal Kombat Armaggedon). All Roms are location compatible (PAL vs NTSC) and other roms I have backed up (disks scrached) are also working (both God of War I and II, Soulcalibur III, Final Fantasy XII, MArvel vs Capcom II, among others). I tryed with Nero and Alcohol 120% and I didn't use high quality media (Verbatim and the like). Any insight? Thanks for your help.

Hey guys. I've read the first few pages of this forum and I must say it is absolutely amazing. I got DVD Decrypter and used that so read my ps2 disc to an ISO file and then write it to a DVD. I tried both DVD+R and DVD-R at a 4x write speed and chose the .mds file. I have no idea what else to do to make this work. I have a ps2 slim and am not interested in modding my ps2 in any way. If you guys have an idea on how to help me out I would be really grateful!

If you do not want to mod your PS2 in any way then check this thread.

That seems really good but it just isn't what I'm looking for. My parents aren't thrilled with this whole thing so I'm trying to keep it pretty quiet here. Is there anything easier to do than modding the memory card or system? I keep hearing about Swap Magic, so would that work with the discs I've been burning the way I have? Or is there even another way to go about it?
Thanks again

Yes Swap Magic will work with the way you are backing up and burning your disks.
You will also need the "Swap Tool Pro V3 or V4"
Just so you know the fmcb does nothing to the PS2 system, just to the mc.
But if down the road, using your Swap Magic you can then install to mc.
It's much simpler and no swapping of disks.

Well I would say there is nothing wrong with your laser, unless your getting DRE (Disk Read Errors)
What exactly happens when you try to play your own region. Do you get a black screen or what.
What type of modchip do you have? Do you have a configuration menu where you can make changes to the settings of your modchip.

Hey every1, I downloaded a ps2 game that has 2 folders: Disc1 and Disc2.
In each folder there are many files and a sfv, but no isos...maybe I need to make an iso myself out of these files and if yes, how?

You will need to extract those files to get an ISO
