Raptros - Yes it is possible however it is illegal, and if I'm not mistaken that's against the T.o.S. of these forums...If you like the game, buy it. If you wanna try out an import (before you buy it) - use gamefly they stock lots of titles.
Dcronk - No one needs to tell you how to - or rather someone else has; Check out Rustyfan's tutorial on backing up Ps2 games...it should be lingering somewhere around page four.

PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs. So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.
If you already had an .iso you would start at step 3
***** BURN AT NO MORE THAN 2X****** <-----------(IMPORTANT)
TURN OFF ANY BACKGROUND APPLICATIONS
1. Take the ps2 game put it in the dvd rom or dvd burner, your choice.
2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the game is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run. The game is now copying to your HDD. Take the game out when finished (it might take a while).
3. Go to the same tab in dvd decryptor and choose MODE>ISO>WRITE. This will then let you look for the files you just created in step 2. Select the file that you just created. (There is only 2 files creadted so pick the .mds) (The smaller file)Then click WRITE, make sure there is blank DVD in the drive.
Possunt Quia Posse Videntur.

Wow what a long thread takes forever to get through but the only thing I noticed no one really touched on is if you need to patch the ps2 game or not, if you are useing DVD Decrypter everyone says to decrypt to an ISO and then burn it to a dvd now if you are useing the swap Magic to boot the ps2 and then hotswap your cloned copy of the game you own, will it work or do you have to patch it before burning it for it to work???

No. At least I'm not. If you weren't aware - you are now - The TOS for the forums prohibit discussision of piracy and how to assist in it. It'd prolly be best to quit while you're ahead, before a mod bans you.

games burned at 8x will work. if your ps2 is modded try making a straight copy of the game with your dvd burner before you do anything else. Dvd encryptor isnt alway needed to make copies of ps2 games. I just rented 3 games tonight and I am copying them as we speak with nero

I have backed up so many playstation 2 games using Game-cloner, This is very easy to do man. I just pressed like 4 buttons and it came out :) I used it with my swap magic 3.3 with slide card and it worked w/o a fuss hehe

Hi All: As far as I know, all the backing up of games is assuming that the original disc has the capacity that is less than 4.7Gb. However, all the new games, for example, God of War, has a image file of 8.6Gb. I tried to burn it onto a dual layer disc with 2x speed but the disc does not work. Is there anyone know how can you back up something that is a DVD9 format? Thank you so much. By the way, I do have a mod chip and all my previous backups work out fine.
