not to sound like a snaggle puss, but you two might want to remove your email address, because, unless the forum rules have changed very recently, then it is a against em to post your address

The problem with memorex is that they buy their media from several different manufacturers, some good some bad. If I knew I would always get Ricohjpn then I would buy them all the time, but every time I gambled and bought some they were either cmc magnetics or info disk which are both bottom of the barrel clay pigion stand ins. Never again. Since I buy 100 at a time I'm not willing to take a chance on getting crap media
I use
Verbatim dvd+r 8x 100 pack ( 24.99 )

swap magic is disc you use to boot copied games with.
it goes in your ps2.
you load up swapmagic, take it out, then load up your copied game.
it has nothing to do with the pc,it is not used for copying games.
hopes that makes things a little clearer
check out this site.

@ CyberFreq
You either need a modchip installed in your ps2 or using a boot disc like SwapMagic to play your backup games.

Hi Guys
Everone talks about what Duscs are best to use when backing up a DVD Movie or PS2 game and Xbox.I use Ritek A Grade which has a {GO5 dye}the deeper the dye the better the disc.I get Mine from www.blankdiscshop.co.uk.The prices are really cheap even more cheap if you order more disc. They sell everthing that you need for your P.C.Check the site out it is a very cheap.

Ok..I have DVD Decrypter v 3.5.2.0 and have followed all the steps in copying a PS2 game (Dark Cloud 2). I have used Memorex DVD-R (4.7G). My burner is a Benq Combo DVD and CD Burner which reportedly burns all formats of CD and DVD's.
Quote: Assuming you have the original game dvd and want to back it up
- this is not the original I'm using. It is a copy I purchased. Could this be the problem?
Quote: DNAS authentication systemQuote: how do I know if this is the case?
I have brought burn speed down to 2X.
Is there anything else I need to know?

copying from a copy does not make any difference as long as the quality is good,
the problem you may have is that you are using memorex media.it is useless.

Thanx for your input Hursty. The copy I'm trying to make a copy of is Memorex and most of the stuff I have is on Memorex. Guess it can't be that bad.

I tried to copy an original PS2 DVD disk and had no luck. I'm leaning towards the possibility that the burn speed is the issue. I was sold this burner as a Benq and when I tried to update the firmware I got message this was not a Benq burner. So, am going to open the computer and do a visual on the burner to find out who manufactured it and then look for an update for the 1X issue. When I set the program to burn 1X it still burns as 2.4X.

Here's my experiences:
Using a Plextor 708A, winxp pro, and AthlonXP2800, I tried ripping and backing up GTA:SA and MGS3 using DVD Decrypter and Ritek05 inkjet printable dvd-r (at 1x). I got past the title screen but it froze after a couple of minutes of gameplay.
I didn't think it was the modchip because it did its job by bypassing the boot sector scan. So I decided to upgrade the firmware and use Memorex DVD-R discs and tested GTASA and MGS3 with success. I played each for about 2 hours without any glitches, slowdowns, or suspicious actions.
Although I wouldn't say that Memorex's are the best media, it worked for me. But I'm not sure if it's because of the media, or the fact that i upgraded the firmware. I'll test burn another copy with the riteks again, since those have never failed me in backing up movies.
