nero777x,
Are you in the U.S.? If yes, your not looking hard enough :) I've seen them in Target and Walmart. Any office supply store will have them (Office Depot, Staples), and almost every electronics store (CompUSA, Bestbuy, etc ... )

Questions guys....Never have backed up a ps2 game but from what i`ve read its very simple and very familiar with DVD Decrypter.OK real question is what do i really need to play it on my playstation?heres what i have:
lite-on dvd burner
decrypter
dvdshrink
and tons of dvds use for backing all my movies. Also i`ve heard that you could also play it if you plug ps2 straight to a hdd,but is there anything else that i need in order to play it? Thanks in advance to all you wiz kids

After reading various threads in the forums here, I have to say: you just have to be patient and try out different programmes until you have the one which works for your PC.
In my case, it worked with DVD Decrypter only.
In two steps: creating the image and then burning the image
For the blank DVD better use a brand DVD (TDK worked for me, ..)
TO CREATE IMAGE:
1 Open DVD Decrypter
2 Insert Original Game in Drive
3 Choose this drive as "Source" drive
4 Then choose your harddisc where the image should be saved
5 Go to Mode --> ISO --> Read
6 and finally, click the pic in the middle showing a DVD and a harddisc
´
wait for Decrypter to create image
TO BURN ON BLANK DVD:
1 When the image creation is finished,
2 take the original game DVD out
3 insert the blank DVD in the burner drive
4 Go to Mode --> ISO --> Write
5 now the burning window opens:
- Source: choose the harddisc where the image is burned: but be sure to choose the ".MDS" file (Dvd Decrypter makes two image files, one is ISO and one is MDS - be sure to choose the .MDS one here, you have to make "all files" visible to be able to see the .MDS file)
- Speed: better use a not-so-fast speed, in my case 2x worked fine
- if you want to be 100% certain before using a blank DVD, you can test the burning process by clicking "Test Mode" (this will 'simulate' burning, but not really burn)
- if you do not want to test, be sure that "Test Mode" is not clicked
6 finally, click on the harddisc - DVD pic to start the burning process
*Good Luck!*

Yeah, I knew it was just me. Some of my PS2 games are racking up to 4.33 GB here; how much space is usually on a blank DVD (and isn't there a technical term for blank dvds; like DVD-R or DVD-RW?). And wouldn't blank DVDs cost way much more than regular CD-Rs and CD-RWs?

Have ps2 boot cd. Have DVD Decrypter. can not get it to work. I burned the boot cd to dvd. Burned the game to dvd. I put the boot cd in the ps2 and everything seems to be fine, the screen says to insert the playstation disc. As soon as I hit the eject button it opens. I read somewhere that the light is supposed to change from green to orange then the tray ejects. Then I put the game dvd in and it goes right back to the please insert playstation disk.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

ok after reading 19 pages of this thread, my eyes are starting to burn... so maybe i missed the answer. A few people have asked about what to do when there is not enough space on the disc to burn an image. This happens with DVD9 games I think. It happened to me when I was trying to burn GT4 on a 4.7G DVD+R. So, repeating several people's question, what should we do when this happens? Use two DVDs?
oh nero777x, if I read your postings correctly, it seems to me as if you're trying to burn DVDs with a CD-R burner. Unless it was a typo, you just need to go out and get yourself a DVD burner.

Okay, I tried to burn a PS2 game called StarOcean. I used DVD Decrypter and I followed the directions exactly as they were writen. The .iso files I copied from the PS2 game were sent to the blank DVD+R, but when I put it into the PS2, the red screen came up telling me to put in a PS2 or PS game in. What's wrong here.

hi,
i have been using DVD Decrypter to burn ps2 games for the last few days. i burned many of my friend's real games using this method. the problem occurred when i stopped using REAL games and started using COPIED versions of other games. i was only able to successfully download 2 games in this later tries. i would insert a dvdr- and try to write an ISO file of a copied PS2 game. 1 minute into the process, i would get error messages. i try to abort, but in the end, my dvdr is wasted.
and now i have 9 dvdr coasters. what i am asking is, whether there is some kind of explanation for this? why it happened to work twice and then fail nine times? i uninstalled and reinstalled DVD Decrypter several times and restarted the computer, but the same problem kept occurring.
is there another program that facilitates the burning of a ps2 game from another copy? i downloaded Nero ver 6.06 or something. i think there is a system of creating or copying ISO files. but i wasnt sure how it worked.
please help me with this problem. thank you.

@nero777x-
Did you actually try using some kinda boot method to play the backup of Star Ocean? Or did you just burn the disc and pop it into your PS2? Cuz it sounds like thats what you did. You need to use either Swap Magic, or install a ModChip into your PS2. As for burning the games correctly, there's a million guides on how to do that floating around AfterDawn. All you gotta do is find them. Here's a simplified version:
1)Put your game into the comp's DVD Drive and read the game img to the HDD of the comp using DVD Decrypter.
2)Burn the img onto a blank DVD-R or DVD+R using DVD Decrypter at a speed of 4X or less.
3)Enjoy :)
Hope this helps. Lemme know how I can help in any other way

um ok, so does anyone know how to solve my problem? i have no idea why DVD Decrypter works for some games such as star wars ep3, nba street vol.3, burnout 3, gta vice city, or onimusha 3, but NOT work for some other titles such as tekken 5, devil may cry 3, or prince of persia 2.
is there a way to do it with Nero? please tell me if it is possible to do the same thing with another program.

I used Nero 6.6.0.14 at 2x & it worked for devil may cry 3, but not for juiced well it did but it takes about 20 minutes just to get to the title screen but then i realised that that was the 1st game i burnt using dvdr + so could that be why it loads so slow?

Iceman
Simply put the game DVD into your DVD Drive. Then open DVD Decrypter. If you want to configure the speed at which the game will be read go to Tools>Settings>Device and select read speed. Then click Mode>Iso>Read. This will change the Decrypting mode to reading to the HDD. Then pick a directory in which you want the image to appear, and hit Decrypt. Once it is finished you will have to files: an ISO and an MDS. Go to Mode>ISO>Write. Then choose the mds which you just created. Put in a blank DVD. Then choose a reasonable speed at which the game is to be burned(No faster than 8X). Then hit burn. Once the process is finished you should have a playble game.

What game r u trying to burn? If you're trying to burn a file that was not properly read, yu're not going to have a working backup.
As for the Verify choice, I find that not necessary. You really can't verify a corrupted file
